Earth ponies don’t have their own magic, but they still get affected by it more than unicorns or pegasi (who got at least some resistance). Looks like a weakness, but it’s kinda a trade-off. Stuff like friendship, harmony, chaos magic, even potions and artifacts hit earth ponies harder.

Also I always liked that one image of Applejack drawing life from the plants and shit around her and healing all her wounds up and stuff. Always thought that was super cool

But then, if they drink a resistance potion, they can actually end up tougher than the others for a while. Same thing with cursed items that mess with the pony's magic, since earth ponies don’t really have that problem. And maybe they get “lucky” with wild magic streams sometimes (like Pinkie).

Expanding: plants in ponyville don't grow by themselves, while all races can plant a crop, plants and the earth itself have a voice in the shape of magic, harder to be noticed by the other races due to their natural magical resistances. In many generations of earth ponies, not only did they get better at agriculture, they've never forgot to listen to the earth.

It's absolutely incorrect to think this, but I like the idea of earth ponies being inherently anti-magic to the point where they are better able to resist unicorn spells. So it's almost like a rock paper scissors system where earth ponies beat unicorns, unicorns beat pegasi, and pegasi beat earth ponies. Part of that also comes from me thinking about possibilities for a pony video game lol.

Tangentially related but it's kind of bullshit that the hoofwrestle between Applejack and Rainbow was a struggle at all when its been established that Earth Ponies can move fucking trains and houses with ease. I feel like if any of us went to Equestria and questioned any of this we'd be punished severely by the nature of the universe for questioning too much and not being harmonious enough. Or maybe Twilight Sparkle'd into accepting the mundane insanity of it all by being given some friends

Hoomies should not talk about things they have no understanding at all. There's magic so deep in Equestrian soil you wouldn't believe it, and earth ponies are directly connected into it.
