Most of the updates come straight from the Dashie Mod, so big thanks to that anon. I knew the game was modular, but I wasn't expecting mods like his or the Nightmare AU one to pop up this quickly.

What's new?

- Dynamic location switching with a toggle setting in case your LLM struggles with it or if you just don't care.

Two types of custom locations:
A) Locations with positions + sandbox description appear on the map, can be visited directly, and ponies can schedule them.
B) Locations without positions don't show on the map but can be used by the dynamic system (e.g., Fluttershy's bedroom, which isn't clickable on the map but the AI can move to it if you stay the night at her cottage).

Gemini definitely seems like a step up from Deepseek. How does it compare to other models like Claude or GPT-5?

Deepseek might still have a niche for being the easiest to get to gen NSFW, but if other models can be jailbroken it seems like that's the way to go for the best quality.

I've run into a issue from my own stupidity.
I copied my Persona from Silly Tavern, into the Persona screen.
And now I can't access the Persona Screen, as it only gives me Rollback (Which closes the Game) or Ignore (Which jumps directly into the game), Where can I access the Personas? Or is there a way to Clear the information put in there, without having to overwrite all the files?

Try opening the Persona menu.
If it still doesn't work for some reason, there's now a big "Delete All Personas" button in the title menu. Click it, wipe them all, and retry.
But first test if you can access it normally.

Claude follows the story the best and able to write A-grade story even on trash prompt
vs GPT-5:
Gemini is less stiff and follows various extra formatting (HTML / statblocks) better
GPT-5 has better NSFW language (yes, I will die on that hill)

I am personally in Gemini camp and use Deepseek for sexo. you go ahead and try all models on your particular story - it may be a case where story X works terrible in one model (which everyone loves) but will work flawlessly in model Y (which noone uses). we dont know edge-cases, models may surprise in various niche scenarios. for example Grok 4 is the only model among the ones I have tested that can do depressive/suicidal characters well without trying to fix them. I thought Gemini was the best in this regard, but no Grok is the true king. and look at all AI threads, pretty much noone talks about Grok 4. yet for this particular type of stories - from what I have seen - it is the best model. but its general intelligence is not THAT good - I would not use it 24/7 only for particular cases. YMMV in other words

So Gemini definitely knows a lot of Fanfiction things. It knows about Cupcakes, Fallout: Equestia, My Little Dashie, and more. I'm guessing someone put FIMFiction.net in the dataset or something.

- You can now sleep alone at home (for immersionchads who never want to exit to the map but don’t always have a mare to cuddle with)

I can spend the whole day with my wife, sleep with her, wake up with her, and repeat. That’s all I ever wanted. A common AI pattern is to say "not X, but Y" or "it's not just X, it's Y" or various similar phrasings to that. It's common enough that it's a pattern uses to identify AI writing.

Gemini seems to be infected with that really bad. Is there anything that can be added to a character card or elsewhere to avoid this kind of writing?

I would say it has more of a place in your preset, since it's a general writing rule.
Try instructing against this sentence structure there. A more powerful place would be the prefill if you use one; otherwise, put it somewhere else.
I don't use Gemini enough to know if it works on it (some patterns are too strong), but it's worth a try.

It's free, quite smart, and has good context.

Apparently they are working on the next model, so at random there are technical problems with the free offering of 2.5.
It usually stabilizes after some time.
Switching to gemini-2.5-flash solve this, but flash is more retarded than Pro.

none of these numbers mean words or symbols. they refer to tokens, which are collections of data - numbers, letters, words, emoji, etc. think of tokens as the model's internal encoding. for english, 4 tokens ~= 3 words; in russian, 10 tokens ~= 6 words. so a context of 30,000 tokens ~= 22,500 english words or 18,000 russian words. you can see that english is more "compact" vs other languages. if you want to play around and see how the model breaks down your text in tokens then search for tokenizers online. here is one example, https://gpt-tokenizer.dev/

Nothing that strict. I'm just aiming for a classic slow-burn dashfic where we go from friends to lovers. I have a couple of conflicts thought up that I can introduce at some point if things start to get stale.
The main thing I'm doing is keeping track of the days on a calendar. I started the game on Monday, September 22nd in the middle of Applebuck season, so I basically got hired by AJ immediately. The A.I. decided to take the train route from Ponyville up to Canterlot as a transfer station to get on the line destined for Our Town. She showed my character the Canterlot Garden during the 30 minute departure waiting time, and was suspiciously placing herself between my character and any nobles of Canterlot; as if to keep me out of sight. (She even almost used magic at one point for an unknown reason that I can only assume was targeting a couple of nobles, had I not accidentally interrupted her by waxing commentary on perceived classes and gilded cages.)

I finally got my answer on what the A.I would do for Our Town, which it surprisingly didn't shit the bed on. It just recycled the Ponyville_Streets.png for a background, but had accurate descriptions for the setting of Our Town, to the point where I swear it must have read the script for that episode.

I'm tempted to try and add an Our Town to my game locations folder, but I don't think I'll 100% figure it out.

She's showing us around the town prior to a community meal. She told my character about how Cutie marks are the cause of disharmony, to which his amnesiac ass responded with, 'Why don't you just get rid of them then?'

She obviously loved that. I can't tell if she was making a joke or not on the last panel; but it is ridiculous enough that my character took it as a joke. He's being respectful to the ponies of the town, seeing it as a place with quirks, while simultaniously admiring the thought put into the details of the town in terms of scheduling and logistics.

There are a bunch of description examples that feel straight from the show, but I couldn't fit them all into the single image without it becoming hectic.

It's not, google seems to be rate limiting free keys more than usual and that triggers a false "no keys" error when the proxy tries a bunch of keys and they all return quota errors. I'll see what I can do about it.

I may have been overzealous and installed all the custom characters up to this point. I noticed that the more custom characters there are, the longer the A.I. has to think for. I glanced in the logs behind the scenes and noticed that after every player input it manually checks every instance for custom characters. (of which it says something like 96 available, which leads me to believe it's collectively counting every individual image.)

It doesn't really load the images, it just sends the list of emotions/sprites a character is able to display, because the AI can't read or access folders. So it needs a list of what the characters can show.
If you have 100 sprites for Chrysalis because of her disguises, it will send them, because otherwise the AI can't know what sprites you gave her.

Makes sense, I had a hunch it involved the dynamic call system after a few minutes of thought. We could possibly put a limit on how many characters are referenced by limiting it to the scheduling file, so characters in the area's location show up; with the exception of the core characters, which can show up as needed.

I do some programming, and if you're willing to go further you could probably pass another parameter specifying the character for Chrysalis' disguises instead of duplicating all the sprites. you are probably using OpenRouter - they do not have Deepseek 3.1 for now --at least from what I see

It's more likely that you're getting some kind of validation error. When the game detects certain things in the AI's response, like the AI speaking for the player, trying to transition the scene through narrator text instead of calling for the scene change properly, or failing to use the correct character tag, the game is designed to automatically resend the previous message. It includes what the AI did wrong and tells it to fix it. The game sometimes has to send a couple of correction messages just to get the AI to behave properly. This can make it seem like the AI is taking a long time to respond. Next time you see it taking longer than normal, open the logs folder, sort by newest, and check if you're getting 'correction' logs. Open one up and scroll to the bottom to see what the AI is doing wrong and what it's being told to fix.

The 96 refers to the valid character tags. That includes the custom characters, the main characters, and a few aliases for the main characters to help avoid validation errors. So if the AI mistakenly tries to add Fluttershy into the game with 'flut', 'flutter', 'flutters', or 'fluttershy' instead of what her actual tag is, which is 'shy', the game will interpret those tags as the same thing and will call Fluttershy properly, rather than send a validation error telling the AI to resend the whole message and fix Fluttershy's tag. It's not sending the entire list of characters to the AI for it to parse through. I'll explain what that's for in the next post.

It doesn’t, actually. The prompt only lists the characters that were in the initial scene (with their tag/sprite names) plus the format/rules. It doesn’t send a full roster of everyone installed. The “Total discovered character tags for validation: 96” part is internal. The validation system knows about all tags and ensures that the AI gives us a proper tag when calling for a character to enter. The AI is actually just guessing on the first attempt when it calls for a custom character's tag, and if it gets it wrong, then we inject the roster into the correction prompt.

There are two things I would highly suggest fixing for one of the next main versions that I'm only now noticing.
1. Anti-spam, so that we don't send picrel to the AI for each line it used the wrong tag on.
2. We aren't updating the list of characters that are in the conversation. This means we aren't sending their sprites, which means the AI isn't aware of what sprites it can use for the ponies that enter the conversation later. It's just guessing. Sorry about that, that's a huge oversight on my part.

If you want, I can take a crack at fixing it since it's something I fucked up, but I won't be able to work on it until friday.

While there are similarities (I took some prompt instructions that were better than mine and part of the code), I don't use the exact same system as Dashie for locations and dynamic characters, so those problems at least shouldn't be present.
I will take extra caution, but normally the file I/O operations at each prompt for dynamic characters won't be there (still, good to have a reminder to check this).

I think a dynamic character system like this will always present challenges with a high number of custom characters, be it token-wise, model-wise (some are way more reluctant to change locations or bring characters), or other issues. I've noticed what you've mentioned at a variety of temps, but only some of the time. Other times it goes too far in the other direction and makes up random plot points that seemingly come out of no where.

I'm going for a long story and seeing how the VN handles it. Currently, I believe I've made around 536 inputs into the story so far. I feel I'm going to have to eventually start writing the recap myself; which is fine since it allows me to practice my writing some more.

The prompt used for the story is still the default 'woke up with amnesia' storyline, but I've been allowing the A.I. to influence the story's direction by rolling with the factors it introduces between character interactions. (Even when it did M. A. Larson'd me...)

I've cut back the token output to be more reasonable for conversations and short moments, so I can more naturally say my character's inputs without interrupting the A.I. too often, whilst also giving most of the tokens to context, so it can plan at least 15 pages ahead.

The logs so far have been the results. I'm not dissatisfied with them.

Your writing style can help give the A.I. contextual clues to make a plot hook.

For example, let's say that you're on a train ride from Ponyville to Canterlot with Twilight. Let's say Twilight started nerding out over magic and how it works ambiently.
You could bring up their family and comment how prolific of magic users they are and steer the conversation to her brother, Shining Armor. The A.I. will likely know about this character and the their relations; so by the time you arrive at Canterlot, the odds of seeing Shining Armor drastically increased, and gives the A.I. another character and information to use.

It may respond with her brother talking to one of the princesses about a weird ambient magic outside his kingdom, which may become your next adventure.

I'm really sad that Opus 3 is going away and there still isn't any good open source model designed to replicate it before we lose it forever. Deepseek was made using stolen GPT logs but there was no model using Claude Opus logs. There truly is no model that surpasses Opus with writing, creativity and not needing to destroy its output quality through a complicated jailbreak

Opus 6 is better than 3.7

I decided to make this card after all. I think it has good potential for a narrator that works with supplied (conditional) story beats and a few rules.
So far it lets you have some slice of life before it judges what you are and the story begins. It also has the job of implanting a meme that makes the concept more acceptable.
So far in my testing, the ponies are nicely written, it follows the first phase of the story and the gaslighting is bit too heavy handed. And the vision is too literal.

As always, Twilight is bigger nerd that she should be. The idea injected is simple, it just messes with the usual symbolism in mlp.

new deepseek is better, less "deepseekims" than before and its noticeably smarter. Sonnet 3.7 still best imo but its a bit closer now. Hopefully V4 finally catches up and gives a cheaper alternative

Gemini banned a lot of API keys from JanitorAI users two days ago.
If you don't use the website, no problem.
Still, some believed it might have been about NSFW, which could be a bit concerning for us.
Turns out it's not about that.

JanitorAI users can't use presets or lorebooks, so they use a third-party proxy with their OWN keys that adds that for them.
It also has a "nice" retry function if the request fails.
The problem is that Gemini has failed a lot recently and wasn't stable.
They don't have a limit on the number of times the request is retried.
One or two requests could easily turn into 60-70 calls, right when Gemini was already shitting itself because of the load.

Like I said, that really doesn't concern us, but still funny, and good to know it wasn't particularly against NSFW.

with caching, you have to hide them once your max context (say 30k) fills up, not each scene, just to avoid flushing the cache too often. Summarization can and should be scene-based, but you have to put it under the history, into the "mutable" area. Same with the {{random}}, {{getvar}} and anything else that might change each swipe.
