>>42559770 (OP) I personally don't get what makes you think that. I'm not saying that Rarity is awful, but she has a lot of flaws, especially flaws that contradict her character.
For instance, she is the element of generosity, but also tends to take from others and is willing to do subtle things at other ponies' expense in order to achieve her goals. At times she cares more about status than genuine friendships and puts them in uncomfortable situations. Many people have done the same to me in much worse situations, sometimes with good intentions, sometimes with very bad intentions. Rarity is rather mild and is by no means a bad pony.
Now, I think it's important to note that while these flaws make me like Rarity less than other ponies, when you take a look at what she does, it makes sense. She is running a business, not a charity, and while she loves to perform small acts of kindness, she also expects the same from others. She tries to use the people around her to the best of her ability so that she can fulfill her dreams. I think it's rather smart, but it also rubs me the wrong way. She has a dream and she is going to try to make it, and I think that is admirable.
Now it's time to shill for my wife. Pinkie is rather the opposite. She doesn't really care about status or money or anything of that nature, but rather the genuine relationships she builds. To her, the only currency she needs is a smile. Of course, she probably has a way of organizing bits so that she is able to party, but that's beside the point. Pinkie Pie is childish compared to the more adult Rarity, but it is that child-like personality which I think is, ironically enough, is far wiser than the ethos of status and disingenuousness that Rarity is trying to navigate.
