Kinda. I always liked AJ, but I was originally more into RD before watching the show. But when I actually started watching through season 1, I saw she was kind of a bitch, and AJ ended up being what I expected RD to be more like.
I blame bronies for misleading me on what RD's personality was supposed to be like. But yea, AJ pretty quickly won me over throughout season 1 with how selfless and faithful she always stayed towards her friends and family. I kinda have trust issues irl, so the idea of someone who's willing to go so far to be true to her word for the ones she cares about is very appealing to me. I love her trustworthiness, and I'd go pretty far for someone like that too.

Yea, I've come to appreciate honesty as a virtue more since watching FIM. Seeing AJ has made me understand more the importance of honesty in good relations. Society would be a much better place if people were more honest and sincere.

She's very motherly and doting. The patience and understanding she has for Flutter in Dragonshy, her doting on Bloomberg in Over a Barrel, her protectiveness of Apple Bloom in Bridle Gossip. Even her more overbearing moments like Apple Family Reunion and Somepony to Watch Over Me come from a place of care and her just wanting to make sure her family is happy and safe. It's just like that Flawless song says, she's eager to please and most of her episodes are about her wanting to make everyone else happy. She's incredibly virtuous, even when it doesn't benefit her.

I'm liking it too. I'm a bit of a newfag, so I have a lot of ideas bouncing around in my head that I haven't had a chance to discuss with anyone before. It's nice to get my ideas about her in writing and more concrete. If I had to ecapsulate why I like AJ in a single sentence, I like that even her worst flaws come from a place of wanting the best for everyone else. She may be a bit smothering, overbearing, or even harsh at times, but she'd always be there for you.

Last year. Watched through season 1 for the first time in February 2024.

I've used 4chan since 2017ish. Mostly hung out on /tg/ lurking the cyoa generals, then after I started watching MLP i started combing through past MLP threads on Desu to see what kind of discussions were had in the past and trying to get an idea of what Anons who came before thought of the show. Then Started frequenting here to take part in stuff more directly. This has actually been my first anni stream. I hadn't become a regular lurker yet this time last year, I was still scrolling through Desu threads like a medieval scholar going through ancient lost texts.

That a lot of anons were really stupid and had no idea what they were talking about, lol. Can't believe the amount of idiots back then that would unironically call AJ a Mary Sue because she wasn't prone to hysterics or acting like a bitch, as if those are the only character flaws in existence. Pretty well, actually. My greentexts I've made have received very positive reactions, even from non-applefags apparently. Previous works of mine on /tg/ were also well received, so I guess I have a decent knack for writing. Just wish I was better at focusing on 1 story and getting it finished. At least my methods seem to be good at creating decent stories, just a might slow on the writing part.

I have one, but nothing on it yet. I've got some stories though in mind for fimfic, namely additions to the Ending-verse, if you've read any of those. I like grimdark, but I feel like some of them go a little overboard on the grimderp and wanted to do my own take on them. I do have a Ponepaste for my greens specifically though.

Yea. Doesn't help that I also keep my interests divided and work on non-pony stuff to make sure it doesn't get stale. at least the upside is I can write a bit every day and improve my skills, even if it isn't pony I'm writing at that moment. I've got some stuff that's pretty close to being publishable though, just gotta actually sit down and finish connecting stuff together and edited.

Also yea, forgot to address this part. AJ fails in her goals more often than any other mane 6 does. Her biggest episodes are about her not being able to succeed despite her best efforts and needing help and support from her friends. So many anons on Desu who had no idea what actually makes a Mary Sue and thought that simply not being unpleasant in personality means a character is flawless, while other characters who succeed at everything they do and never suffer and substantial failure are fine because they're slightly selfish. Oh well, I guess Mary Sue is usually more of a buzzword in most circles these days anyway, and at least now people don't seem to accuse her of it much anymore.

Glad, I try to make them as high quality a I can without being so perfectionist about them that I never finish anything.
I like grimdarks, I just wished more authors of them kept the ponies more in character. I know that sounds like a stupid complaint, characters being uncahracteristically mean in a grimdark MLP story, but I do think it's possible to have darker stories with grim subject matter that has the characters still in character. There's enough of a foundation that characters can be meaner than you would expect without them being OOC, some are harder than others obviously(Applejack is obviously one that's pretty difficult to write as mean-spirited without it being super OOC), but there's enough flexibility to make it work, especially if you go the route of actually going in on the difficulties a human would face in trying to adapt to an alien culture as I like to emphasize in my own works.

Thanks for the encouragement. I like experimenting with formats and tropes, so some of my in development stuff can run the gambit as I use them to test out different story telling ideas I come up with. I'm sure some of them aren't as good as other more conventional stories may be, but I think they bring a bit of variety.

Sort of? I take it more of a sign of that person being stupid, because she's far from perfect. She has plenty of flaws, it's just that being a jerk or a cunt isn't one of them. Add on the fact that she probably has the widest variety of hobbies and interest of any of the mane 6, and she's as far from boring as you can get. 'Literally perfect and boring' is the take of someone who thinks being a jerk is the beginning and end of what character flaws look like.
Applejack is unironically too subtle and deep of a character for the average normie to appreciate.

As far as I can see, no mention is made of anyone making a saddle for Amethyst Star. It could be something she got as a gift, or something she got from Rarity off screen. It's origin is pure headcanon, so I'd hardly call that proof of someone being a better designer than Rarity.

Eh, her family uses a big ass machine with a treadmill on it for juicing their apples. Despite what people say about SSCS6000, the Apple family doesn't really seem to be against the use of technology itself.
That being said, I have no idea how a steam juicer works. For me this looks like a distilling setup for moonshine lol. Guess it ultimately depends on how good the juice it makes is.

Fun fact: In México and Latam, Applejack is not seen as the racist pony, Rarity is. Mostly because Rarity's mexican VA also does the voice of Princess Clara from Drawn Together and a lot of video edits were made using the racist jokes she made on that show, plus Rarity being a fancy pony with money, makes easier to turn her into the racist pony, because in Latam more money means being more racist. Applejack on the other hand is seen as a mare of people because she's struggling farmer, and they gave her an mexican norteño accent in the dub.

I mean, in the show that's already kinda the case. If you rewatch Bridle Gossip, the only pony who said anything about the way Zecora looked was Rarity. Plus all the times she called Iron Will a monster and the way she was with the Indian ponies in that one episode, Rarity objectively has a way bigger streak of being actually racist than Applejack does.

I'm late, but i also did some Pumpkinjack today. First time ever doing the whole carving pumpkin stuff with friends, it was pretty fun. Might need a bigger pumpkin for next year so that it is easier to make the details.

it's not hard, the most annoying thing is taking out the interior of the pumpkin, but i suspect i didn't have the best tool for the job at my disposal. After you got your pony sketch in the actual pumpkin, carving it out is nothing more than basically tracing a drawing

I would've posted this a week ago, but I lost track of the thread, and then procrastinated. You guys need a bump now, however. I commissioned another piece of artwork about Applejack, a comic, based on another very short story I wrote. Usually, the Flashfic contest has a 150 word limit, but this one had a word limit of 250 instead. The prompt was "And Some Pain Too":

Applejack felt like she’d been bucked in the gut. Really, she’d been bucked in the gut more than a few times in her life, and bucked *in* the gut a lot quite recently, and the pain she felt now wasn’t quite as bad as the former, unnoticeable compared to the latter. She lay on her side in the straw in one of the barns, the same barn in which she’d entered the world, and even feeling like an apple skin without much fruit in it couldn’t knock the smile off her face.

She looked at her deflated belly. For nearly an entire year, she’d looked at it, and wondered about the Apple therein. Now she had her answer. She looked past her postpartum body to again admire the newest member of the Apple family. Struggling to stand on wobbling legs, was a short and sweet little foal, a colt as green as Granny Smith and with hair as blond as that which framed Applejack’s vision.

He nearly fell flat on his face yet again, but she reached out her head to steady him, and marvelled at how her powerful neck and head were nearly the size of his entire little body. She let him stand on his own, and sweetly beckoned him into her embrace. He fell into her forelegs, and she hugged him tightly against her chest. The foal wasn’t crying, but she heard Big McIntosh and Apple Bloom were.

Now she had her son, and some pain too.
