Gemini allows lewd content as long as it’s not foalcon (it’s possible to do it with Gemini, but the VN doesn’t offer as much flexibility in presets as Silly, for example).
Same for Claude.
DeepSeek doesn’t really give a fuck.
You may need to adapt the prompts a bit for Scenes and Convos.
I've never tried adding NSFW sprites, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

You can create CustomLocations (no coding needed) folders with your backgrounds and then switch Location Management to manual. That'll add a button to change the background manually during scenes and conversations.
You can try Dynamic too, but then you have to trust the AI to switch to the right locations by itself based on the names you gave them.
That only works in Sandbox Mode.

1) Gemini self-circuits if it sees that the current generation may violate its ToS. disabling streaming is the easiest way to solve it (but you may get blank replies due to connection timeout)
2) your thinking prompt does stay clearly that model must continue after thinking. by the time model done with thinking - it forgot or has no idea it should something else

There's a macro called {{roll}}.
You can use {{roll:d20}}, for example, in presets, prefill, etc. It's not rolled by the AI itself, so the "result" can't be cheated. It's what most of those presets use.
I did notice the AI sometimes tries to cheat if it's not in prefill, like, I can see what I rolled in the console, but it announces another number. Most of the time, though, it respects the roll.

A good way around that is to just use the macro yourself in your message; for example:
(*Describe action.* I rolled {{roll:d20}})
That way, the AI can't cheat you at all.

Here's my methods for making Chrysalis appear places without having a CustomCharacter

1) Literally just say "Chryaslis appears."
2) Have Shutterbug shed her disguise through a prompt. (Use *prompt* or 'prompt' in your text)
3) Use a Custom Scenario when visiting another pony that makes Chrysalis come by.

I tried GLM briefly, but it felt a bit too classic/LLM-like for me with its structures and such.

i'm working on an extension to try automate this stuff. But since we're on the topic, I wouldn't mind feedback for how it should work from those who have experience in doing summarizing/lorebooks well.
I've read all the relevant reentries, ST docs etc, but there is no substitute for real experience.

how it currently works by default:
omits the most recent response from logic. if you just got a response you might want to swipe it away, and wouldn't want it included in summaries/lorebooks

examines the last 2 messages, determines if there's a scene break between them (change in location, major character arc etc)

if there is a scene break, turns it on (a visual thing in the UI where the scene is given a name, and there's a bar where you can easily navigate to that point in the roleplay)

throws all the messages in that scene to AI to summarize, and parse out information that should go into lorebook entries.
These summaries are versioned and attached to that scene, so you can swipe between them if you want to manually try generate a different one

compares the latest scene summary against the total summary, determining what needs to be updated

parses the lorebook entries suggested from the scene, making new ones, and if an entry already exists, passes the new and existing to AI to update

all the lorebook stuff is done as a 'chat' level lorebook, tied to this specific chat automatically and will use the correct one if you make a new chat with the same card, change card etc. leaving the 'world' lorebook slot open for if you have one for the character/setting


I had AI design the prompts used for all this so it will be pretty garbage and need refining, still working the bugs out for the functionality. It's far too verbose currently, though does work better in real usage where scenes are multiple related messages, rather than just one that i'm using in the example here

NTA but it's already a feature that's solely missing. You can bind personas to specific cards rather than just chats (now; it wasn't the case in the past), but then you end with a list of 20+ personas—most of which are only ever used for one character or even a specific chat.

It's only a minor inconvenience, but hiding making a char-specific persona that's kept out of the list would help with the clutter. You could write it into the card's description, but that's inelegant and won't work well with many presets.

Sorry for the wall of text:

I RP in both second person present tense and third person past tense depending on the mood or scenario. Recently I saw an image posted of an older unicorn Twilight, and it gave me the urge to roleplay with her. I started reflecting on what a greeting could be and came up with a small backstory.

This version of Twilight almost died during the Crystal Empire/Sombra incident, which forced her to stop adventuring and altered the timeline; so there's no alicornhood, no Tirek, and such. She's an aging unicorn mare whose mane has begun to show streaks of gray, one who spends her days reading to her fill and helping in the Golden Oak Library. She has a good life and her friends are still her best friends (because no force can break that), but there's a voice in her mind always asking about the "what ifs." So she developed a spell to see what could have been.

The tone of it seemed more suited to past tense, so that's what I chose. Here's the greeting and how I RP with it as a showcase. This one was more for personal use, but since the card isn't too shabby, I thought I could polish it a bit and share.

agreed, i'm working on the least terrible option:

have lorebook entries categorized by type (character / location / item etc)
have it keep a non-included lorebook entry per type which includes all the entries within it at a high level (name, keywords, brief synopsis)

when parsing lorebook entries
- first prompt is given the new entry we're assessing, and the listing of entries of that type. it assesses if anything is a likely duplicate. if not, it just makes a new entry
- if anything is a likely duplicate, it asks for the relevant entries which are then send in a followup prompt to reassess

the logic for doing all of this automation will probably take awhile, but it should hopefully balance out overall in having to process less roleplay messages (those that have been processed could be hidden from context once you have the summary/lorebook)

Installing Dashie Mod seems to make the title screen say it's version 1.0.41 again. It removes the "custom start" button so I'm assuming other features are rolled back from 1.0.6 as well. Any way to fix this so I can play with the mod on the new version?

The Dashie mod was made by another anon back when older versions of the VN were released.
It added:
- Dynamic location switching
- Dynamic character entering/leaving
- Sleepovers
- Having your own house
Etc.
All the features were so good that they were later ported into the main VN.
Version 1.0.6 now has everything Dashie added and more, like Canterlot, manual location switching, adding characters, etc.
I'm keeping the mod for historical reasons and because I still find it insane how much work that anon put into it back then, but if you have 1.6, you don't need Dashie anymore. You are downgrading by installing it.
Just redownload a clean version and play that, your saves are kept, don't worry.

I remember adding a warning about that on the Dashie page, but I can't see it now. I must've forgotten to port it when I moved some other mods.

In the CoreCharacters folder, you'll find folders for the Mane 6.
If you look at Twilight, she has a character.json, but Pinkie doesn't.
That's because the characters already have some info built into the code itself, but as a user, you can overwrite it by creating a character.json for them. Twilight's file is there as an example.

So, you can create a character.json for Pinkie and just add a name + description field.
Name her "Pinkie Pie," and in the description, write what you want the AI to understand about her personality and traits.
It'll be sent automatically every time you have a discussion or scene with her.

No. Custom Characters aren't in the code at all, they're just external files. It was made so anons can create them without going into the code at all.
If you don't see descriptions for them, it simply means that:
1) The anon who made the character trusts the AI enough to know who it is without a description. Big models like Gemini, for instance, already know a lot about MLP, so you don't always need to specify colors or personality traits. Models already know who Luna or Fluttershy are.
2) They left it open for the user to add their own headcanon.

It overrides for CoreCharacters, but there's basically nothing there to begin with, I mostly let the models do their thing.

I currently got caught on a turbo autism non pony card which has to keep track of a fuck ton of shit, and Claude does a great job at summarising.
Just tell it something like

It does it pretty well and you can just copy it to a new chat.
If it has too much shit to keep track of it takes a long time, and when it happens it gets a forced stop and you get aj unknown error. Either try again or tell it to ignore specific moments, like damage calculations.
If you need too much stuff, you tell it exactly what parts to summarise, copy the result somewhere, delete the answer, edit to summarise a different part and copy it and so on. Then start a new chat and paste what you created, and it will generally continue pretty well with minimal losses, but fair warning, it racks up your per-message token count, and you need to do this shit often.

This is much dumber than it sounds. It just bakes the antislop sampler behavior into the model by finetuning it. That sampler was created a year ago (by the same author), and all it does is n-gram and regex matching, while mode collapse is semantical. If you penalize token sequences, the model will just make up creative synonyms:
