I believe that when they wrote Cozy they would use what actual psychopaths do to make her creepy. People's idea of a psychopath seems to be someone who completely lacks empathy and remorse. They take the idea and push it to the extreme. Does she want to become an empress of her own intuition (no escape route) or did she do all of this because Tirek told her to (plenty of escape routes). What we learn here is that yes, she did it on her own intuition because she never uses any of those escape routes. Right? Well no and this is why Cozy is a metaphorical chess player. She could have pushed all the blame on Tirek's letters but she never did. She didn't do this because then she would have nothing. No vortex and no Tirek. This is where the psychopathy starts creeping in with plans within plans but never any fireworks. If she succeeds with the vortex she wins. If she is united with Tirek she wins. It's all about creating an environment for herself where she always wins.
Is it better than the vortex victory? Who knows? The point is that Cozy doesn't dwell on that loss because now she has a brand new game with a brand new friend. It's the reason she is happy when she is united with Tirek and not sad because she's behind bars. She has successfully moved a pawn to the other side of the board while the rest of the ponies were too busy worrying about the school incident.
When we first meet Cozy she is crying and I believe she is genuinely sad at this point because she doesn't have a plot going. Nobody wants to play chess with her.
So like you were saying. How would the Tirek files be either proof of innocence or guilt if she keeps creating these win/win situations no matter what? Well they don't. I'm sorry. My meme was wrong. I just wanted to use the word the Tirek files.
Cozy's brain is always on flight mode. There are no great victories. There are no great defeats. There is only the plotting scheming to prevent boredom.
