Congratulations to this year's Miss /mlp/ 2025: that peppy pink professional party pony who's always ready with a joke and a song when you need it the most, the Element of Laughter and the princess of FUN, PINKIE PIE! Standing with her in the winner's circle is fellow smile enthusiast Minuette, the friendly happy-go-lucky dental mare standing ready with the toothbrushes once you've all finished your victory cake. Alongside our beautiful Bronze Medal winner Pear Butter and our wonderful 4th place Roseluck, and all our winners in the Mini-Brackets and Royal Round Robin, let's all give one more round of applause to this year's board royalty!

This thread will likely serve as the last of the tournament unless it hits bump limit more quickly than expected, but I suspect Miss /mlp/ 2025 will now be winding down as we celebrate our victors.The Post-Pageant Questionnaire is still ongoing if you would like to offer any feedback, commentary, or suggestions to Miss /mlp/ pageants, there are a lot of topics added to it this year that would be open for discussion as well, though I intend to let the poll run for a couple of days to gather votes before revealing the results. No offense to the Pinkamena bros, but I always felt like she was more of a fandom OC that was inspired by the gag of her hair deflating in Season 1. I've seen that be used as an argument for that but it just kinda read to me as a cartoony slapstick gag rather than "Yep, this is a psycho goth murderer chick". I know back in like, the early 2010's a lot of people didn't really get the appeal of a truly happy character if they weren't hiding something evil or being distorted into something bad, so Pinkie had a lot of fans who only really liked her for that side.

Ultimately though it kinda feels like a Superman situation where a lot of people just don't find much interesting in that kind of purity and will want to find something else, hence all of the evil/corrupted Superman stuff that exists out there. I dunno, just my musings on it though.

The thing is that you can do a darker Pinkie without it turning into Pinkamena. Like... if we're being honest about Party of One, the lesson there is that Pinkie has BPD. The moment she doubts her friendships it leads to a massive spiral that would've been absolutely devastating if they hadn't directly proven her delusions incorrect. A realistic Pinkie probably does have a few times a year where she doubts all her friends and acts really hostile and then is super apologetic afterwards because that's not who she wants to be.

It's more that I just don't see that in her at all, personally. Being like, edgy and vengeful and violent doesn't exactly ring as super complex either, at least not in the way I see it expressed through Pinkamena. In Party of One, we saw Pinkie's fear of isolation and insecurity get the best of her as she had a really bad depression spiral; she was so altruistic and caring of her friends birthdays that she completely forgot that it was her own.

In the Smile Song, we even see Pinkie pull herself out of a pit by herself as she says "it's true some days are dark and lonely, and maybe you feel sad, but Pinkie will be there to show you that it isn't that bad"; it's a visual metaphor showing her own personal strength to pull herself out of her own darkness. I see complexity and character growth there myself in terms of tackling your own inner darkness, and a lot of Pinkamena content just kind of disregards that for shock value. GRANTED, there's nothing wrong with that, it's just always kinda weird when Pinkamena gets projected onto canon Pinkie as I really don't think it's her, and people often end up having two entirely different versions of the character. I do think it's definitely something someone could argue that Ponk may have some form of depression and has shown great strength in combating it, though.

When given the option between a secondary character and a member of the Mane Six, the average anon with no distinct association with either will choose the Mane Six member more often than not. If Pinkiefags were rigging based on the previous round, which again, that's the only information they had to work with, they would've ended up having the biggest victory in the entire round.
