My other issue with it is lack of organic sound- it takes effort to make it appear analog-ish. There's plenty of electronic music sounding polished however but still it's not enough.
Another problem I see is specifically with electronic music that presents itself as heavy. Very often it brings along harsh noises that end up simply irritating you instead of possessing you with a positive and aggressive spirit.
And no, instruments are not dead. As a producer you may mimic what the instrument does but it's very uncommon for someone do be a master of each one of those used in something like a regular rock band, so a very likely outcome is that you create something that has all the bases covered but doesn't offer anything exceptional in the end.
