it isnt the heat it is the speed modern people try to work you at. Its fucking crazy industrial robot speed. Not even fucking slaves picked cotton at the rate these fucking farmers expect you to pick at.
For historical perspective towns or collectives would harvest all together, entire families working and even other skilled crafts would help out with other tasks but in general it was a team effort and they worked sunup to sundown at a normal human picking pace.
It infuriates me that they expect humans to work at the same speed as machines in modern day. I wouldnt mind picking crops for that wage if they didnt expect me to sprint everywhere and work so fast that I might hurt myself. No wage is worth breaking your back over.
