Chapter 7 now, just going to go back and do a bunch of side jobs to rank people up. Getting a suppressed sniper was worth it.

Kinda mixed on how vehicle-centric the world design is, plus how early it seems ziplines are online. Less than halfway into the game you get them.

it was certainly implied in the first game but that's not really the issue. its just glossed over so quickly, did he do something to increase his DOOMS? is it a side effect of using a BB for so long? just seems like Kojima didn't want to deal with the BB shit anymore and then STILL found a reason to give you a BB for the entire game

DOOMs is basically just the level of a connection that you have with the other side. So interacting with the afterlife in any way could increase it. Sam definitely did plenty of that. I was honestly surprised that his DOOMs is so low in DS1.

Quite literally the only thing I'm somewhat disappointed with so far is how traversal feels a fair bit easier in this compared to the 1st due to how quickly you unlock broken tools but I don't know if the game introduces new environmental challenges later on so I'll hold off on saying this is criticism for now. Outside of that yeah literally better in every single way.

I'd have such sympathy for this guy if he just had slightly more motive to be so nihilistic.

in the first game he supposedly went from a good man to how he was in that game because Amelie told him it was his grand purpose to cause the Final Stranding.

now it turns out she backed out of this entire thing, so his reasoning for wanting the Final Stranding shouldn't really exist.

its very clear though in this game, him hamming up the big super evil villian is a facade, he's in incredible amount of pain and only shows it in this scene in the entire two games.

the first boss fight is weird, made me wonder if I was doing it wrong because it's such a bullet sponge. the second boss has very clear weak spots and a more reasonable time to beat, but holy shit that first one is wack. And yes I was still getting the slow motion weakspot hits, it just didn't do shit for damage

And normal is literally the same game I think hard just does 150% damage to you. So if you aren't dying on medium, you probably won't die in hard

Some things are best left simple though, DS1 was enough to have your Therapy wife and unborn child die.
DS2 made it a complicated love triangle and retcon Sam's child to be Lou. I can accept the baby being a special chosen one but Lou being the biological child of Sam is just contrived.

Is Sam even aware of Neil's affair anyway?

The first game story wasn't good either, it was just less boring as a lore dump on new stuff about the Death Stranding as it was the first game in the setting.
Second game skipped the fluff and goes into a yarn ball tangle of cheap plot and drama. Easier to digest for mainstream but basically nothing new on the lore itself.

Amelie is really more fucked up than Higgs, who is just someone desperate for meaning (which she gave him).

such a.. thing.. should never have sentience, that's really the crux of the game, sure it means she was finally cajoled to spare humanity, but through her actions she caused the Death Stranding (which is wholely seperate from the Extinction Events, which are natural) which fundamentally broke the physics of this universe, likely forever.

No, I think you misunderstood her choice in DS1. She was born a human but earmarked to kill off humanity from the start as an EE. She's been fighting the doom visions with her Humanity that she gets from the start of BRIDGES, the first voidout wasn't caused by her even if the power was coming from her Beach.

If she just followed her pre-destined path like the 5 other animals etc. Humanity would basically be instant nuked by multiple voidouts and overwhelmed by all the BTs of people who died everywhere.

What she did in the first game was to build enough connection with Sam to voluntary exile herself from the rest of humanity and basically suffered the same fate as Higgs until all of humanity has died out after a few thousand years more. Or not if Humanity managed to adapt to the death stranding.

She's acting as an awkward weird person, unironically.

Too often people think that other people being awkward or weird in movies or games is just bad writing Mario and Princess Beach but that's the point, people are awkward and weird sometimes. Writing that never acknowledges that never feels real

she absolutely caused the Death Stranding by reviving baby Sam, which broke physics, Voidouts were not a thing before her, the past EE's just caused mass dieoffs in a more naturalistic way.

her saving Sam caused the Death Stranding, which let BT's in, which meant mass voidouts and timefall.

thank god, i dont know how games where you're actually using vehicles for hour can release in that state it feels so unpolished

i played through days gone a while ago and despite the bike being central to the game, to the point that theres a fuel mechanic and a bunch of bike customization, theres zero feedback in the controls i fucking hate it. all terrain gives zero vibration, i cant put into words how much that details disconnects me from the game even if the bike handles well

Kojima is in the sweetspot of unhinged fucking retard-ness, where he's skilled rnough to actually get things done, but stupid enough to do bizarre shitpost shit like "literal fedex simulator with antimatter ghosts and you kill ghosts with blood grenades and ride motorcycles and use fetuses to see ghosts"
it's extremely hit or miss but when he hits it's unadulterated one of a kind ludokino
and when he misses it's entertainingly retarded like a child standing up under a table over and over again and getting angry and confused why his head keeps getting hurt

I can only see total likes, and if I hunt for things I've done manually on the map which is really unintuitive, which is weird since when you log-in it says quickly on the side what things has likes yet I can't find a page that lets you see as such in detail

You literally cannot die, and even if you did from a BT then it was up to your choice to accept the consequences. I don't know what happens after a void out happens, with permanent terrain changes or that the landscape returns over time. If it's story related like a mission then it's just a game over. Sure you don't lose anything but you neither progress from the previous shelter if you don't accept to continue.

Go a bit further. Planning routes and then trying to successfully complete them despite surprises and complications is what makes it fun. Deciding what supplies to bring and how much, because you can only carry so much. It continues getting more and more interesting and difficult until you unlock ziplines, which trivialize everything.

The problem about Kojimbo writing is it tries to mirror current events at game release date.
But an elderly German man would never say that, because they were better treated than the Japanese after WW2.

If you like Death Stranding, you should play Alters. I pirated it recently but it's pretty good. Obviously pretty heavily inspired by Death Stranding but with a totally different story and general idea, which is more about how much different of a person you might be if you had made different decisions in life, sometimes even ones that didn't seem important at all. A mix of Death Stranding style gameplay with base building and resource management, and well as basic population management and control.

I'm going to be controversial
the game is a clear upgrade to the original in term of gameplay, even if it's way too easy. but in term of story and presentation I'm really disappointed, it has some good moments yes, but some are just weird for the sake of it, it's wacky for the sake of wacky, it almost betray the original game, the ending feels like some Marvel movie and is completely rushed (when I saw the part with Lou I thought it was going to continue here but no.. The president AI basically goes nowhere and feels like a bad version of the Patriot AI, Die-Hardman just is a funny guy now when he gave the best performance of the original? Speaking of performance, quite a few characters feels worse than the original, including Sam and Fragile. Thank god Troy Baker was here to actual give his best as Higgs. Kojima said he made Neil to be better than Cliff but in the end I felt nothing with him compared to Cliff. Also he basically had no reason to look like Solid Snake, it was just some empty memberberry, same for all Metal Gear in the game. I loved the first death stranding a lot more than this one.
Higgs boss fight was kino as hell though even if it was goofy it was just too kino.
But yeah I would not trust Current Kojima to work on Metal Gear if he wanted to do with with the franchise, I hope Physint won't be like this. Death Stranding 2 is still a good game but probably my least liked Kojima game.

Neil really died to protect a girl who cheated on him and it did not even save her or him, or the child (Sam was the one who saved her). Cliff death was a tragedy, Neil felt pathetic to me. no he couldn't have. he could have maybe been in a couple decent movies and if he was cast right, might have one Oscar nominated role ever.
The alternate reality Baker is his shitty band getting to play SXSW and SNL or some shit.

He's not a bad actor but he's not a great one either. He's got a good vocal range and a serviceable performance most of the time, and it's very telling that the famous voice actor chose to literally use his normal speaking voice for the role because he wanted to really focus on the acting this time and he's still the weakest performance of the main cast

Ironically the only actors to do any were Lucy's, Neil's and Higgs' actors. The rest just exist to be there and talk exposition sometime.

It's like a greatest hit but none of the hits "hits" as good. Some stuff felt like a parody if not an insult. I genuinely don't know if it's done to mock people who wanted DS to be closer to MG, or if Kojima lost his touch, but in the end it felt inferior to both his MG work and the original DS.

Tarman, Heartman, and all the people played by an actor but digitally felahsuited into another person's likeness get a pass from me because that shits weird.
Fragile and sam only feel like weak performances because there is so much of them. 90% of their boring shitty scenes are basic exposition in a blank room with no props and no direction. Of course it feels shitty, but their actual standout scenes are really good (fragile escaping with Lou in the intro)
Similarly, we don't get a lot of Higgs in the game except for his big scenes where he actually gets to interact with other characters and shit happens. That's why it feels comparatively so much better.
But the truth is, Leah Seudeaux or whatever her name is acts fucking circles around him in their shared scenes. He's trying so fucking hard and it's to his detriment. He's intimidated by his costars and it shows in the performance.

Neil and Lucy similarly are much better because their scenes have a fucking point and direction. Reedus is understated in his performance throughout but that's kinda his thing.

Yeah, I agree. DS1 had none of the weird copied-from-MGS scene, and even the Director's Cut DLC made fun of the idea that Sam would sneak around in a box. Then comes DS2 and you get a game that feels like it's made by a fan of Kojima, where he just includes random references to MGS for no particular reason

Intro sequence looks cool above the mountain, but the presentation feels flatter? The first one has that scene with Fragile and the BTs in the cave, then in the first hour you see the necrotization of a dead body, Higgs, BTs and a voidout. This one has some wholesome moments with Lou which are ok, but then Fragile explains the state of things for this game, gives you some weak ass reasons to fo to Mexico. You walk into the Rio Grande amid a sand storm which has some cool effects but whatever and then you reach the first location and sleep, with Lou and kaiju sister gf ominous sequence being the most noteworthy moment I think

the only good thing is the capture thing but it's introduced fairly late in the game.

Yes, there's a reason why the mid-credit teaser already has Elle ready for Death Stranding 3.

My guess was that this was a cash grab or more accurately a ztar-grab by Kojima to get his Hollywood buddies in a sequel as fast as possible to generate as much budget for DS3 before they get commited to other projects.
DS2 is more like 'Elden Ring' type of work where they throw in their best execution while the first game is fresh in people's mind to use as a standard for spinoffs that his creative buddies can use before taking a 5-10y break to make DS3.

Ask yourself, would you seriously consider playing DS2 with a better plot if Norman Reedus and Troy Baker was not in it?

The problem about videogames with stories is that you can't finish the story if you can't beat the game.
That is why successful games barely had story context or were based off existing stories. It was unheard of of a videogame to ever make a good story just because the gameplay limited the telling of that story. That is why everyone only knows about Detroit: Become Human instead of The Nomad Soul, or The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt instead of, The Witcher.

Kojima is probably a bit delusional about how gamers view his star obsession but he is still friends with those guys first and foremost AND he made enough money off DS to fund DS2 and his studio's 200 employee unlike other hacks like Keji.

He is like Wes Anderson where he is able to give average to good exposure to his Hollywood buddies while taking up minimal of their time and paying a decent paycheck. His 200 game dev employees are probably slave drivered or geniuses in their own field to be this productive compared to other studios.

The traversal and delivery mechanics etc are basically immaculate, but vehicle feel isn't great and gunplay is a bit half baked - with that you can tell it's a second priority narratively but that bites you when you hit the mandatory encounters.
Probably an argument for the UI being a bit hit and miss as well.

Death Stranding 2 has the same problem the first game had where its impossible to care about or feel connected to the characters because they don't exist outside of cutscenes. There seems to be some symbiotic relationship between Kojima's obsession with getting major actors into his games, and actually making good games.

The actors do a good job, but that's not what makes the games so good. I suspect that people who have experience in story telling help him refine his ideas and express them in a better way.

End of thread and I just heard this song in game and it's the only one of 29+ so far that is special. I couldn't even find it on youtube for some reason. Give it a listen if you don't consider that a spoiler.

There's a built in recap, extensive logs to read that explain past events, and the entire first act is basically an accelerated replay of what you do in DS1, so yes, you can

However, it will unavoidably hit you with an intimidating amount of lore, and pre-established character relationships count for a lot.

Look just someone tell me, how many XL containers does the truck hold. In DS1 trucks could hold 28 fucking XL containers. I've got 1028 hours on DS1 and I couldn't give a shit about the story. I'm here to deliver packages. So how much cargo can they hold.
Also how much cargo can you load at once on the monorail?
ALSO DS1 had an order limit of 30; you couldn't take more than 30 at once without completing previous orders, which was shit. Has this been increased. No faggot here has actually answered any questions for us autists. Just nonstop story faggotry.

I respect you so much and I wish I could give a solid answer
On the plus side, if you have a bunch of random mats amounts across a bunch of containers, Auto Sort on your back will consolidate them into single packs
maybe that was a thing in the directors cut idk I didn't play that

Why would you take 30 orders at once? Not even the truck can hold that much stuff.

I wish the automatic request perk didn't exist, it makes player request circles really easy to ignore because you don't know if they're intentional or not, nearly 90% of the time with that perk active it'll put a request down that I do not fucking care about or need so it'll just make players ignore them more inherently whether you personally use it or not

Very true. I have already tuned them out because they are absolute dogshit retardation 99% of the time, but sometimes there's one for upgrade material next to a road paver I haven't found and I just wish it wasn't so cluttered because that's useful

I actually like doing the logistics porn. Literally what the endgame was made for. Trust me its very easy to take 30 orders. Just think about it, select around 5 premium orders in 4 or 5 facilities and already you're at 25 orders. Dump them in trucks or private lockers and you're on your way.
Also picking up and delivering thousands of lost cargo to increase bridge link rank at the same time. Fucking sNoy storyfags will pick up this game once, play it for 30 hours and never touch it again. Retards.

Lmao you have no idea. Ziplines travel at 55kph and half that if carry a floating carrier and can carry up to 10XL containers at most. Truck still wins if you are taking multiple orders at once and know how to drive through the snow mountains

Honestly brilliant of Kojima to make such a boring and unfun first game that the only reviewers willing to play the sequel were those that love sucking his cock, leaving no one to criticize how boring and unfun 99% of death stranding's gameplay is

Isn't there like some kind of guideline that you are taught during your psychology studies. Understand your patients, but never empathize with them. Something along those line?
