For me? It's remembering when /mu/ hated this band. Not that you were there to see it.

Every Beatles album you have a couple of amazing tunes, a couple of meh, and some shit grany tunes. But there is such a huge cult of personality around the Beatles that any song that they put out you'll find fans saying is the greatest thing ever.
Lets take Sgt Peppers as an example

Great tunes
>Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
>A Day in the Life
>Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

Good
>Getting Better
>Fixing a Hole
>With a Little Help from my Friends
>Within You Withouth You

Meh
>Good Morning Good Morning
>Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite

Grany tunes
>Lovely Rita
>When I'm Sixty-Four
>She's Leaving Home

I hate the fact that they didn't realy try creating a real Concept album at all, besides three or four songs having references going "Hey guys, remember this is conceptual o algo"

We still can't decide if The Beatles were geniuses or frauds.

A beatles concept album would have been amazing.

Paul would have to fit in his grany tunes somehow.

"tomorrow never knows" already had a proto-shoegaze sound in 66

its a failure of a concept album. The content on it its too dispersed, caused by each member wanting to do their thing.
Not saying its bad

Lets see that John says about Sgt Peppers. I saw this new video recently:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEPZp-uyX5A
1:14:55
>"Its called the first concent album, it doesnt go anywhere. Miss the kite (?), all my contributions have absolutely nothing to do with this idea of Sgt Pepper and this band."
>"But it works, cause we said it works, and thats how it appeared, but it was not as put together as Pet Sounds"
John says its not a concept album

Actually, it's Mr. Kite.
>And John said a lot of crazy goofy things.
>That wacky Beatle.....

>As the years passed by, John grew to loathe and detest most of, if not all of the songs on Sgt. Pepper. In one of his last interviews before his death, John told Playboy Magazine’s David Sheff that Sgt. Pepper not on the same high artistic level as The White Album and also remarked that one of the Sgt. Pepper tracks was simply “garbage.”
>Paul has always considered Sgt. Pepper to be his favorite album. Professional jealousy or sour grapes? Did John really have a point? Who knows
John was based

Half way through watching The Beatles: Get Back. I've never been a big Beatles fan (despite having a few of their records) but the doco is really interesting. I love watching bands work behind the scenes.

There is no concept, lil bro, they were a "different band" but all the tunes could have been on a different Beatles album and no one would notice.

Two songs referencing the album title do not a concept album make. It's under the guise of being a band called "sgt pepper's lonely hearts club band", but that premise would only really 'work' if the music didn't sound like Beatles music. It does, though, with classic beatles hallmarks like George's sitar stuff and Paul's granny music. That's not a knock against the album either. I liked Sgt Pepper. I just don't think it's a very good concept album.

John was in limbo in that era being a suburban dad and getting fat and domesticated. Meanwhile Paul was becoming the cool urban hipster digging all the mod stuff and cutting edge of music. I think John he resented himself for getting soft and not pulling his weight as much as he resented Paul for getting ahead of him creatively. After hooking up with Yoko he tried very hard to reassert his image as the cool and edgy Beatle.
