I dunno which strings too get. I was thinking of getting the 11-48 for my LP in e flat but now I'm thinking I should go thicker. 52 already feels too loose on my 25.5 Jackson in e standard. I don't wanna go thicker than that honestly, would just prefer more tension.

I definitely wanna go 11s on it cause 10s on LP feel too loose but I'm really debating between 48 and 52. Or 50 even. I don't really plan on playing thrash on it, mostly classic and hard rock stuff, but I do like the thicker strings. At the same time I feel like too thick might be a detriment for versatility.
>>127072343>but now they feel weirdly looseI'm thinking about changing from 12s to 13s on my Jaguar as i prefer a higher tension too.
>>127072361Was actually briefly considering 12s too but I think that'll be too thick for the high strings. 11 would be perfect for me. It's just the lower strings I like more tension on. Might work great for a jag though with its short scale.
>>127072245you are supposed to connect your guitar to an amp, anon
>>127072396Maybe you should get some of those heavy bottom string sets.
I always had issues with shoter scale guitars. 10s on 24.75 LP never felt right and it's even worse with the 24 Jag scale. Even 11s are sloppy as hell. Also wound g strings sound just better.
I also have 14s on a 25.5 Jackson but it's tuned down to B. Sadly you can't really get something even thicker. I don't know how people tune that low and use 12s or 13s on Gibsons.
if you like tight strings, just turn the tuningmachines more
thinner strings always sound better. i play 007s. theyre difficult to play. i can bend a held step with finger pressure alone. very thin strings, thin pick, and a very light touch with boost into cranked tubr amps is "the" power chord sound.

Maybe I’ll invest in some Allen key style L shaped Philips wrenches so I don’t have to work as hard to do it. It’s probably not apt to compare this P90 Mustang to my Noventa JM, that has 3 P90s and the bridge P90 is much, much closer to the actual bridge. I’ll have to check out the route on these but maybe I’ll look into scooting it further back on the P90 Stang and see if the brightens it up. This thing sounds phenomenal with light OD all the way through to combining heavy fuzz and distortion, but the clean sound is just a little too warm.

All that said, I’ve played fender black and silver face amps for 15 years. I think in reality the blackface amps (deluxe reverb specifically) will always be the most versatile and universal amps ever, but my experience with my Benson Bellringer has been nothing but pure joy. For one, they have a very prominent mid range, so you will never have any issues cutting through in a full band mix. For two, they are fucking loud for the size of their package. They are also built to a very high objective quality with a super minimal, straightforward design. Whenever you swap out tubes, you don’t have to bring it in to a tech to rebias the voltage. They’re lightweight, loud, beautiful sounding amps that are so practical in terms of their mid range content. Between the regular preamp pedal and the germanium preamp, I am highly partial to the regular preamp. I tried the germanium preamp in a local shop and was underwhelmed by how soft clipping and smooth the gain structure was. The regular preamp has more of a gritty, mean gain structure when pushed, but it adds a very authentic amp like sparkle if you just use it for that low gain edge of break up tone. Personally I like to keep my preamp on low gain at the end of my drive chain so that I can boost it with all my other gain pedals. Helps it to sound more like I’m pushing an already broken up tube amp.

It's so beautiful, but dropping it would hurt my soul. Not to mention the glass everywhere.
>>127076757I would still suggest going to try it out to see if you like the overall Benson tone. For the most part, all his amps have the same tonal character whether you’re talking about his smaller amps or larger ones. If you dig it, you can feel confident about ordering one of his 1x12 amps. I live outside of Portland and have been able to play most of his models at local shops. In my opinion, his Bellringer amp is his magnum opus. Small and lightweight, easy to manage package with enough wattage to cut through in a full band, but the power scaling circuit allows you to tone down the volume at bedroom levels if needed
What kind of slide does /gg/ use and on what finger and to what knuckle?
I just got around to trying pic related after putting it off since playing slide when you haven't conditioned the muscle memory sounds like total shit and I wasn't looking forward to listening to myself suck long enough to suck less.
I found I like using it on my pinky and it's snug at the part where the finger meets my palm, but loose everywhere else. I'm wondering if going smaller and/or a different material would be better. The brass feels clunky, but that's probably mostly me and my sub 5 hours of slide practice. Yes, eventually my other fingers figured out how to mute most of the clatter, but my idiot consoomer brain thinks ceramic or something would be better.
Also, why does every ceramic slide have to have some bullshit written on it. I don't need some spade's nickname or Joe Perry written on shit I buy.
I'm having trouble on the sliding part on the high E,B and G string for 'Wish you were here' at the beginning. Especially sliding back up the fretboard

A lot of people have multiple guitars. How many amps should you have? I’ve only ever had one amp at a time but I’m thinking of buying another amp.
>>127077712you should have a single helix

I really like the Spark. but it's annoying that I could have been doing everything it does on my laptop months ago if it weren't so freaking painful to configure. I kept getting pissed off and playing through my solid state amp and pedals instead
>>127077712If you are actually playing in bands, you should have two amps. A fender blackface or silverface amp, as well as a British voiced amp. You’d probably get the most use out of the fender for how versatile and universal of a tone it provides, but a British voiced amp would be a nice mix up for playing more rock-oriented or blues stuff

Where to blade style pickups sit between regular single coils and humbuckers? I’m thinking about putting together a partscaster and when considering pickups I keep coming back to blade type single coils just because I don’t have anything with those. I’m definitely more of a single coil guy more than a humbucker guy, especially Tele pickups.

The guitar occupies a wide frequency range for flexibility in a band setting, so ONE FUCKING INSTRUMENT doesn't ask the entire REST OF THE BAND to cater to them. This is CRUCIAL for the getting the mix right.

Amps? I have a early aughts MG100DFX recently fixed that was out of commission since the first Obama admin, an Orange Crush 30 and just ordered a MIG-50 and EHX speaker to finally fulfill my tube curiosity. I’ll probably need to get a load or attenuator unit for it but my neighborhood is spacious enough that I should be able to stretch it out a bit. What sold me was the simplicity of it and the ability to use both channels at the same time via stereo pedal or Y cable. It seems to be an excellent amp for a busy pedal board.
