Japan bought up most if not all looms from the US sometime either in the late 70’s or 80’s. The looms were phased out because they had no inconsistency’s with weaving fabric leaving the fabric with more texture and depth. The Japanese turned that ‘flaw’ in the vintage looms into an aesthetic art form making some of the best heavy denim IMO. Then dig into rope dying denim with real indigo over ink dyes.

I'm listening to Cassiopeia, and it's kind of funk. It's jazz, but it leans toward funk. Even much of Masayoshi Takanaka's work is rooted in funk. I personally like Jap jazz, but I understand why jazz fans don't like Japanese jazz. It's because these people don't like the genre. Their taste comes from the accessible funky sound, mainly because of anime and games, and also that thing about Japanese music “sounding different,” which really bothers me about the “different” statement because a lot of non-English music, including pop, sounds different. And these people are incapable of appreciating it; they're not much better than a normie who gobbles up anything that's popular to score points with other normies. That's my only pet peeve. The rest are just butthurt jazz fans grasping at straws.
