It's a skill like any other. You can be very good at maths, sports, woodworking, etc. but have no creative talent.
I, for example, am a bad guitarist but a good musician, I suppose. People compliment me on my compositions and they enjoy the creative process with me, on all sorts of instruments, but I'm just not a technical player. And I've met the two types of players: the really technical ones who can't write a song, and the ones who write very simple but moving songs.
So in the end it's just a skill.

Can't speak for violinists, but pianists are often on the other end of the spectrum. They are often aware of what it is they are playing, you can tell them scales or chords or give them sheet music no problem.
But for that they are also often completely unable to write a single bar of music because that is apparently haram in classical training.

doesnt even have to actually follow a scale across octaves. one shape i always use is a minor pentatonic/blues scale for the 3 low strings, and mixolydian on the same key for the 3 high strings

if that IS a concern, try de-tuning the high-strings instead of the low-strings. ime its easier to keep track of alternate tunings if the bass strings are at least the same intervals as in standard
standard with the high string de-tuned to D makes for an interesting one. you have nice close intervals for chords, and it allows slide players to use a LOT more different intervals than they usually could

try and think of scales that have open strings in these modes that you like. then you can use those open strings to pull off to, or drone, or use as a pedal etc

it seems his solution to imminent doom wasnt worrying or trying to stop it, or even caring about it too much. nah his idea was to try to achieve some sort of diligence/discipline singularity before the timer ran out.
