Why do people always write their life's lore in the comments of songs?

Music means a lot to people, especially if you're well adjusted and receptive to other people's emotions. People like to share those things with other people so they can all feel good and bond over shared experience. Shit that your dad didn't teach you because he had a cold, cold heart.

My brother loved threads like this. If you saw a thread complaining about YouTube comments 5 or 6 years ago, that was probably him, either as the OP or he'd definitely give you a fpbp-worthy reply. I see another annoying trend going on in like 90% of the big rock/metal videos for some time. A lot of the time the top comment on ANY video, including shortform videos not even about music, is one like this where the person is NOOTICING something, usually like the second or third thing you’d think about when watching it. Often in the context of giving someone/something they deem under-appreciated some righteous attention.

For example on a video of a marathon, someone will comment about how they respect the cameramen for having to run backwards to film the runners or something. Or on a hotel room walkthrough the top comment will be “we all gotta give props to the maids for how elite they folded those towels”. Shit like that. Endless praise of blue collar workers and people like cashiers, janitors, delivery drivers, etc. but then they treat them like shit in real life.

People want to be the one shining light on the under-appreciated, and to tear down the over-appreciated, but only to be the guy who showed everyone what is good.
