Seriously, why does anyone even bother with those cheap, mass-produced imports? A real musician knows American-built guitars are in a league of their own. The tradition, the heritage, the patriotic pride of holding an instrument crafted by skilled artisans on American soil... you just don't get that from some factory overseas.

The quality is night and day! Superior woods, meticulous attention to detail, and components built to last generations. Foreign brands might look similar, but they're just hollow imitations churned out in sweatshops. Probably gonna sound retarded but what sounds like a 4001 but in guitar form? That punchy, trebly, aggressive tone BUT retains the attack? I really despise most overdriven guitar sounds since the attack is lost and it just becomes high gain boomer mush.

I guess I'm looking for a very aggressive 'clean' sound in the same way a 4001 gets very aggressive but doesn't lose it's punchiness. I'm pretty sure thicker gauge plays a part but what else? What's a good way to get maximum 'clang' for my guitar before it just turnns to the usual overdrive crap? Examples of what I mean being the intro to Sick Again by Led Zeppelin and Electioneering by Radiohead.

TL;DR: I want all the clang and punch of a Rickebacker 4001 but in a guitar form. An aggressive 'clean' if you will.

a lot of that stuff (on bass) is string noise which you can increase by upping the treble or just playing harder. picking near the bridge can give you that increase in lower mids and natural compression. the growl comes from having a neck as well as middle pickup on the rick compared to a middle and bridge pickup on most basses. you can approximate that growl with a slight amount of very peaky waveform fuzz. boost low mids around 500hz, boost treble, run fuzz, pick near the bridge. ricks are also single coils so you'll probably want those. humbuckers will sound too thick and muddy

Anyways, the other guitar player, who I've known since high school just got a Gibson Les Paul, only months after I got an Epiphone inspired by Gibson Les Paul. If you are looking to record your amp I highly recommend just getting a mic.
I recommend a mic for any recording even if you are using your PC as an amp.
The thing with DI is its digital, you lose the analog fidelity.

It’s ok, it’s thin and stiff. I just kind of threw it in my cart when buying strings from them for the first time. I wouldn’t buy the strap again but I’m also gonna use it cuz I bought it. I had to add an extra hole to get it high enough where I like it.
My Glaser B Bender strap (don’t have a B bender, just figured a strap made for a bender has to be a pretty dang good strap) is just a branded Franklin guitar strap (https://franklinstrap.com/products/original-black-glove-leather-guitar-strap?variant=46239704154347) and is by far the best leather strap I’ve had that wasn’t like fancy and handmade and expensive. It’s a very nice and comfy thick leather strap for $60, only $10 more than the Stringjoy and way nicer

DI....MIC....if they're both going into a DAW, they've been converted into the same fidelity.
depending on what your DAW settings arem the fidelity is not an issue. even if you're just at 24bit 48khz you're already beyond the fidelity of analog recording anyway
