Picrel would probably be good and cheap enough for beginners with that bridge. The traditional 3 saddle bridge drives some people nuts since it's harder to intonate. That's the only big drawback of Teles really, expensive or cheap.

So that one's a G&L which does have a back cut and a non-vintage bridge. The first Fender Teles were basically a working prototype and didnβt have ergonomics quite figured out yet. G&Ls are later down the line.

A Washburn D10 or D11N. The GWL series isn't any good in my opinion but any of the older Washburns on the low end have amazing woods and unbelievably bright LOUD tones. I have taken my D10 to a jam before and people with really expensive guitars always ask me what strings I have on the guitar, they can't seem to get it through their heads that my low end Washburn is louder than their high end money sinks. It really makes them fucking seethe. If you can afford a higher end Washburn someday you'll be a very happy person. Their pro lines are top notch guitars.

No, the flex is that our jap guitars hold tune for literal days of vigorous playing meanwhile Gibsons go out of tune mid song. Seriously though, I get comparing them is apples and oranges, but youβre not paying a premium for a useable instrument with Gibson, itβs about the name, prestige, and their proprietary features which offer little to no value in the way of functionality.

that's a setup issue that plagues all 3+3 headstocks; you'll see bluegrass players always retuning their martins also. nut needs to be compensated for the angle of the strings coming out the back but no one does it. gibsons mistake was setting up their plants in black cities. building a gibson has a ton of extra steps (pore filling with stain and sanding, routing binding and scraping the top, gluing the headstock veneer and inlay, binding and filing the neck and undercutting the frets, 10 layers of nitro finish in which the undercoat has to be sanded etc). you can't really compare that to an unbound, solid color, set neck, urethane piece of shit in terms of fit and finish. it's more like building an acoustic guitar in which ironically their guitars have equal fit and finish but better quality than something like martin where their finish delaminates, the binding pops loose, or the neck needs reset in 10 years. but those are built in a white part of the country

Keep this is mind. It's always alphabetical. So actually learning the 5th string A is quite easy because it actually GOES in alphabetical order up the neck starting from A which is what you're used to.
The two E strings just start on E instead of A. That's half your strings...
I memorize phrases for the dots on the fretboard.
Open Strings & 12th fret: Eat A Darn Good Breakfast Everyday
3rd fret dot: Go Cook Fish And(#) Don't Gag - just remember the A is a sharp.
5th fret dot: All Donkeys Go Crazy Every April
7th fret dot: Be Excellent And Don't Flick(# sharp) Boogars
9th fret you have to sound out fully: Cee sharp Eff sharp, BEGsharp Cee sharp
10thfret (no dot): Dinosaurs Got Cold Fast And Died
12th fret: (you already know this because of the open strings).

pic related, I had one of the import cyclops guitars and they kick ass. the Satin finish feels a bit better in the hand but then...it will also semi gloss over time so that kinda blows.

Ibanez are soulless guitars that attention starved dudes jerk themselves off to. Theyβre not for making music unless you play a very specific kind of metal. I really canβt think of that many other popular bands outside of the offspring, korn and that polyphia that play Ibanez. They were a lot more common when 7 strings were popular with nu metal and there werenβt many options outside of Ibanez, but almost everyone who did play them has moved on to better gear.

Ok question for the better musicians here. Can you hear a riff and play it? How long did it take you to develop this skill and how do you train it?
I feel like Iβm absolutely shit, cause I canβt do it at all. Sometimes I get a note right but thatβs about it. Iβve even fucked up the direction the notes were going.

I still remember the first riff I wanted to "write" in my head, I had just bought the bass, I was 14. I couldn't translate it. The lyrics went "Daisy, Daisy, you 've gone craazy since the laaast---pimp who threw you out in the streets" and that's as far as I wrote. At some point without me noticing, maybe a year, maybe two, it just happened. I start from a note I clearly have in my head from the riff or the song and I go forwards or backwards from that note. If you do that for 20-30 songs and find them on your fretboard you will start recognising the intervals quicker.

Fender stratocasters and their derivatives, fender telecasters, and gibson les pauls comprise the majority of all recorded modern recorded music. Your precious ibanez is a stratocaster knock off. Ibanez as a company started as a budget import knock off brand of fender and gibson. It's no different now. They're not doing ANYTHING revolutionary that you can't get in another guitar that sounds and looks better. Shut the fuck up.

For the most part depending on the mix and how easy it is to hear the guitar parts. If I have the stems then it's usually pretty easy to figure out unless it's some weird jazz chord or voicing I'm not used to. Other than that I can usually figure a song out in a couple of minutes assuming it isn't extremely technical.

the area that you mute on both the lo pro and a standard floyd are identical beyond the lo pro having the mild gotoh contours (gotoh made the lo pro for ibanez for decades).
no one rests their palm on the whale tail.
and "edge" purely refers to swappable knife edges

I agree wholeheartedly, the Beretta being the first example that springs to mind that copied his humbucker placement. What I was getting at though is he was basically winning pro circuit races with clapped out corollas that he built in his garage, its a testament to how good he was, not the brand of guitars he played. I too have my own 80's shitplank shredder that was definitely inspired by his affinity for doing whatever he wanted.

I don't remember anyone shitting on him. A lot of shitting on instrumental shred music, but there was still respect for Eddie during the 90s..even if the old VH days were gone. And all the newer rock guys still held him up. Dimebag, Zakk, Slash, Cantrell, etc.. Even Dave Navarro and Billy Corgan and Frusciante were like EVH fanboys when they were young, just like everyone else.

Eddies main Strat was a charvel with a wax potted Gibson paf in the bridge. He invented the Floyd rose later on but originally it had a fender trem on it. I wouldnβt say it was garbage aside from him wearing all of his frets and necks down. Wayne charvel was already building custom shredding guitars when Eddie put his together. It was a cosmetic second, but still just as good playability wise as anything else.

Most songs are so over produced that the guitars kind of blend into the mix and itβs hard to tell what theyβre actually doing. Just look up βsong - isolated guitarβ or βguitar only.β A lot of them come from rock band but a lot of them are being done with ai and other techniques now too.

Eddie played a Les Paul before he built his super Strat.
>>127451671
Wayne charvel basically invented the super Strat in the 70s. Grover/jackson (of Jackson guitars) bought charvel in the late 70s. Lots of guys played them in the 80s. Charvel is now owned and manufactured by fender. Itβs basically a Strat with humbuckers, a thin flat unfinished graphite reinforced maple neck, Floyd rose, gotoh or sometimes a hard tail bridge. Usually Seymour Duncan pickups had fishmans for awhile there. Essentially itβs just a hot rodded Strat, but they work well for any genre of music.

Charvel was basically the first maker of third party Strat bodies and necks in the 70s afaik. Eddie picked up one that he made into his Frankie.
But Charvel eventually sold to Jackson. So basically they were a Jackson side brand through the 80s and 90s. Same Superstrat market as Jackson, but Jackson tends to make slightly edgier and new body shapes like Ibanez or V guitars like the Rhoads. Charvel's have always kind of been suped up rounder Strat type bodies without all of the edgieness of a Jackson or Ibanez.
Later on, Fender themselves bought Jackson, so both Charvel and Jackson are all under the Fender umbrella now. Along with EVH's own brand. You could think of it as Fender's Superstrat market. Fender is sort of the granddaddy of California guitars, and now they make every type.
