Pretty much all my family and I went to the California universities with large Asian populations (UCLA, Cal, Standford, USC), but Irvine is certainly different. Most of the departmental graduation ceremonies were mostly Asians. Chinese and Indians always outnumber Koreans or Japanese. Even some Midwestern engineering schools like University of Illinois are huge landing spots for Asian students.
