People have the misconception that the way that you solve a problem is to elect the right people. It's nice to elect the right people, but that's not how you solve things.
The way that you solve things is to make it politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right things.

But when a musician is basically a clown telling you who their favorite prostitute is, the musician themselves clearly have some subsidy or grant to gain, or they are extraordinarily confused, or they are sick of the other side.

They want those grants and subsidies.

You have a platform, a soap box and you can sway people, but it doesn't mean you should, because it's stupid and that's not what we're here for. Get real. They don't care about you. They want what's in it for themselves.

Sniveling that "entertainers shouldn't have political opinions" is bullshit, just like supposed "cancel culture". If entertainers should stay out of politics, that that includes Hannity/Gutfeld/Carlson and all the Fox entertainers as well. So perhaps the MAGA trash should lead by example if they feel so strongly about it.

When it comes down to it, entertainers make the same choice in voicing their politics as any other business. They may risk losing a significant percentage of their fanbase by taking sides, or (as in the case of Tay) nobody gives a fuck except for buttblasted MAGA trash who didn't listen to her music anyway.

It's a business decision and is the very definition of a 1st Amendment right. fake-ass martyrs who say "waaaaah I got cancelled because I spoke up with my right-wing bullshit or antivax bullshit!" are full of shit. I am a conservative who listens to a ton of music, much of it being experimental. So I’m extremely used to separating an artists politics from their music, doesn’t bother me at all.

I accept that the music world is pretty much dominated by leftists. A lot of fellow chuds on here are unable to shelve their politics for any time, thus they end up stuck listening to dad rock and classical only. They refuse to listen to anything new. It’s really embarrassing and pitiful.

Yeah, I know that leftists would not be nearly as sensible if the shoe were on the other foot, very few of them would be cool with it like I am. The overwhelming majority of them would be totally unwilling to support a conservative, they are just like chuds in that they simply can’t let go of politics for a moment, they even claim everything and everyone is political. But it’s whatever.
