there is a direct correlation between how good a metal album is and how many drugs the band members were on while making it. Notice how every album to come out of a once-great metal band started to become shit the moment they became sober.

Maybe if they were progressively less sober early on they struggle with the detox and addiction later on.
High functioning junkies are high functioning and completely different when they’re off the gear, and if you just slowly become more and more comfortable with the use as you work you can keep working until you stop using then you’re basically fucked. I don’t know if that’s what happened here though

not true for Black Sabbath, they seemed to get worse the harder they got into drugs. not true for Iron Maiden either who were anti-drugs
