Yeah, they probably didn’t grow up in a setting where they listened to either no music or only music with lyrics. Both my parents are classical musicians so it was easy for me because it was in the environment. Maybe you didn’t and found classical yourself, in which case I think that’s awesome. But I’m excited to share my love of classical with others who may not have had any exposure to classical. They may fucking hate it - thats okay - but it’s harder to hate it when I accept them where they’re at while showing them what I listen to it for (and don’t play shit like Britten for them off the rip).

Get some DT770s, those babies stay comfy for hours, their pads are something else. Used to have AKGs and had to replace my pads with second hand DT770 pads because they're by far the most comfortable headphone pads I have ever worn. The also sound great and are still closed back.

NTA, but I know what you mean. I'm the same way. While music is not my top specialty, I'm specialized in another art form and I don't shit on those who aren't specialized in it. I think of myself as a "constructive elitist". I know I have a deeper than usual understanding of my area of specialty, but I don't get joy from ridiculing the unwashed masses. What I get joy from is guiding anyone willing and curious about my specialty. Ridiculing someone for their ignorance will only push them further away from knowledge. Why would they get into a thing if the people who love it are just elitist assholes? Think of a professor holding a lecture but mocking anyone who doesn't already know the topic.

Not when I've had electrostatics for a few years. To give you an idea, when I went to a live concert for the first time I was a bit let down that the sound clarity and imaging is indistinguishable from my headphones at home.

i literally bought pic rel (unsigned) solely for price's recording of nuits d'été with fritz reiner. chicago/reiner are their usual sumptuous selves, but price is actually unable to bring the necessary nuance to her singing and it all ends up sounding kind of the same. oh well!!

I like the performance but jeez, 22 minutes? Not even going to observe the repeat in the first movement? Even Bohm and Szell did that and they almost never do for Mozart.

How important are inner movements to you? Should they be briefer than the outer movements, equal length or longer?
