He doesn't have one. That's how he wins. People will debate over which one is the "best" because they are all unique and good, and are all better than the others in some way. For me it's Loverboy. For someone else it will be Pom Pom.

The downside is that none of his albums stay as good albums front to back. They all fall apart at a certain point. But 2 or 3 good songs remain. That is how he wins.

Nobody posts links in these threads retard. Ariel has like 60 million streams on Spotify is it really that hard to imagine he has enough cultural relevance to generate organic discourse in 2025?

Pom Pom. I know it's probably the most basic and entry level answer, but I combed through his stuff and it's still my favorite, and Picture Me Gone is my favorite song of his.

He's really an amazing artist, and the only person I really think of as doing anything similar is Billy Childish.

He says a lot of retarded shit, though. For subversive, anti-PC opinions, the Negative XP guy is way more intelligent, insightful, and worthwhile. I think it's really stupid people tried to cancel him and the Iced Earth guy though, I thought Jan 6th was fucking stupid but I also don't think either of them did anything bad.

His music is dogshit he has no talent and nothing smart or interesting to say. Seth Putnam was far more intelligent and talented

No. Seth Putnam was a great performance artist, but his commentary was almost all performance that needed to be interpreted. He wasn't actually giving analysis, so people had to read between the lines. Very transgressive, funny guy, but the Negative XP guy gives more insightful analysis because he's just himself and isn't making a point in his behavior, unlike Putnam. Impaled Northern Moonforest is great though

Hypnagogic pop isn't a real genre it's more like a set of characteristics and sounds that can be applied to tons of things. but it's also sort of a post/progressive-noise scene that broke off from like animal collective and eventually became new age, glitter rock and everything inbetween. Hype Williams sounds like Demon Sweat by Ween. Ariel Pink sounds like R. Stevie Moore. James Ferraro sounds like whoever the fuck he wants because he was a cokehead and made 80 albums a month. Sun Araw sounds like The Upsetters but with Acid Rock guitar. It's all Hypnagogic Pop but it's all different at the same time, so what matters.
