When I was young, I worried a lot about mind control and beams in your mind, proper tinfoil hat stuff, now I'm in my mid-30s and I've long since realized thr majority of the human race is far too dumb and easily manipulated to ever need actual mind control devices. Hell, these days you just pay off a couple dozen influencers that can halfway decently pretend to have natural opinions on something and you've shifted perception in such an instant and massive way that it might as well be called magic. And I'm not even saying I'm above it or immune to it myself, it's just plain and blatant and there, and it still works.
