Initially they even seemed quite flattered and excited about being allowed to play there.
At least until it was unofficially revealed that Sven Zimper (aka Unhold) from Luror and yes, Absurd, would be playing on stage with Cold Earth.
As to be expected from spineless cowards like Pakkt and Hexer, they immediately shat their pants because they were afraid to get canceled from their own fanbase or be disallowed from playing gigs in some "Alternativen Jugendzentren" for playing on the same stage as an Absurd member.
Instead of simply cancelling, they did the unspeakable.
They contacted the management of this year's headliner, Uli Jon Roth, to complain and smear the Alm team for hosting a neo-Nazi, increasing the pressure on the organizers to cancel Zimper (who in private has been a regular at the festival for years).
An act like this is obviously not something to be taken lightly but rather puts the existence of this entire festival, which meant a great deal of fun for a community of clandestine initiates every year, at risk.
The organizers don't line their pockets with the proceeds (sure, a not insignificant portion goes into cocaine, but let a man live for Lucifer's sake). Instead, they pour all the earned money, their passion, creativity, blood, and sweat into this unique annual event. Some even live there.
This festival is more than just a music festival for them. It may sound stupid but it's literally their life, their way of life, and for some maybe even the reason to keep living.
