I think the stunt trucks had a cummins and topped out at about 90, which is pretty damn impressive for 71, especially when you consider the cuckening of cars that came later in the 70s and 80s, the duel truck would've eaten people up easily, you had V8 engines having similar or less HP than a "crappy" 225 slant 6 plymouth.

Really though, my old Tacoma can at least get up to 65-70. Taking it on it's first 80mph road trip tomorrow. The semi from the film couldn't actually reach the speed limit on today's interstates. My Rio would smoke them both. Knowing how a lot of truckers are from too much time on the interstate he'd probably get run off the road by another trucker in a newer faster semi for going too slow and end up closing the entirety of 84 for the day as usual.
