ADVENTURE
>>28479393lol I miss the zx4 guy and the tranner this is just a bad forced meme
okay bros what if I want to go /out/ and adventure, but I dont want to ride adv bike, or a c90
im thinking a mid-size naked, so I'd have clearance for off-road if I want, without having to ride a dualsport
>>28479406T7 or the Honda 500 one?
>>28479406>dont want to ride adv bikehow about ride my fat throbbing knob
>>28479413ADV is what you get when you grow up.
>>28479411neither of those are naked
>>28479413adv bike gets adv attention, and I dont want that
i want to go to a town, drop my tent and put the bags inside it, and just go ride around like a normal person
>>28479421>like a normal personproblem is that you are TRANSGENDER
>>28479405>the trannerwhich one?
>>28479423who hurt you, hon? xoxo
>>28479405>the zx4 guywhich one?
Can anybody identify them all? (Without cheating).
>>28479435Jesus Christ, our lord and saviour.
I don't understand the love for naked bikes and the disdain for adventures, or really anything else
>check motorcycle day prices at nearby track
>$350 for one day
What the actual fuck, no wonder people just squid.
>>28479406What you are describing is a scrambler.
Are electric motorcycles developing at all? Anything street legal that can hold highway speeds yet?
>>28479446I just dont want such a high/tall bike, and have never owned a naked
>>28479457have looked at a couple but I'm just not a fan of the styling on most of them
>>28479459Battery tech was and is the limiting factor. Livewire and Zero make fast enough bikes but the range is dog ass.
>>28479460What do you think of the triumph scramblers?
>>28479460What naked style do you like?
You got a choice of bug, robot and retro
>>28479464hate them, met a guy with the "james bond" version and he was an absolute prick, left a sour taste
also not really a fan of the long flat cafe-racer style seats
>>28479465honestly I dont mind bug or robot
>>28479460>style say no more
every naked bike is that dumb bug look to me
It's fucking over. Two paint attempts, two different brands of paint, and it lays down with this textured finished. I prepped the surface really good too.
On the cbr250, I did the most half assed fucking surface prep and paint job and it came out flat.
Why the fuck is it laying down with a textured finish? I sanded with 240, then 400, then scotchbrite. Super smooth. Washed with alcohol.
The 250 had unpainted fairings, this was an OEM fairing with paint that I sanded down.
GS gang reporting in.
Looking at throwing some Heidenau K69 Ranger or Bridgestone AX41s on. Anyone have experience with either?
>>28479475250 for comparison
>>28479477I've had good luck with Bridgestone truck tires.
>>28479435>OzzyCross should've been upside down desu.
>>28479481Had them on my old Miata and they had hella grip.
Seems like this guy likes the AX41:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPByggx-Uz0&t=506s&pp=ygULYXg0MSByZXZpZXc%3D
This guy puts a durometer to them and they're soft (70D):https://youtu.be/-4fVIfQqwbU?si=Ahd2xAWO4zdd6jGO
I'm gonna try converting the wheels to tubeless with the Outex kit while I'm at it.
>>28479411T7, transalp, vstrom 650 an 800
>>28479406How many shekels? The 1200 Scrambler is a legitimate ADV that doesn't look like one. They're under 10 grand used.
>>28479446I miss half fairings. They were so based yet now its full fairings or naked.
>>28479463That poor engine.
>>28479475If it feels like after curing you have sprayed way to far away.
>>28479467Get an old GS500 or ER5 and slap some knobby tyres on it and change the front head lamp to LED.
>>28479467The flat seat is awesome. You can encroach on the pillion space to stretch out your legs.
>>28479446I have one of each and like em both
>>28479502Nothing wrong with the engine. I think I just overfilled that bitch when I put coolant in last time. It was also really hot yesterday.
Just bled my brakes. Bike feels brand new now.
>>28479502I sprayed the normal distance I always use. It was going to be have runs and be splotchy if I sprayed any closer.
>>28479502Half fairings were peak
What is the OSRS of bikes?
>>28479520Nowadays a half faired bike is either an ADV or an upright sport tourer.
Can anyone redpill me on the Svartpilen 401? Looking for a 'do-it-all' bike. A little dirt roads, a little highway, a little fuck around on. I live in the communist dystopia of Ontario, so insurance is expensive as fuck and I can basically only ever have one bike due solely to insurance costs.
>>28479511I though you fucked up the crank case or something.
>>28479517How humid was it and what was the atmosphere temp when you let it dry. If its only 60% that shit is fugged.
>>28479528shartpillen 404
theyre being guerrilla marketed and spammed everywhere right now, because theyre not selling due to horrible build quality and not actually being good at anything
>>28479527Yeah which is bullshit and sport tourers should stay full faired while naked sports should return to half faired.
>>28479528Friend had it. They are ok just the engine is shit for lots of highway riding.
>>28479525Air cooled Harley cruisers.
>>28479528Shartpoopen 401 will be tolerable as long as you don't need to go faster than "passing semis" and can handle buzzy bars... or until something breaks.
>Indian owned company
what non-bug nakeds are there out there?
It is now 1 month and 24 days since the shop took in my bike. Surely it doesn't take 3 weeks for a part order to come in and have a lowspeed lowside repair on a rebel.
>>28479544SV650. Not retro, just never updated.
>>28479544Any standard, classic or neoclassic with round headlights.
>>28479546It took a few weeks for me the last time I needed a Honda part from the dealer.
>>28479546depends what the part is
sometimes they only batch-produce parts, and you have to wait for that
took me 3 months to get a part for my old himmy - part of the reason I got rid of it
>>28479459The stark varg is probably the best one but it doesn't have range
>oil change went perfectly
>new camera setup working great
>oil change and chain cleaning went perfectly
>shifting feels incredible
>accidentally learned how to do baby wheelies in first gear
>long weekend of riding Malibu, ACH, another DRZ demo, and whatever else I can manage

Thatโs right, the man who some believe canโt be killed crashed his 1996 Yamaha Banshee, leaving him with cracked vertebrae, broken collarbone, and eight broken ribs. He made a full recovery, and the Banshee went untouched for almost 20 years until it was sold at auction for $12,893 earlier this month through Cars & Classics.
https://www.atvrider.com/news/ozzy-osbourne-yamaha-banshee-auctioned/
Thats some fucking bullshit.
Ive been wanting a replacement Banshee and $10k is about average for a nice one and someone out there has FUCKING OZZY'S BANSHEE for $13k.
Life isnt fair....
>>28479576Looks like a scooter to motorcycle tranny
>>28479600I'm starting to like skulls and flames. Nobody ever has them anymore.
>>28479576It's very mid-noughties styling, which can look great or terrible on any given day.
There's a shop with one for sale near me, early production so she's fully chromed out with pearl white paint. I've thought about buying it, but considering how long it's been on his lot I imagine it's a money pit.

>>28479608>but considering how long it's been on his lot I imagine it's a money pit. From what I've read, they have issues with second gear exploding. Also, because of the way the transmission is designed, you have to remove and blow apart the engine to repair it.
>>28479528The RE guerrilla is better do it all and if you need more top speed just change the front sprocket.
>>28479475Humidity is your biggest adversary when painting.
Did you use fish eye reducer?
What was the temperature the day you painted?
There's a reason all the good painters are tweakers.
There's 50 different factors that are trying to fuck you over when painting and you have to be on the (8)ball and know every variable to compensate and lay down a smooth coat.
Im not a painter.
Ive just assisted and have seen what it takes to get an impeccable finish.
>John Force's candy apple green semi transparent paint jobs takes on average 14 coats to get that "depth" look, just to be blown apart by a catastrophic engine failure 0.48 seconds into a run....
>>28479576That looks awful
I like da wheels. only $5500
>>28479606lmao same. Contrarians rise up
WE'RE BRINGING EM BACK
Why does Kawasaki insist on making their bikes as fuck ugly as possible?
been watching some dashcam/helmet cam type content on youtube
and I swear 2 god, some people just go out on their bike looking for an excuse to swear at someone, or to try and smash their mirrors
>car pulls out on someone with more than enough time to react
>starts screaming about how they almost killed them
just fucking calm down and ride on
i really dont get it
>>28479637for 5.5k i call it a good deal and the chrome still looks mint
>>28479675>an excuse to swear at someone, or to try and smash their mirrors>i really dont get itWe're caveman living in le society. If you've got High T you want to commit violence sometimes.
>>28479610Ah man, apparently theyโre doing videos at Palomar now. Not once but TWICE I missed being on the camera by one weekend!!!!! Bummer, Iโve always wondered how my riding looks in motion
Put new shift kit in, feels like a night and day improvement.
>>28479675>i really dont get itIt's estimated that 1 in 5 Americans has a mental illness. People act like cherry picked videos online are representative of average normal people, when they fucking aren't. The simple fact is there are crazy retards all around you and many of them have a drivers license.
>>28479692What's that do?
>>28479693Fun fact: 3 out of 5 non-americans have mental illness
Whats the appeal of the naked bikes like Hornets, GSX S1000s, MT-10s, or Dukes they just look so ugly.
>>28479693I can tell you that working a minimum wage retail job is scary because you realize that's true, but
It's still better than 4/5 3rd worlders being no better than dogs who'd kill and or rape anyone if they knew they could get away with it.
>>28479699Mostly the different ergos
And WAYYYY cheaper insurance
They're city bikes imo.
>>28479695The difference in the levers is a high grade bearing vs literally two metal surfaces drowned in oil and friction. These stars are also slightly different in shape, now throw a fresh (and included) spring and you essentially remove all slack in your shift lever, seamlessly clutchless shift, and immediate return to its position
Just wondering how much hp a big bore of f450 gs would make. A 650 would make 70hp and 750 would make 80hp. That's approximately the same a vstroms. So, not weak. But it's not a BMW. A2 curse for you.
>>28479702Bottom star scares me
What if it wears out and I pussyfoot it and hit a false neutral between 2 gears
>>28479701I'd hope it was ergos or insurance, I'd have to question anyone who looks at these and thinks "yeah this looks cool"
>>28479709They're cheaper in general. Usually the engine from one of the brand's sportbikes, thrown into a steel frame as opposed to an aluminum one.
No big plastic fairings, cheaper gauges, etc.
You can call them ugly, but honestly if you just throw a different headlight on them they can pass just fine.
It just sucks they all have stubby short tails so they're impractical.
>>28479708The original star is 24 years old, and given the new star is better grade material with careful RnD considered. All the change in shape does is make the friction between the bearing at the end of the internal shift lever that much smoother and not lurch as much due to the bearing surface not needing to roll across a fuckin triangle point but rather a round hill lol.
>I don't think it is a debuff as you think it is reliability wise
>>28479719How does it feel on the toe? While you're shifting I mean
>>28479699The manufacturers seem to be fucking up the styling borderline on purpose. The FZ1 was one of the greatest liters of all time. Not the fastest, not the best brakes or suspension, but holy shit, half faired all day comfortable R1-lite. The MT-10 has edged much closer to the R1's performance but is worse to ride than the FZ.
>>28479717>>28479709Also they almost expect you to put some kind of windshield on them.
>>28479721Right off the bat I noticed literally no slack in the lever, gone was what felt like a worn down transmission and in its place a like-new feel.
While moving from 1st to 2nd it just feels like polished glass. From 2nd to 3rd it gave a meaty clunk affirming a completed gear shift. Then onwards about the same but I was surprised my 6th gear was far easier to slide into than before where I had to kinda fight it by loading it with pressure. It's some good stuff, downshifting feels quicker but that could be a byproduct of me actually feeling feedback from my gearbox
>>28479531>>28479621It's gotta be the humidity. Only thing that's different from the last time I painted.
>>28479671Thats a bad example.
Body lines are impeccable but the colors are all over the place.
Go with a monotone and thats pure sex.
>>28479717>Usually the engine from one of the brand's sportbikesWhat fucking decade is it
>>28479731The FZ1 and FZ6 fairings were ugly as fuck
>>28479699the power is more usable irl.
>>28479741>just ignore that 90% of the bikes they sell have fuck ugly graphics and colour combos>only monotone options for the 500 are NPC black and NPC white
>>28479746>The FZ1 and FZ6 fairings were ugly as fuckHow did they go from pic to that?
>>28479741>Body lines are impeccable
>>28479746> FZ6 fairings were ugly as fuckI beg to differ
>>28479754The FZ name switched categories. R became the racebike.
>>28479406Get a shartpilen 401
>>28479753Ya its a conundrum.
Its like the engineers are on point and then it makes its way through the chain to the blue haired Karen's in advertising and it turns to shit.
BTW
I think theres a tornado here so I might die before my next post.
>>28479753The white Ninja 400 looked cool as fuck though.
>>28479520They still have the tuono 660. I consider this half-faired
>>28479528They're incredible
>>28479758There is literally nothing good looking about that bike except maybe the exhaust, goddamn
>>28479759No not particularly, the FZ750 got standard full fairings but by then the FZR750R existed and was quasi-replaced by the YZF750 than the YZF-R7 (the good one). FZ600 was directly replaced by the FZR600 then YZF600 then YZF-R6, but basically the FZ name just died out and was reused on partially similar bikes later.
Today I figured out how to "stand" (crouch) on a sportbike with my ass out of the seat to take speedbumps faster. My record is about 35mph.
>>28479773Early 2000โs big beady halogen angry eyes are beautiful, cry about it baby boy
>>28479781Full fairing SV my beloved
>>28479773Whatsa matter fairing boy? Afraid you might have to see your engine?
>>28479787I literally started by posting how much better the FZ1 looks naked instead of with a dorky goose looking ass fairing. You did find a picture it would look okay except for the muffler being 2 feet long this time though so I will give you credit for that.
I like the superhawk/firestorm, it'd be perfect if it had gear driven cams like the RC51
>>28479797The VFR dropping gear driven cams for 6th gen was a tragedy.
>>28479791Oh I see, still disagree, the sports-esque look is cute and give the bike infinitely more character than your standard mono headlight naked styling
>>28479799Mono headlight nakeds and cruisers work when they're deliberately retro. The new ones are just so ugly.
>>28479798Imagine Vtec and gears ontop of that fucking V4 man. So close, yet so far.
>>28479791It doesn't, especially not with the factory Yamaha retarded arrow shaped headlight. The bike somehow manages to look ass-heavy.
>>28479753Kawasaki is really bad about the schizo graphics. They used to make some clean body work.
Suzuki is bad about schizo color schemes but Kawasaki has it worse when the graphics.
>>28479806I love my 6th gen but am dreading the cam chain service.
>>28479813It'll suck but once complete itll be good for a while. I've heard whispers of a dude who threw a 5th gen engine in a 6th gen and it worked with minimum accommodations.
It took years, but bikini fairings have grown on me.
>>28479812RETVRN to mono-color/bicolor at most
I didn't die.
But ill check hail damage tomorrow.
I have no power and im firing up the generator to keep $2k in chics alive.
>>28479846Yes.

>>28479847let them sleep in bed with you

i love the bike to death, but apprently the Fs were much more popular than the G650 because finding parts for this thing is and absolute bastard. if i ever need to replace any plastics - forget about it. theres a missing plastic plug to cover a screw, about the size of a quarter. dealer wants 100 bucks for it lmao.

>not helping the stereotypes.its true lol. but ive taken the bark busters off, cut some MX grips to fit onto my bars, and never wear full gear, so im trying to set a new standard for adv riders
>>28480296Mid to late 20s. It's NC though so most of the people become adv or Harley guys at some point. I'm the newest to riding. It's been mostly coworkers, theres like 3 sportbike guys and they rarely ever ride but they all have liter bikes.
>>28480290It might be the shitty roads in part but I went more for buying longer and better suspension parts... Not that they are on the bike yet, the shops still has my rebel300
>>28480262Kinda sad that people do that. Sacrificing their individuation just to feel some surface level acceptance with other riders. Nobody waves at me now that I'm on a GS but idc anyway.
>>28480265I noticed Bret Tkacs running an odd tire combo on his DesertX but after hearing out his tire analysis it made a lot of sense. When you're ready you might be able to snag these in sizes for the F650 for less than $300 for the set.

Even just heading straight home I sometimes park only to find at some point in the ride the travel marker o-ring was bumped to just 2" above the axle.
I've owned a couple of other bikes but none have been as good as the last two "adv" bikes I've purchased. It's even better when part of the commute home can also feature a quick trip for groceries.

>>28480395It's ok bro, I'm almost 30 and still a virgin, not even dated. I'll accept being different for comfort though.
6000km/3800 mile trip starting on Monday, abasolutely zero planning or preparation done, I got like 6 hours to prepare for it on monday and that's it. Gonna take some tools and a "dog shit" tire puncture kit, that's about it for me.

Oh right, it's on a 40 year old bike that had done about 100k miles or so before the odometer stopped.

This obsession with 450 twins all being entry level is stupid. Not everyone buying one is a brand new rider who will buy whichever model is $200 cheaper off the floor.
>>28480441screenshot of this or gay
>>28480449>This obsession with 450 twins all being entry level is stupid. Not everyone buying one is a brand new riderYou're wrong though. I'm certain business analytics steered manufacturers in that direction. You're probably downplaying the effects of A2 regulations on the market. These sub-500 bikes are exclusively made to fit in that A2/beginner market, that's why they're all so heavy. And A/experienced riders buy higher displacement machines.
I understand how you feel though, I'd definitely like a top tier 450 bike but I never buy new and so my expectations are irrelevant to manufacturers.
>>28480449I wanted the nx for road and looks more than off-road. As a tourer the closest is the cbr500r but the older one. Ergo on the old cbr was better for commuting and touring but the new wignlet ones aren't, and cb500x when turned to the nx made it better for commuting and touring than off-road so, whatever.
>bike sold
What now? Market is absolutely insane, even I sold my bike for quite a bit more than what it's worth. Bikes stay listed for months.
>>28480459This is what I argued last thread with the fact sport bikes also lack premium low displacement bikes asside from the the zx4RR in the US for example. Like these definitely have a market. Idk I'd buy a cbr250rr or some kinda remade sub 300cc premium super offroad focused ptwin with the same engine. I don't really want to move to anything over 500cc.
>>28480466Well did the ZX4RR sell well at all? In the end manufacturers are in the business of making money and if they don't sell a particular product it's because demand is just not there.
>>28480462Popularity anon. If you have a bike thatโs popular you will sell it fast. If you have a bike thatโs not popular it will stay for months.
>>28480459>that's why they're all so heavyA2 says a 170kg bike can still run 35kw, which is the same power as the 452cc but well under the nx500 chassis in weight. I assume they went a good 30kg heavier for highway stability.
I know everybody wants an African Twin, but I don't need 200lbs in luggage and a passenger. I don't even need the Transalp's power if I'm being honest. The dirt isn't taking all that torque, and cruising at 100mph is probably not very smart.
>>28480471Yeah I sold an SV 650 and it took about a mont, whereas MT07s sell for at least 30% more and they sell fast. But I'm not buying a 10yo Ptwin naked with 30k miles for 5-6k eurodollars yet people seem fine with that.
>>28480475170kg (dry/wet?) is quite heavy considering an MT07 is 184kg wet.
>>28480476You ask a normie what an SV650 is and they will probably tell you to get away from them because it sounds like you want to rape them. You ask them about an mt07 they will say โOH IVE SEEN THAT BIKE FROM THAT GARDEN SNAKE YOUTUBE GUY!!โ
>>28480478I have a big bore single that's 160kg. It's heavy for a dirt bike, but it's not enough mass for the highway, not with an upright riding position and a high center of gravity. I feel like a fucking sail boat in a 60km cross wind.

>>28480609>waterproof innerr bagThose have never worked in my experience. It just leaves you with a wet bag.
You know what works and is basically indestructible? Picrel and the backpack you already own.
>>28480562raw as in how?
I looked up the most common mods and # 1 would be the smog pump has gotta go.
>>28480577Oh nice, I didn't know that about the front suspension.
>>28480589Hondr is nice
My choices are a pretty battle worn XR650L and a relatively battle worn DR650 that I think would take less cleanup, the difference between them is $600 minus the parts I'll have to buy to make them palatable. (lower seat, new gaskets, I'm probably gonna need new hoses, the XR650L burns oil while operating creating a fine white smog after a few minutes that I'm 50/50 is a head gasket or the oil return o-ring leaking onto the fins of the engine)
>>28480622also the guy I'm buying it from didn't know the XR650 is dry sump and didn't know what that is which means he's just been draining the oil from the bottom of the engine, never the reservoir pan in the frame, and has never checked the screen (though I doubt this did anything I've never seen a dry sump screen full of metal or particles as long as it's had oil and filter changes.)
>>28480611I think most people overestimate how far and fast they will ride dirt and vastly underestimate how quick and comfortable they would prefer to be on the highway ride back.
>>28480517I always wave to people when Iโm on my scooter, where else would I do it?

>>28480619Just make sure you buy the wet laundry one, as it's the rubberized cloth.
>>28480470The 250 version they made 2 year prior to the ZX4RR would have sold better.
A cheaper price would be the biggest selling point and insurance companies would be like "oh it's only a 250 your responsible" which also would help.
It's only real like competition would have been the CBR650R and that is cheaper and has more power, now they also have the Cfmoto Voom in some markets which is cheaper and has more power, plus 80's styling captures nostalgia factor.

>>28480611I did the opposite. Got an adv thinking I'd more appreciate the roadability than I would the dirtability, but realized I'd rather go from a dirt bike and make it a little more roadable than try to go the other way around. I much prefer having a superior dirt bike that's ok on highways now
>>28480663>Where do I find them?France and Italy.
I swear, both those countries have their own domestic bikes (Yamaha, guzzi, ducati, aprillia) but at least visiting Italy all I saw were r1100gs, R1150gs, r1200gs, r1250gs, and I'm sure the new r1300gs is also quite popular there now.
