It's fucking over. Two paint attempts, two different brands of paint, and it lays down with this textured finished. I prepped the surface really good too.
On the cbr250, I did the most half assed fucking surface prep and paint job and it came out flat.
Why the fuck is it laying down with a textured finish? I sanded with 240, then 400, then scotchbrite. Super smooth. Washed with alcohol.
The 250 had unpainted fairings, this was an OEM fairing with paint that I sanded down.

>Did you know that Ozzy Osbourne almost died in 2003 in a quad crash? Thatโ€™s right, the man who some believe canโ€™t be killed crashed his 1996 Yamaha Banshee, leaving him with cracked vertebrae, broken collarbone, and eight broken ribs. He made a full recovery, and the Banshee went untouched for almost 20 years until it was sold at auction for $12,893 earlier this month through Cars & Classics.

From what I've read, they have issues with second gear exploding. Also, because of the way the transmission is designed, you have to remove and blow apart the engine to repair it.

Humidity is your biggest adversary when painting.
Did you use fish eye reducer?
What was the temperature the day you painted?
There's a reason all the good painters are tweakers.
There's 50 different factors that are trying to fuck you over when painting and you have to be on the (8)ball and know every variable to compensate and lay down a smooth coat.

Im not a painter.
Ive just assisted and have seen what it takes to get an impeccable finish.
>John Force's candy apple green semi transparent paint jobs takes on average 14 coats to get that "depth" look, just to be blown apart by a catastrophic engine failure 0.48 seconds into a run....

The difference in the levers is a high grade bearing vs literally two metal surfaces drowned in oil and friction. These stars are also slightly different in shape, now throw a fresh (and included) spring and you essentially remove all slack in your shift lever, seamlessly clutchless shift, and immediate return to its position

They're cheaper in general. Usually the engine from one of the brand's sportbikes, thrown into a steel frame as opposed to an aluminum one.
No big plastic fairings, cheaper gauges, etc.
You can call them ugly, but honestly if you just throw a different headlight on them they can pass just fine.

It just sucks they all have stubby short tails so they're impractical.

The original star is 24 years old, and given the new star is better grade material with careful RnD considered. All the change in shape does is make the friction between the bearing at the end of the internal shift lever that much smoother and not lurch as much due to the bearing surface not needing to roll across a fuckin triangle point but rather a round hill lol.

Right off the bat I noticed literally no slack in the lever, gone was what felt like a worn down transmission and in its place a like-new feel.

While moving from 1st to 2nd it just feels like polished glass. From 2nd to 3rd it gave a meaty clunk affirming a completed gear shift. Then onwards about the same but I was surprised my 6th gear was far easier to slide into than before where I had to kinda fight it by loading it with pressure. It's some good stuff, downshifting feels quicker but that could be a byproduct of me actually feeling feedback from my gearbox

No not particularly, the FZ750 got standard full fairings but by then the FZR750R existed and was quasi-replaced by the YZF750 than the YZF-R7 (the good one). FZ600 was directly replaced by the FZR600 then YZF600 then YZF-R6, but basically the FZ name just died out and was reused on partially similar bikes later.

See him yesterday and heโ€™s traded it in for some shitty Harley with corroded pipes, mismatched tank, cheesy ape hangers, etc etc. heโ€™s also ditched the cool hrc jacket and is wearing the smallest black yamukkah of a Harley helmet

i love the bike to death, but apprently the Fs were much more popular than the G650 because finding parts for this thing is and absolute bastard. if i ever need to replace any plastics - forget about it. theres a missing plastic plug to cover a screw, about the size of a quarter. dealer wants 100 bucks for it lmao.

Even just heading straight home I sometimes park only to find at some point in the ride the travel marker o-ring was bumped to just 2" above the axle.
I've owned a couple of other bikes but none have been as good as the last two "adv" bikes I've purchased. It's even better when part of the commute home can also feature a quick trip for groceries.

6000km/3800 mile trip starting on Monday, abasolutely zero planning or preparation done, I got like 6 hours to prepare for it on monday and that's it. Gonna take some tools and a "dog shit" tire puncture kit, that's about it for me.
What do you recommend except sending it?
Oh right, it's on a 40 year old bike that had done about 100k miles or so before the odometer stopped.

Honda did so much right with the bike, but my God, how are you going to slap an nx model on a 425lbs bike and not give it at least non-adjustable 7" travel suspension?

This obsession with 450 twins all being entry level is stupid. Not everyone buying one is a brand new rider who will buy whichever model is $200 cheaper off the floor.

You're wrong though. I'm certain business analytics steered manufacturers in that direction. You're probably downplaying the effects of A2 regulations on the market. These sub-500 bikes are exclusively made to fit in that A2/beginner market, that's why they're all so heavy. And A/experienced riders buy higher displacement machines.

I understand how you feel though, I'd definitely like a top tier 450 bike but I never buy new and so my expectations are irrelevant to manufacturers.

I wanted the nx for road and looks more than off-road. As a tourer the closest is the cbr500r but the older one. Ergo on the old cbr was better for commuting and touring but the new wignlet ones aren't, and cb500x when turned to the nx made it better for commuting and touring than off-road so, whatever.

Idk I'd buy a cbr250rr or some kinda remade sub 300cc premium super offroad focused ptwin with the same engine. I don't really want to move to anything over 500cc.

A2 says a 170kg bike can still run 35kw, which is the same power as the 452cc but well under the nx500 chassis in weight. I assume they went a good 30kg heavier for highway stability.

I know everybody wants an African Twin, but I don't need 200lbs in luggage and a passenger. I don't even need the Transalp's power if I'm being honest. The dirt isn't taking all that torque, and cruising at 100mph is probably not very smart.

The x650l can actually adjust preload on the front suspension, and you get an 18" rear tire instead of 17".

My choices are a pretty battle worn XR650L and a relatively battle worn DR650 that I think would take less cleanup, the difference between them is $600 minus the parts I'll have to buy to make them palatable. (lower seat, new gaskets, I'm probably gonna need new hoses, the XR650L burns oil while operating creating a fine white smog after a few minutes that I'm 50/50 is a head gasket or the oil return o-ring leaking onto the fins of the engine)

The 250 version they made 2 year prior to the ZX4RR would have sold better.

A cheaper price would be the biggest selling point and insurance companies would be like "oh it's only a 250 your responsible" which also would help.

It's only real like competition would have been the CBR650R and that is cheaper and has more power, now they also have the Cfmoto Voom in some markets which is cheaper and has more power, plus 80's styling captures nostalgia factor.

>Where do I find them?
France and Italy.
I swear, both those countries have their own domestic bikes (Yamaha, guzzi, ducati, aprillia) but at least visiting Italy all I saw were r1100gs, R1150gs, r1200gs, r1250gs, and I'm sure the new r1300gs is also quite popular there now.

Yeah I'm in France. BMW and Yamaha ADV/sport tourers arr very popular with drug dealers, petty criminals, rappers, etc... Even Goldwings are starting to be popular with that crowd. To me they're not worth owning because you get insane insurance rates and they get stolen all the time.

I'm not particularly aggro or high strung and sometimes someone will pull out quite far off and I'll get furious for a moment before realizing how pathetic that is. I think riding inherently gets the blood pumping and the adrenaline rushing and if you don't watch it you'll turn into a half-retard dog-person
