NOT REAL QUATTRO.

>b-b-but it ca-

NO! It’s FWD 98% of the time. Do not buy it unless you like FWD and horrible weight distortion and replacing rear differentials. It’s not real Quattro. It’s shit. It’s embarrassing for the brand. They should put the engine in the S5 and in an entry level R8 yes. But we’re not going to sit here on my board and let anyone think this platform is real Quattro
Anonymous No.28488348 [Report] >>28489084
>>28488218
It is aluminum in the Audi versions desu.
But you are correct. It should be on MLB/PPC and it would be considered one of the best cars audi has ever made. But it’s not and it sucks.

>torque vectoring Haldex meme
The S5 from 2010 has real Quattro with a torque vectoring rear differentials that actually gets real torque. Like actually can and does receive 60-85% of the power when you drive. The RS3 is vectoring like 1-5% of the torque 99% of the time. Sorry. It’s reality.

The V8 had the same length as the old 5 cylinder. But it’s got 8 cylinders. The V6 is even shorter and atleast part of it is behind the front axle since around 2010ish.
The MQB cars have the entire engine forward of the axle bc it’s a VW chassis and VW customers want cabin space and think GTis handle well anyways.
It’s also has McDonald’s if iirc because of course there is no room for double Bs.
The super charged V6 S5 is a great option and vastly better in terms of performance build and materials and power.
With the A4 range and up you have the more robust DL501, a crown center diff, a torque vectoring differential in the rear, better weight distribution, double bones, more power, better cooling, better NVH, better interior longevity, it’s actually going to handle like an Audi does. No brainer. They’re also pretty reliable.

It’s Haldex but a split prop shaft fuck off. You need to read my words and accept them. It’s fwd. the S5 had a real Quattro system with a real torque vectoring diff. The RS3 one only vectors up to 50% of the torque IN THEORY. In practice it’s only getting .9-10% of the torque in 98% of applications because it is not strong enough to deal with 50% of the power.
Even at wide open throttle it’s going to be mostly 60-40 front bias and that’s just to get you going before it backs off.

There is ZERO point in YoOL 2025 in buying a non GT3 Porsche product. The RS3, even with its flaws, murders most of their slop that’s out on the roads. They all think their open diff low power Porsches are the same as the GTS or GT3 and don’t realize Porsche doesn’t even include sport throttle maps or suspension settings unless you spend $15k in options. Yes even the older S3s with a tune are faster than most Porsches.

Anonymous No.28488954 [Report]

Yeah the new ceo is an engineer and realized how much damage this did to the brand. But they’re still just now phasing them in so fakes are still being sold new on most models.
Also fun fact they did a survey and found customers (ie women leasing Q5s were the biggest responders) were annoyed bc the exhaust smoke showed up in rear view cameras which is actually the initial reason they went with fake tips, the exhaust stream gets broken up and doesn’t show up when they back out of the driveway. Sad state of affairs really but it’s what we get for letting women make the majority of purchase decisions in our culture.

MLB dates to 2007 and they won't make a wholly new platform. My car is a fucking Kia and the platform dates to 2020. That's why I got it. Newest platform = best car.

Frankly, this isn’t the argument for the 911 you think it is. That RS3 will be tuned to 500+hp by the owner as soon as it’s out of warranty if not on day one. It competes with the Gayman. The 911 S in those times is likely fully optioned with all the GTS parts when reality is most of these C2Ss don’t have any go fast options.

More importantly, someone itt actually has an RS3 and you don’t have the 911 that is running those times. It’s sad mate. And personally I’d take the 5cyl over the flat 6.

Listen anon, a turbocharged 5 cylinder may be one of the greatest sounds ever created by the hand of man, but for the kind of money audi is asking these days I could also drive a corvette instead, and that seriously calls the value proposition into question.
The best daily driver is a car you can own and operate. The best daily driver is a car that doesn't make you feel bad for driving it.
BMW 2-series, cooper s, miata, ecoboost stang, integra type s, civic hybrid, these are all great value propositions. If you could find a used exige or a110 fall off the back of a truck, go for it.

>In my euro shithole a new RS3 starts at 53k whereas a C8 starts at 100k.
across the pond the split is more like 60-70, so that's understandable
>M2 starts at 64k.
It's about 20k less for the base model which I think is good in its own way; or rather if a car is over 40k it asks the question of what value is it bringing to the table when the 230i is already there existing at that same price.
The Civic type R is a genuinely good track weapon with the best cornering you'll find in anything below fifty gees but the ride is stiff as hell (why I put the Integra over it; same performance, better appointment), and, just to make a note of it, but the fuel efficiency on the 230i is a lot better too. A lot of cars can give economy and a lot of cars can give speed but not a lot of cars can give you something of both. I just appreciate good engineering like that. (The stang is faster and slightly less efficient; the cooper s is more efficient and slightly slower; the miata is slightly faster than the cooper and slightly more efficient than the stang, while the 230i is both slightly faster and slightly more efficient than the miata; the civic hybrid isn't defined as a 'sports car' but in objective terms it still has a sub 15 second drag time and the handling and suspension you would expect from honda, so it's definitely not the sort of econobox that makes you hate life to drive.)

I've had an A3, S4, BMW 325xi and 328i.
I'm over Audi & BMW. They're nice cars until they're not, and then they're in the shop once a month perpetually and never perform the same again.
I won't buy another one and will stick to Corvettes and Japanese daily.

Apparently audi pre-sense or whatever it’s called still ruins your day in the latest RS3. If it detects an emergency situation it will turn all nannies back on, rendering it useless for track use or drifting.

Shameful. It must be part of the MQB electronic set up that can’t be coded out. Corvette has a fully customizable nanny menu with 0-10 settings for everything.
I have tracked the S3 a lot and it’s can be tedious with Nannies freaking out over the fwd power understeer. I had presumed Audi sport fixed it with the RS3. I think though with the way the Haldex works and is integrated with the traction and stability and xds and abs it may not ever be allowed off.

You can turn stuff down with OBDEleven

Listen, some people might not see the potential, but the mirage is a lot like the honda insight: ultra light, aerodynamic, and BEGGING for 350 horsepower from a boosted boi cylinderpressuremaxxing 3/4 banger.

The old A3 is strangely ageless. Doesn't stand out nearly as much as some 20+ year old cars.
Hell, if it has the 1.9 TDI, it'll probably work for another 20 years with just oil changes. Well, that and maybe the occasional fuse pull because germtronics.

It's the lights that can look pretty old on those, especially after the plastic starts fading and yellowing.
