GT5 has already aged better than GT7, at least the single player career. Once GT8 (or GT Sport 2) launches, GT7 dies forever.

Yeah I don't think racing slicks can take those kinds of loads. Even F1 tires have friction limits.
Of course, I bet that 911 is impossibly light and has way more downforce than we know of.

Second /vgt/ thread in a row died again in early April, after less than 260 posts. I guess it's never coming back now, so I'm dumping my blog here.

Fuck, I wish the Sardegna grind wasn't so dull. Started using a Nissan set-up (GTPlanet 419864) to try to cut down the race time. Naturally, it was out of date so it had to be adjusted to get under 800. Nice to be down in the 1:31s, but using softs gets rough by the end of lap 7, so I stick to mediums. Also can't use the fuel map to the stated potential; so I use FM4-6, saving fuel to use for one lap at FM1 with little/no traffic, then down to FM3 for the last few laps.

I get better race times, near to my Mazda time, but still can't break the 24 minute barrier. Also applied the set-up to my Jaguar XJR-9 and Porsche 962C. Both the Nissan and Jag are now past their 7Ks engine repair. I'll be running the Porsche until the repair, then I'll switch to the Sauber-Mercedes. I'll now try to use all my Group C's to a similar mileage.

Also fucking sucks that my faggot router failed on the morning of the LeMans24. I'd been watching and posting in all the pre-Saturday session threads. Also lost days of my GT7 daily workout.

>I did pop back to GT4 to start a new save.
It was nice to buy my beloved Lotus Elise again, but was disappointed at how little it was actually required outside of a few events.

Selling the prize car from Capri Rally (Easy), Stars And Stripes and the German touring car event is crucial to getting some good credits and basically speed-running the game with Bob.

Other crucial early cars are the Mercedes SL65 (modded past 800BHP) for Euro races, and the Ford GT (modded past 650BHP) for burgerland races. Winning the Legends of the Silver Arrow Mercedes event gets you the touring car to farm the DTM event for about 900K per 15 minutes.

Buy one of the cheap Le Mans cars (although I bought the Mazda 787B) and walkover all the eligible events that run lesser cars. Getting the Minolta Toyota from winning the El Capitan 200 Miles is crucial to beat pretty much the rest of the game. Getting the turbo puts it above 1100BHP. I remember it being a monster around the Nordschleife back in the day (weird, as the IRL car was a failure).

Also managed Bob to win the Fuji endurance race with the Mazda by just 20 seconds from the Nissan. He got an easier victory with the Minolta Toyota. The Jaguar XJR-9 is similarly powerful when upgraded, but is only awarded at 50% completion.

Then I had Bob win a bunch of the extreme events in the Minolta Toyota, and all the endurance races, aside from the 24H races - Never again! Though it sucks that I can't win or buy the based Bentley Speed 8, or the Audi, or the Formula GT.

It's also a shame that Bob hits a wall in his skill level and never gets better stats. There's also a couple of races that he just can't win.

I also used the photo mode on there for the first time in many years. Also got annoyed at how difficult it was to get the Bentley to show up in a race, so I could photograph it. I wish that had the options that GT7's photo mode has. I just love the cinematic 12:5 ratio so much in GT7 and so I miss it in GT4.

As for other GT7 ramblings, I have almost completed my purchasing of all the 10M+ cars. Now gone way past 400M cr. in total earnings. Not bad for starting in early December. Then it's just a question of buying whatever Hagerty cars that I have not bought yet (and I have let a few go, while waiting for the expensive ones; though not the DB3S), while letting credits accrue for a while, then going on a spree at Brand Central.

I have also fitted all the largely meh parts that I have won from roulettes to the cars that I DO have, and am disappointed at the amount of duplicate parts there were, AND that we cannot sell parts and engines (some of them being worth over 1M cr.!). At least with winning a dupe car, that's okay as at least we can turn those into credits for something we want. I won a second Valkyrie but haven't had the heart to sell it.

In June, I dropped from three to two Sardegnas per day (from my Dec-Jan cap of six, that got me past 90M cr.!). The Weekly Challenge races don't usually breach that race distance cap, as I autistically love keeping my daily workout graph totally consistent. I also found that using the Ferrari Circuit Challenge, to make nice money for shorter races that make up the miles, pretty useful. Then if I only have a short distance left to my daily cap, I use a custom race at Special Stage Route X to take it to the precise distance. I am insane.

Given the bullshit capacity limit on replays, I am using Scapes more for photos, but I hate how limited it is compared to Walk Mode in race replays. Also don't like how limiting/distant most of the Scapes set-ups are, and the restriction on zooming (and lighting). I get a tiny amount of likes and occasional reposts. I finally got my first follower! I do save the replays for the Weekly Challenge races, and post a photo for each race.

For the run up to the Le Mans 24 Hours, I kitted out my Valkyrie with the WEC livery and took some photos in Scapes and in a twlight run around La Sarthe. I was going to post them on the weekend of the race, but my fucking router died. FML.

Though no-one cares, this is the only place I can post this multi-part blog entry. I've edited this text file a few times as time passed, waiting for a new thread to post it in. It is a shame that /vgt/ dies and no-one cares about GT7 in these threads.

whiplash's netplay still works great using dosbox's ipx-ip emulation and the latest versions of dosbox-staging run it at much higher framerates, which is important for network play stability, so it may actually be possible now to get 16 players in a race, if we can gather that many.

It's pretty much the opposite problem of Forza
Cars in Forza aren't fun to drive because they're all understeery boats thanks to the terrible tire model, but it's more excusable with slower road cars
GT7 has tires that are too good and make road cars feel good, but race cars all feel overly sharp, responsive, and pushable

Its not as bad on emulation, which should be the way everyone replays the game now. It even has universal wheel support on RPCS3 from a recent update. I just hope they fix the upscaling bug that prevents us from playing on 4k without glitches...

The menus are awesome in GT5, they're sophisticated and nice looking. Some retards can't seem to grasp more dynamically placed menu items and not necessarily have anything lined up in a column. However the real issue is that the PS3's slow ass HDD made going through each screen really fucking slow, even down to scrolling through cars. This can be somewhat alleviated by installing a SSD to your PS3.

GT Sport has the best GT menus: functional, elegant, varied, classy. GT5 is the second best. Yes, it can be a bit slow at times on original hardware, but it certainly has SOVL. Japanese jazz fusion fits that game well. GT6 was an upgrade in usability and practicality, but it was completely soulless compared to every other GT.

This is what peak performance looks like:
No gay fucking intro, goes straight into the main menu.
Simple 2d background, no need to load any 3d shit. No music.
Pressing "find servers" will show a server browser that remembers what tab you were on last time.
It's possible in 10 seconds to go from clicking "Play" on steam to load into a favourite server running de_dust2.

On the other hand we have shit like Dirt 3 where going a few menus back is a fucking chore with the retarded animation.

Simple, fast, efficient.

I don't know, maybe ask ''why do you think the handling is shit?'' and go from there? Or if you completely disagree, you could simply ignore him. But ''skill issue'' makes no sense there. A few threads back I remember saying casually that rallying with FWD cars felt disgusting. Someone like you replied with ''skill issue'', even though it was clearly not about difficulty (FWD cars are notoriously easier and simpler to control than RWD, specially at rally), it made no sense there either. I blame FROMFAG fanboys for starting this trend.

On a different note, it seems like some people can't grast the concept that ''harder'' doesn't necessarily mean more realistic, or more fun, or better. Several real life rally drivers criticized RBR for having exagerated braking times, making the simulation harder and more frustrating than real life for no good reason. But try saying the same thing on the internet and see the RBRetards replying with ''skill issue''. DR2.0 is better in that regard, the braking times are more realistic and it makes for not only a better sim, but a better gaming experience. The bosses from Elden Ring are too aggresive with long strings of gapless chain moves that forces you to memorize their patterns through trial and error and then wait for their boring ass dance before you can tap R1 once and repeat the process untill he dies. Its not fun, and its not the right way of doing difficulty. You don't have to be clever, or resourceful, you can't adapt on the fly, you can't overcome the challenge simply using the game's fundamentals and your own skills. You have to play simon says. DS3 had way better bosses than ER. We can go beyond shutting down every discussion with ''skill issue'', sometimes there are valid criticisms to be had, sometimes its just a matter of preference...

the only real rally stage in dirt 2 was croatia, used to throw the mk2 escort around that so much. it didnt have any trailblazer events in career so kinda says a lot.

if you like arcade racers then i would say dirt 2 is definitely worth it, dirt 3 is kinda meh with all the gymkhana stuff but it has its moments. the first GRID is one of the best racers codies have made.
also you might have to download patches for dirt 2 and grid that remove games for windows live, dirt 3 had it removed.

Sim devs are too autistic to stop chasing diminishing returns in tire model physics and other technical but inconsequential elements in detriment of good game structure, career, progression, netcode, ranked matchmaking, art, design, music and style etc.

They need to keep those nerds in a tight leash, they need focus, they need a vision, WE need a new Kaz for this generation ASAP.

I'll keep fucking around with ACC. As it is, the worst thing I noticed about default setups in LMU I'd that tires tens to be underinflated, which only occasionally happens in ACC.

After putting in some effort I was able to (slightly) best my best lap time at Spa (set in the Ferrari 296).
I think the #1 thing for getting stability into the rear was cutting a little rear camber, a little more rear diff load, and lowering the rear bumpstop range.
I cut springrates across the board, as well. The steering has a whole lot more feel after the effort.

GT4's car detail alone is way above gt3, plus while gt3 is more "colorful" gt4 is not grey, it has way more complex tracks with varied locales.Like, nothing in gt3 gets close to this

I know that the UI is made super clean to make it easier read what the car is doing and I'm aware that newer GT games let you turn off the UI and you can watch your speed in the cockpit view at night all glowing and asthenic. But it's still weird theres no option for a classic UI I mean it's so clean it's fucking sterile.

I do have one major criticism for GT3. Why the fuck are their no volume options? Fucking Goldfinger's trying to do a cover of 99 Red Balloons but it sounds like an ant trying to talk to me while the car goes BBBZZZZZZ BBZZZZZ BBBBZZZZZZZZ! Unless you drive a V8 in which case it goes FRRRRRTT FFRRRTTTTT FFFRRRRRTTTTTTT! What the fuck were they thinking? They payed Snoop Dogg to make a song and you can't even hear it because the inlines and V8's are buzzing and farting at you on a permanent 99 volume.

Honestly Iโ€™m tired of dialing out the understeer of every single car I want to drive in GT7.
Itโ€™s either that or choosing unrealistically grippy rubber.

I'm waiting for someone to make picrel, but instead of DUB Magazine it's Petersen and instead of an Escalade/300C it's a Humvee and a tube frame CJ5.

Fanatec is owned by Corsair now and theyโ€™re a lot less likely to disappear.

See if thereโ€™s a bundle for the McLaren wheel. Itโ€™s quite good for circuit racing with GT3โ€™s and (probably) open wheel cars.
The regular CSL wheel is not even close to as well-suited. However itโ€™s fine for road cars and rallying.

i ordered it from amazon with the mclaren gt3 wheel since they sell fanatec stuff on there now. i dont really like round rims for actual racing and that seems to be the only bundles on fanatec's site

I cant fit a 3 screen setup in my desk and I can't really afford a decent ultrawide. I have a 27".
Would a VR set be better for simracing than my 27"?
What VR set woukd be better?
Is it worth it?

using your own phone as a monitor is miles better than VR. Don't fall for it.

Why would you choose to strap a headache inducing brick to your face for a mere 90 to 110 degrees of fov when you can get 200 degrees with a triple monitor setup? Just get a new desk and monitor arms and it will still be cheaper than VR, which is a very expensive gimmick.

DR2.0 and modded AC. Maybe EA's WRC if you have a beefy PC and want to experience all their locations and official WRC licensed cars.
