Anon with the MT07, it probably wasn't overfilled and youre probably lower on oil. Its enough to make the difference. On most dipsticks and electronic ones, the distance between min and max is 0.5-1L.
There is no such thing as level ground and the only accurate way to measure is counting.
Trust the sight glass, and its fine if its above min, and if youre above max, the bike will just vent out the extra oil. Most oil pans/sumps can hold more oil than the manufacturer specifies.
Break in oil is probably thinner so it should go away with the service, if it doesn't than thats just how the bike is.

My R7 consumed oil and had to fill up every 2 weeks. The cp2 is known for that especially after 15k miles. It’s due to the oil ring design being shit, mixed with 270 degree low-comp parallel twins like the CP2 not liking high RPMs.

speaking of me
I noticed the clutch gear mechanism is broken on the DR. (on the side cover)
I don't even think this is an issue because I don't think the gear rotates enough to do a 360, so I could just make sure the broken part is facing the back
BUT, I do wonder if there's a little piece of metal waiting to cause chaos inside the engine when I put everything back together.

I also took off the valve cover. I noticed what looks like dimpling on the inside of the valve cover. I'm not sure if a previous owner was trying to increase clearance for the valve springs or what.
One of the previous owners was a farmer or nigger and replaced one of the valve cover bolts with a standard SAE sized bolt with the wrong threads so I'm hoping it didn't completely destroy the thread in the head of the engine.
It's one of the 4 bolts that goes right beside the cam too, so he must've been a real bonehead.
at least the cam and rockers look okay.

ECE reg for a P/J helmet, what they call modular, is that the lower face protection stay in place during the retention tests. In other words, it has to pass the same test that ensures the helmet will not come off your head. So if you’re not worried about that, you shouldn’t be worried about it opening.

I've heard that these companies make different head shapes based on region. To get ECE they would need to test the shells with NA foam shapes. Because ECE is not a requirement they dont get them tested. Plus I think they're realizing that most riders in NA dont care if ECE is painted on the lid. Then there's the tracks that only care about SNELL.

Listen, I've lived all over. It makes no damn sense how this works, but this is best I can determine.
You draw a line from DFW down to San Antonio. Anything west of that is considered West Texas. The northen part of that is the Panhandle, the southern part is the Big Country. Anything west of Midland is just various degrees of El Paso.
It gets worse east of the dividing line. East Texas only means Tyler. Houston is just as far east as Tyler, but it's not East Texas, it's the Bay Area. DFW is North Texas even though it's further south than the Panhandle. Austin and San Antonio are considered Central Texas, even though they are quite east and south of Brady, the actual center. South Texas is just anything touching Mexico that isn't El Paso.
Abandon all hope of reason or consitency. This land was settled by white people that Santa Anna used as meat shield against the Commanche, and other Mexicans who thought those guys would make cool neighbors. No one can drive for shit here, everyone is armed, and the heat makes everyone grumpy.

The last time I changed my own tires it was an ancient two-piece rim for tubeless tires and everything was so old that every piece was practically welded to the other. Bolt cutters and a Sawzall were involved, and when I was done I threw half a tire onto the roof of my garage and that's where it's been ever since. One time the wind blew it down and without even thinking about it hucked back up there, just because I've gotten so used to it being there. Anyway, good luck, have fun, enjoy yourself.

Nightster. It's small and underpowered but it's their cheapest.
what about ARAI helmets?
thinking about the ARAI TOUR-X5.
id use it for supermoto riding on the street and some adventuring, its probably a good compromise.
what i dont like is the vents, looks like they are a little flimsy/small.
also it doesnt have a sun visor because arai says that compromises safety too much.
whats the general verdict on arai?
any other helmet ideas?
thought about a modular one but i cant find one i like with a doubld D strap and not sure if i actually need a modular one.

The point is being easy and cheap to repair, which is good if you’re touring the middle of nowhere or ride on third world roads, whether actual third world or mainly unpaved.
The tire itself doesn’t have to hold air, so it can sustain more damage before you need a new one

Not sure where you are, but around here as long as you can get the U-Haul to another U-Haul store in 24 hours it’s a pretty cheap price. We did 20 hour continuous round trip Long Island, NY to Chapel Hill, NC to move a friend of mine down to med school that way to avoid paying mileage fees. That’s approximately 1900km, so 1500km is doable.

I totally agree with you. I’ve been solo riding for nearly 20 years. The few times I’ve ridden with other people or in groups I’ve regretted it. The only advantage for riding with someone is if you ride off road deep in the woods, there’s someone there to find help if you have an accident. One day I’m going to break an ankle or something in the woods and lay there in pain getting eaten alive by mosquitoes until someone finds me.

If you look like a responsible individual, you can sometimes ask a dealership if they can put a lowered seat on a bike for you to just swing a leg over. You'd be surprised how much of a difference it makes. Sometimes it also makes the seat narrower side to side so the reach to the ground is more direct. The only thing you sacrifice is a bit of comfort from lost padding.
My 850gs genuinely feels like ~32" to the ground. I regularly let people swing a leg over it that think it's tall and ungainly. It feels shorter than my ktm390.

The FINAL BOSS OF ALL HARLEYS is one of their three touring bikes: Road King; Streetglide; Roadglide. Any Harley you buy on your way to an FLH model is just a stepping stone. In Harleynomics it is therefore more expensive to buy the cheapest Harley, since that cost is inevitably added to what you pay for your touring Harley later (the PanAm may be an exception to this rule.)

Most parts aren't an issue.
Might pay out the ass for body work (lol if you ever need a tank) but mechanicals seem easy to get (engine seized?! We have a big bore kit for $299.99!!).
Exhaust pipes can be cut&welded.
Slip-ons you can change with the seasons.
Brakes, tires, bearings, chains&sprockets are standardized and relatively interchangeable. 80mm has been a common mounting pattern for brake calipers for 50 years as an example.
Triple clamps and fork tubes are commonly swapped for funsies.
Most bikes are simple enough that you can swap over to something in the same family without an engineering degree.

Forgot that one but they still have the standard for both versions. I know it worked for the goldwing but that is a way different bike and buyer than the younger market and the eclutch has been significantly more positively received so far. Who even buys the new nc750s they basically disappeared from dealerships after switching to dct and I literally have never seen one on the road with the dct.

The Tenere is good, but common man you could have come up with a more flattering example.
Hit the big ol 30k on the odometer today (missed it by 11 miles damn)
I’ve had this bike for just under 10 months and I absolutely adore it. Averaging just under 1400 miles a month I think
I saw an R6 at the stoplight and I waved to him and he waved back, I made a “similar” hand motion towards our engines and we both gave our bikes a quick rev to redline in unintentional synchronization it was very cute. He seemed a lot more excited than me lol, he had a graphic Sedici helmet and some really nasty blue LEDs in his headlight housing making the whole housing look blue so maybe a new rider? Either way it was nice.
Getting my valves checked at the end of the month, hopefully I don’t get any rough starts while I wait for my usual guy to become available.
Today was a good day for riding, I love motorcycles /blogpost

A lot of it is commuter miles tbqh but I do be riding the fuck out of this thing. I put down a little over 700 miles last last weekend. The inline four engine just feels so smooth and perfect for sport/touring/commuting. It’s funny I thought I was hyping it up in my head when I rode the R3 but I genuinely adore this engine configuration. It feels so smooth and exciting and peaky and fun, whenever I’m having a bad day I get out on my bike and remind myself I own a high revving inline four and enjoy every second of my commute home.
Speaking of which I almost dumped it at an intersection on my way home today lol, didn’t notice some gravel in the road as I was taking a right turn and felt myself slipping but I did the leg thing the racers do and turning my handlebars towards to the side I was falling on. I saved it and got on with my ride but it scared the shit out of me lol

Way too much, check used Meteor 350, Duke 390, BMW G310, Rebel 250, rebel 300, ninja 300, Ninja 400, Ninja 250. Just check for any of them, used R3s should also be plenty. Himmy 411 or 450. So many bikes should do.

For me, just three and I'll not buy anymore.
- R1250GS / AT
- RC51 / R6 / GSXR 750. Any good sport bike
- A Scoot (125 or more)
Bonus, DRZ400.

I've got two forever bikes (VFR800 and R1250RS). If I had room+money for two more I'd get a Z900RS (I4, pretty, analog/retro) and a Pan Am. I have absolutely no interest in hardcore offroading or trying to race as a sport.

TZR125. You want 100mph out of "12hp". I have your bike right here.
It went where no 125cc bike had gone before.

Can anyone please recommend me a Quad Lock alternative that doesn't require a phone case? Wanna get a foldable which I think my only options are either the universal adapter or running it without a case. If it can still do wireless charging then even better.
