Come to think of it, motorcycling is a bizarre hobby.
We engage in a pseudo-athletic activity that slowly wrecks our bodies with noise and vibrations and shocks, with a chance to turn into a literal wreckage in an instant, with no athletic benefits.
We greet each other, but riding is mostly a solitary, sometimes even a-social activity.
Some say it is all to attract chicks, but judging by the popularity of mt07 and other bikes with similarly shaped tanks, motorcyclists are OK with crushing their own balls.
Traveling with a motorcycle is also meh — a train is generally faster, a bicycle lets you see more (and is compatible with train travel).

CB650R left me perplexed.
It feels so stable when riding straight that it's the only bike I feel comfortable continuously controlling with right hand only. I also sort of need to put my left hand on my thigh to sit more relaxed.
It is nimble. But when I tried to lean as far as I do on less sporty bikes, I felt it slipping. Looks agile, rides sketchy, wtf.
And the engine sounds quieter at 3-4k rpm than at idle, wtf again.

I went around a slow van by cutting into a coned off area on the side of the road, but I didn't know I was almost at the top of the gear I was in. So I essentially rev bombed this guy bouncing off of the rev-limiter. When I upshifted, it put me in the powerband; and I accidentally power wheelied away.

Google says it's a 5 hours and half trip to reach where i'll call it quit and search for a place to sleep but adv-dad says it will probably be closer to 7 considering traffic, stops and lunch and it may not be a dry ride but day 2 should be nice and sunny for the alps all the way down to home.

Things like the Cub aren't actually automatic, they're semi-auto. You still have a gear shifter, it just has a centrifugal (auto) clutch. They don't really exist much in the West, but you would usually call them an "underbone" because of their frame shape.

You're right that we do talk about bikes in terms of "classes" based on engine size, but they usually aren't that finely defined. Scooters basically come in 110cc and 125cc classes, and (beginner-reasonable) bikes come in 125, 300, 400, 650 classes. But the actual engine size doesn't really correlate to the class, like the CB500F is in the 400 class.

Confidence comes in stages. It took me about a month before I was even comfortable going at 60km/h on a regular road. Focus on feeling comfortable with the bike first, and then take conscious steps to learn how cars behave. It's good to know the statistically likely ways to crash, so you know what to look out for.
Once you've been riding for a while you'll often be able to predict their behaviour before they even know they're going to do it. There are good videos online explaining some of this stuff.

Yeah I do all the maintenance myself otherwise. Change tires, oil, brake pads, spark plug, yknwo the low skill usual. Being in North Michigan the riding season can only last so long before we get 2ft of snow overnight so hoping to make it until late November.

I don't have anything to compare to but it is quite nimble on the road, just a bit gutless. Kind of have to build momentum before passing vehicles. Much prefer it as a slow trail bike.

If you increase fuel pressure with your new fuel pump, your shit will run richer, all the injector timing values would need to be reduced. A stock pump can always out flow a non turbocharged engine, you should just get a aftermarket ems and bump the injection times up if you want it to run richer. Without logging ego the whole shit is a mistake btw, wrenchlet.

Be cautious, especially once you get to low tread. A patch/plug might be safer, I had plugged a hole in my rear and once the tread was low it depressurized or came out, deflated my tire and it de-beaded at 70.
