All around it's a quite nice bike, but it just doesn't really spark any emotion in me.
I'd trade it for an Ural or even a 750 OHV engine in a heartbeat.

First time posting as a bongoid, I am going to be getting a 125cc in May next year to get in experience riding motorbikes for the first time. Aside from trying my hardest to any avoid chink shit when the time comes despite every local dealership stocking tons of the fucking things, I am hoping to get a full catergory A loicense a year after as I will be 25 by then with hopefully enough practical hands on experience to manage a larger bike on the road.

With all that in mind do I have shit taste for liking the Honda GL1500s and GL1200s and would I be in over my head to aim to have one as my first full catergory A bike in the future? What would I be in for? I do like more conventional naked style bikes but my father already has a Harley Fatboy and Nightster so I don't want to get something he can just chuckle at and say it looks like a Harley but with none of the grit or hear people joke about me following in his footsetps if that makes sense.

try to avoid dealerships, they overprice their stock, and lowball on tradeins
get yourself a honda cb125f as a starter bike if youre going to ride it for a while - absolutely bulletproof bikes, and hold their value really, REALLY well in this country
(i bought mine for 2k from a private seller, rode for 2 years on my CBT before doing full license, then another 6 months before I found my perfect dream bike - sold the honda for 1800)
just check fbmarket place or private sellers on autotrader

Theres absolutely nothing wrong with liking goldbergs, but as a first bigbike its probably not a great choice, since theyre fucking yuge. If you can get experience somewhere, somehow wheeling one around before you buy it, to get comfortable with how heavy they are, I'd highly recommend it
as for your dad laughing, or people joking about your bike - not a thing in the community as far as I've experienced here,
I go to a regular bike night and theres a young guy (probably about 25 himself) who rides a goldberg, all his mates ride in on their naked and sports bikes, but none turn heads like the goldberg

also, unless you *legally* cant, whats stopping you from getting the bike now? we've still got another 3 good months of weather, when the good weather starts to hit next march and you can get a few days riding in, you'll be kicking yourself for not starting sooner

Well there’s also max horsepower at 12k rpm and the limiter doesn’t come around until 14k and this is an engine that’s detuned from one that reaches 16.5k but I reckon I’m gonna run into a lot more engine trouble trying to shift between first and second at high rpms between every corner than I will riding the race detuned race engine at its detuned limits for 20 minutes

Thanks anon, I am not too picky when it comes to 125s as I see it as more of a stepping stone. The only reason I have been looking at the dealerships is due to the security of having a warranty but I can certainly go down the marketplace route.
>whats stopping you from getting the bike now?
Trust me if I could I would but I am currently piling in funds for a major renovation for my house which should be done by the end of March. It's a big quote so once I have got that cleared I can then immediately get a bike.

>>28574470
Yeah I get what you mean. I am just still pretty raw when it comes to bikes so I am making sure I am not picking something that is secretly a shitbox if that makes sense. Weight is something though I haven't considered too much about so I am going to have a look at that further as I just assumed they would be just an average touring heftyness.

Sup /dbt/.

I have Yamaha XJ6 2012 and a throttle handle vibration problem:
>Oil change in July, I think they didn't have "hot" liquidy oil and changed it to more viscous "winter" one
>It's fucking +40° here
>vibration in right handle (throttle handle) became unbearable
>right hand gets numb in 15 minutes
>if you put your pinky on a brake lever it gets numb in less than a minute
>it's not warped brake disk vibration: let go of throttle at any speed and the vibration disappears, it's from engine
>manhandled the bike while cruising: the handlebar riser vibrates, the fork tri-clamp vibrates and the frame vibrates (I reached under the tank on the go)
>it SEEMS like the frame vibrates stronger from the right side

What could this shit be?
My current theories:

>the sticky winter oil makes bike vibrate more in hot weather, in general, and right handlebar simply vibrates more because it houses heavy brake cylinder
I'm going to clamp equal weight to the left side and test if vibration would appear on the left.
>the handlebar is just shit
I took off the middle brace thingy, shiny steel in the picture, and vibration lessened, to the point where I could take it for 40 minutes without much numbing, but it is still strong. That shit was tight too so it didn't rattle or anything. I don't know what to make of it. Less fucking weight means vibration is less violent?
>I'm just getting fucking old
Guess I need to do more planks to strengthen core and offload more weight from my hands.
>some obscure spark plug/cap fuckery
I've read 600riders thread about it and vibration seems uniform throughout the bike. Transmitting to pegs etc. My pegs are fine, not vibing much.

Any other suggestions? I had the same bike with 28mm nekken risers & straight handlebar and I did not notice such violent vibration. But it was a much colder country.

Before that, I had a Ninja 650 and the bitch vibrated entirely, both hands getting numb in 30 minutes, I sold it after a month.

>Well did it vibrate like that before the oil change?
It did vibrate, but It didn't feel so violent. Then again my front brake master cylinder died around the same time, I assume from the vibration. Maybe the steel dirtbike handlebar was not such a great idea.

It could be that bike vibration was already there and didn't change but I just got older and more sensitive to it. Or it did get worse with bike age. I've put some some 10k since I bought it 3 years ago.
>Put handlebar weights on.
They're on but I've jerry-rigged heavy bar weights that not fit entirely into the handlebar. They're tight now, but often come loose. I did try taking them off entirely and vibration got much worse.

For now, I have taken off the steel brace in the middle of handlebar, and the issue got a little better.

I think I will try trapping some fine lead shot mixed with sand at handlebar ends, and put better-fitting bar ends (weights) that I can find locally without ordering. This should give better vibration dampening.

Failing that, I would have to order new risers and 28mm aluminum handlebar, since I used to have it on same bike model before and it was fine.

Colder season is coming and I would use thicker winter gloves, somewhat helping the issue too. That should take me until next season, where I will order service with valve & throttle sync, spark plug/cap change etc.

Just checking if anons have any other ideas I can try in the meanwhile.

I saw an aftermath of chopper dude kissing cabin of truck that turned left abruptly (I presume), just the other day. Fucker caused me lose all the fresh from dipping into the sea. Chopper fork was inside its radiator and there was blood inside the dent cabin door. I was only ever going full throttle on roads without any crossroads, now I'm even more sure this is the right way. If anyone can merge from secondary or turn left - they can and will kill you if you speed there, eventually.

If so buy the busa then sell it when you’re done for the same price.
If it needs tires oil an engine rebuild whatever then don’t cos you wont get that money back.

I've been eyeing the A* SMX Air v1 or v2 and the Dianese Steel Pro but I don't think those gauntlets will still be in stock by the time I get around to buying them. No not at all. It's a good bike.
you'll get a huge build quality upgrade overall and a strong aftermarket.
I wouldn't ktm at all, the motor is a stressed member and it's gonna break with mild offroad use.
The move on the new drz4 is S but get sm wheels. the SM you can't fully disable abs and you dont have as much front fork adjustability and S.

Here's my suggestion:
Get a DRZ400 and do a carb swap, that way, you don't have to WORRY about a flash. And it's infinitely repairable unlike EFI junk that hopefully has a flash sometime in the next ten years.

>Has to be capable of taking a hellacious beating and be ridden hard and wheelies of course
Like I said, DRZ400, no one knows what the DR4S' failure points are, while the 400 is a tried and true beast people understand inside and out.

After hours for sure, that's when all the car stuff happens. (Or at least used to, I've heard it's pretty dead these days.) It's a uniquely good road for it, especially the back side of the hills, because the layout and the big rock walls make it really easy to see oncoming traffic so you can pretty safely double lane it as long as you know the few corners to be careful on.

Also NTA, and I agree you should remember important routes. How to get to work, home, a friend's house, etc., but having your phone or GPS on a trip does the exact opposite. If you're trying to get somewhere unfamiliar and you're trying to remember directions that will stress you out and not allow you to enjoy the ride. It may also just force you to take less interesting roads like the interstate because it has signs every mile to remind you where you're at and ensure you're on the right path.
When I'm planning out a fun route to go somewhere, I like having a piece of equipment that will make sure I don't miss an obscure turn, and if I do will reroute me and save me the hassle of having to pull over or back track. You don't even really need to see it. Sometimes I just have my phone in my pocket connected to my headset for audio only directions, keeping my bars and controls clean.

Also also NTA, but all I do is write my turns, highways, and exits in sequence on a piece of paper that I keep in my pocket. I believe this frees up my mind to enjoy the experience. The map on the phone can be consulted before leaving in the morning, at food stops, and when I inevitably miss a turn and get lost. Part of the enjoyment for me is being disconnected from digital devices and out in the wide world alone. I study my routes while I'm planning my trip, and in the evening while I'm bedded down. I also turn my mini maps off on computer games so I can enjoy the scenery there, too.

Dumbest shit I've ever heard. If the sun is up, that's your compass. I keep the notes either taped to the tank or in a clear tank bag pocket, but you can absolutely look around and navigate at the same time. How do you think people did this before GPS?

I just write shorthand like LEFT SNEEDFEED AVE 25mi. That + trip odometer and just pay attention to signage at intersections. I still will park and break out jewgle maps on occasion if I really think I missed a turn, but usually it's just 1-2 miles further ahead and I was being needlessly paranoid. Sometimes those little wrong turns bring you to interesting places when you're far from civilization. I rode something like 15,000 miles across the country like this.

NTA but the difference between written directions and live directions is your ability to rely on second to second informational updates instead of your own memory. So there’s far less vitality on noticing every little detail around you and your brain doesn’t feel the need to internalize it as much.
Not to say that it’s something that you’re experiencing personally but there’s actually been a major generational loss of navigational skills due to live GPS being so ubiquitous and unobjectionable.
Also just my opinion but you should probably be doing a scouting run before actually running through corners anyway just so you can get a good understanding of the pavement quality on that particular day

installed some parts on my bike yesterday
also did an oilchange, pic rleated - got soma more shavings than i had on the super duke, but i asked a buddy he said its normal.

>grip donuts (heck yeah, why not)
>fork sliders
>new brake/clutch levers

help me out here now:
after installing the levers i went on a ride.
i adjusted the brake lever to have a very, very short free travel before on the pressure point of the brake.
i rode a bit, and at one point the brake didnt open anymore, was basically stuck after i braked.
had to stop the bike, brake lever has "hard" as if i was pressing it, and the brakes were not locked up but braking hard, couldnt push the bike around. i played around with the lever a bit, few minutas later it was normal again.

you think i might have adjusted it with too little free travel?
i am 100% cetrain that the brake was completely released when not touching the lever. but maybe the pressure point travels while riding and thats why it clamped shut.
i readjusted it to have a lot more free travel before the pressure point, no problems since then but didnt ride that much

>you are responsible for your own actions
Never denied saying this, in fact its emphasized with what Jesus Christ represents; i.e. you burn in hellfire because you earned your place there
If you dont abide in the Grace of God, you are a subject of cause and effect

And yes the royal "we" still applies: even if you had no understanding of what torah defines as sin etc. You are still liable for all that you did get raised in as per happenstance with regards to morality, that is how the bible describes judgement therein upon the gentiles etc.
Then once you exposed to the gospel of Jesus Christ, the burden is upon you to either recieve or reject that free Gift of Salvation- under the assumption you understood what was detailed in its simplicity of course- not talking about posers who just go full plebbit on anything not conforming to their fake and gay palette
I will say that the misrepresentation from poor examples will also have their falling out for the poor seeds they sowed in those who didnt know the Living God
We also get 1000 years to sort out differences and learn directly from Jesus in the Temple come that time, and im assured in my faith that there are going to be plenty of people there wondering how they did end up there, and we will show them the Way, the Truth, and the Life which was foretold
Its gonna be awesome, hope i see some deebeetee bros in the Kingdom, ill be there and im ao happy for it

Polaris owns Indian, not Triumph. The FTR seemed like a nice bike, I just didn't fit it.

I agree the metal helmet will put you out of your misery and thankfully so because your main reason for wearing it is you are a fashionista gaylord

Harley's are for buying to impress your friends with your cool new 40k toy at the bar. You then have to drink off the $800/m payment and crash riding home because you thought you were "good"
Or
Based hooligans on sportsters or dyna's. no in-betweens.

Heletmets don't even do anything. Just a made up industry scam to farm hundreds per rider every few years. They're like insurance.

Buy a Harley, retard, the current generation of soft tails are the best they’ve ever made
Sounds like you’re looking for something muscle bound, maybe a used fat bob is up your alley

Are these boots any good for riding? I'm looking for a good set of boots that will keep my ankle from crinkling up in an unfortunate scenario, but doesn't stick out visually too much and isn't super uncomfortable to walk in. I've been trying to find decent casual looking gear since I started commuting to work on my vfr. Also any good glove recommendations that work with a phone screen while I'm at it?

So I plugged by handlebar ~14cm deep with cork, stuffed 1/1 volume birdshot and sand, and sealed it with nicely fitting bar ends. Overall it should be ~200gr at the grips, same as original handlebar.

And it didn't do a fucking thing kek. The vibration still as strong as before. Right hand numb after 20 minutes of riding.

I've checked on the go today and gear/rear brake levers also vibrate like motherfuckers. It's the engine issue no doubt, the handlebar just cannot cope at all and if I was holding on to lower levers with my feet like a monkey, they'd go numb real fast too.

I'm going to wait for my paycheck and ask local mechanic to check spark plugs & caps, do a throttle body sync and tighten engine mounts if there are any.

I've went as far myself as replacing air filter, but I've watched a video and fuck removing that entire box and all the stupid hoses myself.

Bad part is that I doubt I can find spark plugs or caps locally. If they went bad, I'm going to wait a month or more for delivery.

I have similar ones. They seem to only have side armor pads. I have boots like those too that I started to wear over others like picrelated, because I started get back to back toenail issues and had to opt for less constrained shoes in general.

Those in your picture won't protect your ankle from being twisted. Or crushed from the side, really. You need that thick plastic brace that goes from sole to calf, you can see it in the picture and all of the armored motorcycle boots have it.

I crashed a bit while wearing those boot and entire bike fell on my foot. It was fine after a day of limping. Without that armor, I would probably get sprain or broken bone.

Those boots are comfy no doubt and more practical for everyday use. But they do not offer much protection.

>Also any good glove recommendations that work with a phone screen while I'm at it?
Check the fingerprint part on gloves, ones made to work with phones would have a distinctive fingerpads on at least thumbs and index fingers.

Also even for summer, get gloves with wrist velcro belts like picrel. They're bulkier and not as fast to take on and off, but they will stay on during the slide saving your hands the #1 thing you instinctively will put to the asphalt.
