What you should have done was buy the vehicle with financing, then come back the next day and pay off in cash. Not only will you pay no interest but you will fuck over the salesman cause they get paid comission from loans and get pennies when paid off early like this.

I would not carry 40k in cash alone and I have high level tactical training. If you take out that much money, the Mexicans who work at the bank are gonna tell their buddies an address where a guy keeps a lot of cash. I took out 10k when all those banks were failing, all the tellers were Mexican which made me uncomfortable, then lo and behold my house was burglarized for the first time but they didn't find it. Dealers also tend to give better deals if you finance a lot. That's why paying off the financing right after purchase double fucks them.

Anyway I heard some dealers make you promise to pay off financing slower or some shit. Anyway never experienced such things myself.

1. Cash purchases beyond 10k need to be reported, which is annoying paperwork, so the dealer probably told the new guy to just decline any cash purchases beyond 10k. Then the newbie probably told the manager about this and manager tells him he will take care of the technicalities- just call the dude to come back with the cash and they will deal

2. Most dealers make way more money from financing, not actually the sale of cars, so cash purchases give them way less profits than you think

3. Inventory is better now, but it's still not pre-covid levels. They would rather sell the car to a sucker who will finance 50k with interest than some dickhead with 40k cash.

The profit on the loan is like 70% of your total loan interest, which is in the thousands.

The sales side of a car stealyershit is basically a financial institution, stop thinking of them as a car institution.

(This is the same for airlines, their airline miles programs are basically a huge piggie bank of value much larger than the airline planes and shit combined. You have to wrap your head around modern Hebrew business world, nothing is what it seems.
