if you play your cards right ;) 5.25%

Bank of AmeriKKKunt cards give 3% cb on a category you select. You can get multiple cards, and set each card to a different category. You then get +75% boost on that 3% (to 5.25%) if you have >$100K stored in a retirement account with them.

So now I get 5.25% on dining, 5.25% on gas, 5.25% on online purchases, 5.25% on travel/flights/hoetails/etc. basically everything.

The only thing I can't get >5% back on is like dentist bills, which I charge to a new credit card with some opening bonus or something.

Not those anons but
>Have a good credit score.
If you don't, start with a secured card and make payments in full on it until your funny number goes up.
>get a card with an attainable sign on bonus
Make sure you're not spending for the sake of getting the bonus, but that you can hit the bonus requirement naturally. You can use big unavoidable purchases like insurance if you have to. Citi Custom Cash is a good starter for this, 5% cb in your single highest spend category. So make it your dedicated grocery card if that's what you spend on the most. Then you'll get your bonus after putting $1500 on it over 6 months. You can dedicate it to a different category any time. It will always be worth carrying in your wallet.
>Pay your statement balance in full every month.
Set up autopay so you never forget, but still check up on your transaction history often anyway.
>Repeat every 3-6 months.
If you're just starting out, a new card w/ sign on bonus every 3 months is alright. As your collection grows, stick to every 6 months. This makes approval for more cards easier from companies with hidden rules (i.e. Chase's 5/24 rule, I'll let you do your own research on this)

I use tap to pay with my card at most retail POS stations, but 9 times out of 10 it simply doesn't work for me at the pump. Either simply doesn't detect the card, or it generates an error making me stand there for 20 seconds before it'll let me try again.

They still haven't figured out tap to pay super well; yes we'll put the status lights right where you're covering them with your card, so useful! Different POS machine with dedicated LEDs? Well we'll still have you cover up the status lights!

>Do zoomers really use tap to pay?
I'm not a zoomer but yeah, thats what I sometimes see. People try tapping the tap to pay, when in reality its long-press to pay which apple users have no concept of anyway. Some say its because US POS stations are like 5 years behind EU and Asia's: that little chip we all have now came like 5 years after EU cards had them. I just assume the longpress-to-pay feature was poorly implemented in our cards and the pay stations weren't updated for years after that because that costs money and harms profits.

In my corner of Yurop you tap the side of the payment device, or if it's mounted on a wall or a gas pump, a marked spot to the side of the card slot (and its LEDs).
I don't think it's ever failed to work, though there's a fairly low daily cap, and every couple of weeks it asks for chip & PIN anyway to prevent stolen cards from being used for too long.

>that little chip we all have now came like 5 years after EU cards had them
Merchants have been liable for card fraud due to insufficient security (e.g. using those old magnetic stripes) in the EU since 2005; I don't think the US had a law like this until late 2015.

I don't think I've ever had one work for me. I'll try it again in a few weeks when I do my monthly fillup, but after 20+ years of paying at the pump its hard to break the cycle.

>Merchants have been liable for card fraud due to insufficient security
Yeah individual merchants are NEVER at fault, they don't check ID, they don't check anything. Why should they? Unless its very obvious fraud like a homeless guy walks in trying to buy a rolex on a card that clearly isn't theirs (his name isn't Jessica), merchants have basically zero liability and its completely on the payment processor to lose the money. The problem is merchants here thought they got paid and the merchandise goes out the door. So they do have a stake in making sure its not fraud, but no gas station can stop that fraud plus their gasoline is still out the tank.

At least in parts of the EU, the merchant has been 100% liable for like 20 years if they don't offer secure payment methods and someone manages to commit card fraud at their store because of that.

I think they entirely disabled the magnetic stripes here around many years ago; if a card still has one, swiping it won't do anything. Most places didn't accept them anyway because they didn't want to risk liability.

Poor hands typed this on a phone. All money is fake, no currency being printed has ever had intrinsic value. Even American education learned me that.

It determines the loan interest rates you're eligible for. A couple percentage points is enough to gain or destroy buying power.

With interest rate hikes:
>remove $150k of buying power on $500k mortgage
>used car costs just as much as new car in total expense

useless immigrants are the only ones flooding europe and america, that's intentional. no one wants these people and the west's obsession with ultrasocialism is destroying it. It was documented that multiple south american countries were shipping their criminals to the US just to get rid of them. Africa would undoubtedly do that too. You've never set foot outside of your gated community and it shows, nowhere in the world tolerates niggerdom and jeets except for yours.

this is exactly it. there are so many protections that it's entirely not worth even worrying about having your "card stolen".
last year one of my cards fell out of my wallet at a home depot and I got a text later showing a bunch of transactions at a fucking gas station followed by it being denied at a target like 3 times.
somehow these card companies know what is and isn't suspicious purchases and lock that shit down fast. then they just void those transactions and send you a new card. the retard who got my card got some free cigarettes or whatever out of it and that's it.

I can. It fails with cards more (the card is not powered, the hardware is cheaper and it can be damaged more easily), it fails with smartwatches less (probably because it's on internal not induced power) but still does sometimes, but most of these times it's the terminal's fault.
>is more reliable than inserting the chip
Never had a problem inserting the chip though, but since most of the stuff is contactless now (I'm a millennial so I remember not only cards without contactless but cards without the chip too), I stopped doing that often and use it as a fallback.
