i drive a mustang currently with 1 kid and 1 dog but my next car will be one of the following:

> tahoe/suburban
> expedition
> wagoneer
> transit
> savana/express
i personally would rather the savana or express but i cant really get past the 2006 interior and lack of ACC/carplay/AWD. for those reasons my wife wouldn’t want to drive it, but its the best bang for buck sitting at $10k under the cheapest tahoe.
my logic is that i refuse to buy another car for 10 years so best get one that will last that amount of time and allow my family to grow into it. truck platforms like the Tahoe are typically overbuilt, which makes that 10 year plan more realistic.

Just get a pickup dude. Tahoes are still pretty fucking good but with just 1 kid and 1 dog you don’t need all those seats. A truck will let you seat the missus, kid, and dog comfortably while hauling cargo in the bed and even towing toys. It’s a no brainer dude. And unless you get a vehicle with a 3rd row, you’ll always have as much or even more seating in the truck anyway.

Wanted 4WD and lockers but also needed usable back seats and a midsize truck was the most affordable and practical option. I would've bought a Ford Everest if they sold them in the US but sadly they don't and the only company making anything comparable is Toyota, whose ergonomics are torture for me.

My mom recently got a Highlander and I can see the appeal after driving it. It's like I'm driving in my own personal suite, sitting in a lazy boy. Though I think any modern car would feel like a luxury car to me since I drive a 30 year old sports car that gets hot and moans and creaks and has a deafening drone.

Infiniti QX80. Because I have a wife and kid, and the primary vacation we have is a road trip. When it was just the two of us we would fill up my CTS with cargo and with the kid it is even worse, and we'll hopefully start on another in not too long. Also I never fit in my CTS or a XJ Cherokee at 6'3".
