This game was probably complete shit. Publishers WANT to release games, it's the only way they can recoup their money. For 99% of games to get cancelled they have to be absolute dogshit or just totally busted on a technical level.

If you have a fixed camera angle then you only have to render half of any area, saving massive amounts of processing power. If the player could turn around in OPs image then you would have an entire extra area that has to be created and rendered. You're literally just skipping out on rendering like 50% of the environment compared to a game with a 3D camera.
