The super easy input for getting a Perfect Guard with SnS, the Guard Slash, was introduced in Rise. Or rather, it was always there, but it became an actual guard move in Rise. It used to just be an attack you could use while guarding, which ironically broke your guard, making it basically useless before now. In fact, as a Guard main myself since Tri introduced Lance's Counter, it was my go-to in Sunbreak after it introduced the Embolden skill that improved your Guard rating further than Guard Lv 5 while a monster was enraged, allowing SnS to actually block big attacks. So ironically, the Perfect Guard you're complaining about was actually first functionally introduced in Rise as well. Turning that move into a Perfect Guard was an extension of what they did in Rise. The perfect guard in Wilds is a counter move that functionally replaces Shoryugeki yet is less interesting and engaging than Shoryugeki. It's a step back from that. Sure that guard slash thing did exist in Rise, but Wilds actually gives you a counter that just nullifies most moves in the game, something built in to the weapon, much more akin to the Shoryugeki counter imo.

Wilds did sell incredibly well but I think the financial report and the whole need to "rush out the expansion" is due to the marketing costs.
So not only did the game cost x to make but it also cost some absurd amount to market it as hard as they did. So that has to be made back too. The lack of consistent sales after the initial boom may have hurt more than you'd think because of that.

I may return to Wilds when the expansion gets announced, but right now there's nothing worth a damn.

Wilds has the same level of boring World and Iceborne did, but at least I was able to handle the boring thanks to having friends to talk and hunt with.

Every time I look at this game, be it screen shots or my own save file, my brain can't help but scream "Wow look at all this clutter and ass". There is no visual clarity to speak of with Wilds, colors just run together and blend into one another and it's visually unappealing. Kill shots are the worst offender because for the longest time there was a fucking tint over the image, even if you got rid of any and all special effects making the game look even uglier. I get cleaner screen shots from Sunbreak and yeah one can say because it was developed for Switch first it's dial back on background visuals, but that's not bad in anyway. It's actually good because you can see shit and pick things out easier instead of having them get lost amongst visual vomit.

I've yet to see fun looking gameplay or anything that looks cool in this game. it seems to be a steaming turd, and somehow looks way, way worse than World did (even on PS4).
