The only decent stuff in this film was in the beginning before they open the bar, (and that's difficult if you're racist against blacks). Once they open the bar and the vampire shit starts, it turns into the most boring retarded obligatory-feeling checklisty film imaginable. Coogler is a faggot who comes across as always trying desperately to "define" the CULCHA and sell himself as some "real" one, from the tryhard sex scenes that have zero real passion or and feel more like cheap porn, to the retarded "BLACK MUSIC IS DA CULCHA NYUGGA" time portal montage, to the insistence on highlighting every anti-vampire trope's effectiveness EXCEPT for crosses and christian symbols, as he tries to "claim" or highlight the importance of voodoo bullshit, like he resents the fact that his amazing genius ancestors were committed to da huwhite man's religion, but doesn't have the balls to say it outright.
He comes across like he's always trying to create Wakanda in real life, just fabricating a sense of legitimacy and history for American blacks where there is none. Sure you can have subtext and allegory and stuff under the surface, but he doesn't actually focus on the writing or the story or the vampire premise at all, it's all treated as an obligation that he needs to get through in order to achieve greater real life status. You never get the sense that this is a guy who actually loves films or horror or vampires, because he treats everything like a ticket to a better life. all the characters and all the plot points are just things that he needs to quickly get through in order to achieve the superficial label of a vampire film. It's the same thing he did with Black panther. The whole film felt like an obligation from a guy that wanted to fast forward to the part where he starts getting worshipped as a hero for black culture, and not as a passion project from someone who actually enjoys cinema itself. He loves blackness, filmmaking is just an obstacle in the way.
