I really think the problem is motion capture and "performance capture." Video game characters look like they're wearing rubber masks of their own faces these days, because all the devs do is stick dots all over and actor's face and then import it into the game with little to no adjustment. The computer scans the dots, but they're ON the actor's face, so it makes the face look like a mask because it's bloated out by the fact that they're scanning those dots.

Played it recently and man, it has not aged well. The mission objectives are very dull and somehow killing enemies feels less satisfying than a fucking n64 game (Goldeneye), probably cause they're just bullet sponges who don't react to anything until they die. EoN has aged better, loads more variety in that game.

Almost all of the og PD took place in current time looking places with just high tech gadgets, it was the main arstyle of the game.
