Welcome to /vm/abinogi. Mabinogi is a fun, once popular little old school Korean MMO from 2004 based around Celtic mythology with many different features. Your character can age, rebirth, eat food and gain weight, play and custom make music, and so much more. You can be anything and do anything all at once with no downsides. From non-combat related skills like cooking, tailoring, blacksmithing, trading goods in a commerce, carpentry, etc. to different styles of combat like melee, magic, ninja, archery, puppetry, etc. all on 1 character.

Although graphics and gameplay is still a bit dated, even after 28 years the game is still rich in content such as fashion contests, cooking contest, jousting, playing in or viewing large concerts, training pets, and so on and continues to be Nexon's most generous game.

These are Alby passes but it's the same concept. Just run X Advanced dungeons and the end chest has a chance of giving you a mangled pass. You get the Advanced passes from the vendor by the artifact rock by the dunby moon gate, the same person that gives you the Veteran pass.

Magic and Astrologer are getting nerfed 55%~ in a future arcana balance update. Vivace is being buffed to boost magic attack by a percentage the same as battlefield overture, so if you aren't already invested into bard now is a bad time to invest into magic because your damage will be devastated in a few months without a bard set in addition to a matk set.
If you have or want to make a bard set however the ceiling for magic's damage is about double and astrologer 1.3~1.4x what it is now.

You will want reforges for later game content but you don't need to worry about them at all initially, and there are reforges available in game without paying cash, available from the dungeon guide shop, repeat dungeon clear rewards, the commerce shop, and some others.
You can also get some basic reforges that will roll up to 15 level on a single line from certain dungeons, it isn't too bad now days but it use to be 100% cash shop some years ago so there's some lingering bitterness on the subject.

What's an entry level archery set look like?

Celtic Royal Crossbow from Chronicle npc in Avon which opens up after you do generation 12 storyline, before that just use Blaanid crossbow, use Blaanid's armor or anything better you manage to pick up until you get a Bohemian set put together.
You will want to use blue special upgrade stones on the Celtic Royal Crossbow since early on, and even quite a bit later in game max damage with bows is too low for red special upgrade's critical damage bonus to do equal average damage to blue's flat damage bonus.
From that point you can either jump to Bhafel Hunter Bow+Huntress arrow as a decent upgrade, or hold out until you can craft Demolition Breaker Bow+Arrow which is a significant upgrade and will get you through most of the late/endgame content. Demolition also gives you magnum shot enhance set effect so you can start investing more into some gacha set bonus light armor like imperial knight or shadow reaper at this point, but you mostly want to prioritize your weapon for progression.

Battle Astrology is an amazing secondary for a Mage main, I use it quite a bit myself despite having no arcana to go with it yet it has some synergy with Dark Mage and Healslut due to scaling off magic attack.
You can go for whatever you like first, but in the current patch Battle Astrology is very strong early game and doesn't require buffs to reach that potential. It will require you cast Vivace in a future update though.
