Thread question:
How much damage has your army (armies) suffered as a whole?
>TQ
None. This will be my first edition. I will buy the box, and wait to see what I will purchase next after im done with the said saturine box.
>>96069258 (OP)>TQ about 1/3rd my army is wounded/crippled from this.
All I wanted was the option to purchase Bitter Duty on characters.
>>96069258 (OP)Death Guard look stronger than before, but my personal army? Lost my dreadnoughts, and my plasma cannons got nerfed while every other heavy got arguably buffed, apothecaries look like ass, and primus medicae has ceased to exist. SO... I'll be running nothing but terminators and tanks if I decide to play 3e
>>96069258 (OP)>TQ:How much damage has your army (armies) suffered as a whole?World Eaters thankfullly arent that bad, mainly Rampagers are bad and Red Butcher are good again.
Dark Angels have boring base rules, but pretty good legion units.
Overall not that bad compared to others.
>>96069258 (OP)>TQDestroyers and HQs the most. Thankfully my group adopted a grandfather clause for things if Legacies doesn't help.
>>96069299>Dark Angels have boring base rules, but pretty good legion units.DA player here, yes you can rip on me.
But no not really, the only solid legion specific unit we have now is Inner circle knights which again, great unit not saying they are not, but intemptors are DOA.
We lost plasma repeaters as well.
DA got taken down several pegs, probably more then they should have.
>>96069310Oh sorry also DWC but those are retinues so harder to actually utilize.
>>96069310What kind of illiterate idiot thinks eternal warrior 1 Deathwing Companions are bad? What a crybaby.
>We lost plasma repeaters as well. You mean the overpriced gun that no one used, oh man what a loss.
>TQ
>Raven Guard player
>love muh seekers
>love my beamer naut
>hated the gay 40 shot rending 4+ mor deythan and now they're a dedicated sniper squad again
I'm doing great
>TQ
I play an Iron Warriors list that's:
4x 10 Tacs + Apothecary, each in a rhino
6x Quad Mortar Rapiers
2x Scorpius
1x Contemptor
1x Autocannon Iron Havocs (10 man)
1x Volkite Caliver Support Squad (10 man)
1x Siege Breaker
1x Power Armor Warsmith with a Command Squad - everyone just has power swords, the Command Squad have Shields
The only thing that's illegal now is the Warsmith, so that Command Squad is probably being put on the shelf with him.
>>96069335>What kind of illiterate idiot thinks eternal warrior 1 Deathwing Companions are bad? What a crybaby. Its a retinue unit, its great but its harder to spam.
Repeaters were great what are you on? Are you thinking of the burners? THOSE were expensive as fuck, but repeaters were great as glass canon units.
>>96069288All i wanted was to do a little war crime against my former brothers in a bygone age to the bitter end.
Pouring a drink for Destroyers, for the arms and armor weโve lost, and 2 more for Bligh
>>96069258 (OP)I saw one page of journal leaks, any others?
>>96069340I'm pretty sure warsmiths are still around anon
>>96069342>Its a retinue unit, its great but its harder to spam. Why are you spamming the 300pt unit? Just take a hero, put him in there and delete your opponent's best stuff.
>Repeaters are greatOk, so you dont know what your doing, got it. Glad they took that toy from you, it'll force you to learn to play better.

>>96069380Oh ok you know what, fair quite fair.
>TQ
None thankfully. I was still in the accumulation stage (increasing my pile of shame) while planning out my force (uhming and ahing occasionally while painting other shit).
I was also keeping an eye ouzt for that one guy who basically sculpted gal vorbak with all the weapon options, but that was like playing whack-a-mole. And now might not be necessary anymore unless they manifest that shit via legacies or DLC
>>96069372Yeah, thats kitbashing, what the fuck do you think any other kitbashing was?

>>96069372I mean isn't that what most kitbashing is for those without a 3d printer?
>>96069402My defintion of kit bashing is not "Buy these 2 explicit kits to combine them into this unit."
Its along the lines of
"Hey i have all these spare bits i can use to make a unique character that fits this profile or units for thematic flare." not an out right "if you wanna build this unit you gotta by these 2 kits."
>>96069401>Buy two kits to make a unitYou still bought two kits dumbass
>>96069297anything revealed for DG other than legion rite and grave wardens? Heavy support squads look like they'll cost more, at least for a lot of weapons
>>96069378Unfortunately no. Bad primarch, extra movement doesn't matter when you can't win in melee as everything is stronger than scars. Death guard move-and-shoot is better for mobile gunlines and flexibility if you're not gonna be a good melee army. Other legions are better at the flexible wide-play like Ultramarines free reactions everywhere on the board. The "go fast" thing stops mattering the second any status are dished out as any 3 status makes scars strike last in melee to go with their mediocre stats, and immobilize status is a 2-for-1, the losing-reactions one hurts when it also disables the scars run-away reaction too, and if you can't melee being forced to fire snap-shots is a killer. Tanks don't get any advantage from the extra movement and stuff like 10 lascannons is too expensive to be running 9" to deal as much damage as a squad a third the cost (and running backwards means opponent bullies you away from caps).
Games only last 4 turns and battles are on boards too small for real life hit-and-run tactics. And you can't do hit-and-run tactics against stuff like Death Guard, Alpha Legion, Ravenguard or Iron Hands or Ultramarines or others which automatically steamroll Scars in a long range gunline contest.
>>96069362>Drop them to T5 but give them battle hardened(1)Hard on on the battle hardened, save that for the sally unique satties
>Give them Firing Protocols(2) baseMaybe
>Have the thermal defraction field let you take regular armor saves against all Gets Hot rolls.Thats normal gets hot, just make it so melta and las are counted as -1S for a psuedo battle hardened for the big energy weapons

>Heavy Disintegrator is S8 AP2 Shred Gets HotAnd instant Death for d3 on bigger targets

>300 points cannot be taken in squads larger than 3 all wargear options same cost as 3.0.Should still be able to take 6
>>96069413* oh, and unlike warhammerfantasy, extra movement speed doesn't mean if your weaker squad breaks the enemy's morale and they run away, that you can catch them as they flee and they die. In 3E they just run away and then stop safely and crush the Scars again.
So are EC dead in the water?
>>96069420Well I'm not playtesting it.
Maybe I'll set some of them up as targets so I can zero my .22's scope.
>>96069439not as dead as WS, pour one out for the Space Mongolians.
>>96069439I thought you HH players didn't care about power levels, just playing /yourdudes/?
>>96069439Looking to be middle of the pack. Striking first with power axes is certainly better than White Scars. Though the EC special units suck major cocks. (every other unique terminators are 3-4 attacks, EC is 2 attacks)
>>96069439More like alive in the bog.
>>96069412Deathshroud are just normal tartaros with scythes and eternal warrior 1, Typhus is decent from what I remember but I can't quote anything regarding his stats. For prime units they get eternal warrior 2 and an extra unit, so I'm entertaining putting that on deathshroud/breachers

>>96069495> DozensLmaaaooooooooooooooooooo
>>96069488They're still Marines. Generic units are really good this edition. Getting stomped is not going to be due to a paint scheme like 2.0.
>>96069499I also noticed many of the very long range guns (i.e. over 48 inches like snipers and conversions beamers) have had their range slashed down.
GW definitely wants 30k to be short games on small boards like 40k, and they can fuck right off.
>>96069488I play lots of games, just not HH. I seem to remember this thread was really hostile towards non-Astartes players though; people were saying that Aux and Mech players should be satisfied with getting shitstomped by marine players since that's what the game's supposed to be about.
>>96069497Makes sense. Scrub mentality. These are the people who crybabied their way away from tournament 40k, after all.
>>96069458>loyalty is its own rewardAnd how is that working out for the loyal consumer-base and fan-base of the Horus Heresy game?
>>96069503true but people enjoy using the special units. Some of the legion specific units are looking pretty terrible. Especially phoenix guard (again)
>>96069538>everyone on hhg is the samedid you get molested by a HH player? Why are you even here
>>96069499yeah, 4 turn games on a tiny board with 90% of units in the game made identical. They've turned Horus Heresy into Spearhead Demo Mode. Not a real wargame.
>>96069503anon, the best marine units last edition were generic ones
>>96069557The HH players at my LGS said that everyone using the same units was what made the game good, and looked down on non-Astartes players.
>>96069472WS always have some sleeper hits, because adding +2" to everything that isn't a vehicle is super strong in some cases
Golden Keshig don't seem bad either
>>96069550Unironically, anyone who built the 2.0 starter box stock, bought the resinslop characters, and never converted is totally unscathed. It is only us hobbyist wretches, blinded by hubris, whomst've been hoisted by our power-armoured petards.
>>96069530At least the standard boards are still 6'x4'.
If I wanted this level of abstraction and weapon-saminess, I'd just play Legions Imperialis, it's a better system.

>>96069590https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcWLMkFmxck
>>96069591I do play Titanicus, that game is fun. I also play Legions Imperialis.
>>96069571if you built the AoD box as it comes your army is 110% worthless in Saturnine, faggot.
Generic cataphr terminators eat dick with no move, no deepstrike charge, joke shooting, WS4 helpless in melee, a pitiful 2 attacks instead of 3-5 of named terminators, bad every single place. Spartan is horrible for 400 points and only a 50% chance to escape one of 3 status per turn (so 50% your immobilize sticks and he's got 1000 points sitting there unmoving)
The generic hero from the starter box is bad. Wooh powerswords that do nothing or a 2h power axe that is worthless as he strikes last and is instantly massacred by named characters like Kharn.
Dreadnoughts now die in one shot and aren't worth fielding.
The 40 plain tactical marines that didnt come with upgrades are fine to go stand on a circle - but starter boxfags have no different access to basic troopers than everyone else.
Casuals without 3d printers lose harder than anyone in HH3.
>>96069591if I wanted a better system I wouldnt play a gw game
>>96069620Enlighten us, Anon. What should we play?
>>96069568notice you haven't actually been able to point out a single case where it's "super strong"
White scars get 2" extra movement when it doesnt matter at all.
Death Guard get 4" extra movement when it allows them to move from 100% out of line of sight invincible to see the enemy and shoot weapons as if stationary. And they ignore being slowed down by difficult terrain, which massively slows white scars unless Jaghatai is holding the baby's hands for them.

Good news boys, HH3 is a massive flop. 15 minutes after launch, the biggest US webshop went from 40 saturnines to 29 and it's not really moving any more.

it's a mystery why people aren't paying $110 to get no-customization-space-marines.
> HH bros ... did James fly too close to the sun?
It's simple, really: The Horus Heresy must die.
>>96069796they sold 1 single more box in the last 15 minutes on a top3 US webstore, GW executives writing 3 more cope articles to post about how they didnt entirely change and ruin the game and invalidate all your models
>>96069796>$4.20 of plastic>$5.80 of dead tree and ink>+20% tariff It can go lower.
I don't understand why they insisted on mimicking the modern 40k style of unit options. There's so much empty space on the page anyway, so why not just list out the available wargear instead of the nonsense they have?
>>96069826this box is even lower demand than skaventide by a wide margin from watching both online launches. And I got skaventide for $169 like 2 or 3 months later since stores couldn't get rid of them. Saturnine box will eventually drop to $170 easy.
>>96069833We all owe Leaker-kun a lot of money saved
>>96069828the really odd thing is HH3 units have nearly zero special rules on average, but then they don't even list the wargear options, just "buy some sergeant wargear, buy one heavy weapon, no we won't list any weapon stats"
So much empty page for a melee squad that could've been filled with the common weapons.
>>96069833BlackFridayChad . . . I KNEEL!
>>96069841Pardo got fucked so that we may save. Praise Fuck Pardo!
>>96069743Which shop is that? Wargame Portal?
>>96069828That's what I don't get. I really don't understand what the objective was with the new formatting. It's not like the units have SO MANY options that they need too save space, and they don't even put multiple units on one page to take advantage of all the space they saved anyways. Just so baffling. Were they really expecting people to soiface over the return of wargear lists from really old editions that hard?
>>96069867>look at all these lists!!>no, you can't use them
>>96069843Exactly. Everything about the writing and formatting is so poorly optimized. Why would you ever think pic related has better coherency or legibility than
>>96069828?
>>96069877Well, GW pays peanuts so it's not like they're hiring the best and brightest.
>>96069843I feel like the libers are probably indicative of what happened behind the scenes.
The rules writers likely wanted it to be options as is, plus return to 4th ed and earlier era of war gear section. But then the suits told them no model, no rules, and so everything had to get fucked hard.
The war gear section just makes no sense unless it was actually widely used at some point in development.
>>96069796>15% discount >on first pre-order dayWe did it!
>>96069796That's standard MAP pricing. It's not a limited release so of course it's going to be discounted. On launch boxes like this GW will gladly sell 200+ of them to a store, so online shops are going to race to the bottom and go for quantity.
And before you scream cope and still 3.0 looks like shit, I'm sticking with 2.0 and trying to convince the group to play 1.0.
>>96069888This seems plausible. I'd love to talk to one of the rules writers for this edition and hear what they had to say in terms of what their original vision for this edition was and if it was compromised by GW corporate or not. Definitely feels like GW trying to fuck with people who 3d print extra bits.
>>96069867So you have to flip to the back of the book and wear the binding out faster.
I honestly hope 3e is good because I am not fucking going back to the dumpster fire that is 2e for an indefinite amount of time
How many of the starter boxes is too much? I just ordered 3 and I think thats still not enough for a whole army
>>96069895since it's 2 weeks before preorders even ship, wait 2 weeks for the live release and it'll probably be at least 20-30% discounted. The websites have sold less copies than one Space Wolves box for the entirety of the planet and horus heresy. Hundreds of these boxes are wasting corners of hobby shops unable to be sold because no one wants them soon.
>>96069796> that tfw when nobody sees 30k boxes selected
>>96069888Maybe it's just me, but I feel like the writing style of 3.0 rules is highly reminiscent of current 40k rule writing styles. It's the unnecessary wordiness of it all, like it's trying to prevent tournament rules lawyering.

>>96069930>play the superior 10th editionThat's a funny way to say 2nd edition
>>96069927>120 tacticals Isnโt that the base line amount of tacticals someone should have?
I do think it's kind of funny that Sanguinary Guard are once again missing from the Blood Angels roster, right after finally getting them as an Exemplary Unit.
That said, has there been any word on the fate of Exemplary Units? Are they showing up as legends units or are they being removed from the game entirely?
>>96069916it's not difficult to parse the words but HH3.0 takes four sentences to say one sentence worth of words. (And it repeats itself so 50% of this edition is literal garbage)
Fulgrim Transfigured must have a Challenge declared for him and may use the Heroic Intervention Reaction without expending a Reaction Point.
In the Controlling Player's Challenge Sub-Phase, if a Model with this Special Rule is eligible to have a Challenge declared for it, the Controlling Player must do so. In addition, if the Controlling Player of a Model with this Special Rule declares they will use the Heroic Intervention Advanced Reaction, and selects a Model with this Special Rule, they are not required to spend any points from their Reaction Allotment to do so."
That is 94 (NINETY FOUR) words used on a single simple rule when 13 words could say "Fulgrim must declare eligible challenges. He can heroically intervene without spending a point."
Using any of HH3 books is Physically Tiring, as they use 500-700% more written words than are actually needed everywhere.

>>96069965Truth. Non-terrain buildings, stationary emplacements and aircraft flyers are the 3 categories absolutely forbidden in starter boxes.
If you give them competitive stats, you've heavily altered the game centering it on non-interactive flyers or bland boring stationary buildings/turrets. If they give them non-competitive stats, now they devalue the box while also lowering the game balance as whichever 'friend' is given the turret or building or CSM airplane just loses most games in an unfun imbalanced manner.
>>96069962Honestly they should hire an English major or something. Can't be worse than whatever they're writing now.

>>96069972That's probably an order for a shop.
>>96069948>>96069957>>96069962Mfw even if I wanted to play 3e, I'd need to rewrite all the rules to be 5% of the word count and actually be clear, quick and easy to both read and understand.
If tourney losers or whoever this is intended for have a problem, they should release some legalese handbook as a separate release that does into autistic detail of every possible thing.
>>96069981they just need to do what every other company on the planet does. A card for Magic the Gathering or any other popular card game, the text will say like 10-20 words, and if there's rare interpretations and rule interactions to think of, an entirely separate website has discussions about each and every card and what the official rulings for tourneylosers very very obscure daydreams about the card mean.
For your average customer (99% of players) they almost never have to read that website, maybe for a few seconds for the 2 or 3 most complicated cards in their 60 card deck, at most and only for a few seconds.
>>96069982Too optimistic?
>>96070004That would require a level of modernization that GW is, for some reason, extremely reluctant to embrace. They can barely figure out how to update their own app, let alone run an online forum for discussion.
>>96069972in some people's case, it's because the nearest 3 stores ended their relationship with games workshop and dumped the entire store's GW products for a 50% off event (the limit on 15% discounts maximum only applies to people who willingly want to sell GW product in the future)
It's hard to say no to $40 startcollecting/vanguard box with like 150-200 of minis inside or a $100 battleforce box. I know someone would buy a NIB battleforce off me for at least 130 or more if I ever decided to sell.

>>96069954they look a lot like they did in 2.0, except now all the weapons are more dogshit, and there are less synergies. all the jet bike weapons are just worse, for example, but they still cost the same and they can't even shoot their pistols anymore. outriders got a glow up and are decent, but even with all the cool wargear options you still can only shoot a single weapon
no characters on bikes is the killer though, and even if you could get them, most of the characters don't give any buffs, so why would you? like golden kheshig are pretty solid, but without re-rolling those lances you're not getting enough in a unit to matter unless you're spamming them

>>96070014it's funny because there were databases for even obscure small-playerbase games like A Game of Thrones 2nd edition. GW is a 50 year old company that still hasn't even caught up to basic 1990s software.
>>96070032good point, they want to be able to say "look how heavy this is, look how many sprues there are, look how many pixels of the screen is covered by models" while simultaneously giving players as little actual VALUE as humanly possible so they'll have to buy as many things outside the box as possible.
>>96070040preorders went live at 9pm on west coast 12pm on east. Nobody had any trouble staying awake for any the already announced preorders from GW in the last 10 years, it's just nobody wants to pay 268 for trashurnine in dead edition.

>>96070056Corrupted is actually still around, it's just for all traitors, that's what True Believers is. Instead, the Word Bearers Apex basically gives you two "free" troops with true believers (corrupted) on top of the one troop and one command you can give it to in the primary detachment
>>96070071GW's attitude to all non-40k games is "if we release it and they buy paper books every few months, we get fucking rich, fuck em. If they get mad and quit, they'll probably buy a new 40k army instead of leaving this abusive relationship, fuck em all! bring my champagne bottle!"

You will never be a real game designer macca. You have no talent, you have no IP, you have no panache. You are a fat man twisted by bitterness and nostalgia into a crude mockery of Alan Bligh.
All the โvalidationโ you get is two-faced and half-hearted. Behind your back people mock you. Your discord members are disgusted and ashamed of you, your โfriendsโ laugh at your ghoulish appearance behind closed doors.
Hobbyists are utterly repulsed by you. Thousands of years of evolution have allowed men to sniff out frauds with incredible efficiency. Even your legion rules who โpassโ look uncanny and unnatural to a man. Your bias is a dead giveaway. And even if you manage to get a drunk guy to try your homebrew, heโll turn tail and bolt the second he gets a look at your WS chart.
You will never be happy. You wrench out a fake smile every single morning and tell yourself itโs going to be ok, but deep inside you feel the depression creeping up like a weed, ready to crush you under the unbearable weight.
Eventually itโll be too much to bear - youโll buy a rope, tie a noose, put it around your neck, and plunge into the cold abyss. Your discord members will find you, heartbroken but relieved that they no longer have to live with the unbearable shame and disappointment. Theyโll bury you with a headstone marked with your birth name, and every passerby for the rest of eternity will know a no games faggot is buried there. Your body will decay and go back to the dust, and all that will remain of your legacy is a skeleton that is unmistakably gay.
This is your fate. This is what you chose. There is no turning back.
>>96070544I will buy it just to spite you. I've seen your models, they're disgusting. You should leave the hobby and collect dragon dildos.

>>96070598He is the world's most renowned connoisseur of anglo bum. The true king of Manchester.
You know, despite how much I was hitting on them, 10 plasma TSS for 180 isn't actually too bad - against tacticals they do the same damage as a 20 man squad furying, against Terminators they do 50% more than 20 furying tacs and 25% less than 8 melta TSS (but at double the range of the latter), and against AV13 can drop a glance and a status, or just a glance vs av13. That's not bad for less than 20 tacs.
>>96069439>So are EC dead in the water?stubborn, inexorable, fearless, gone
You still strike first, and they die first; then they run (way more likely to happen now against elites).
With +1i spears, you strike first in a disordered charge out of rhino.
Shriekers disable reactions on a charge; kakophoni disable reactions on hit (stun).
Palatines are still in 2+ with new +1S AP3 breaching 5+ weapons with Vanguard (3). With many models losing access to AP2 weapons to fight them, Palatines can become a menace, imo.
Phoenixes are nerfed hard but still cost 200 with spears; spears are D2 on a charge. With WS6 they can potentially wreck big WS5 2w units in 3+.
Eidolons TH was nerfed, but he got one more wound (yes, 4 wounds) and one more attack on a charge (still faster than other THs on a charge).
Lucius is still a good duelist (+5 to focus roll with EC gambit and his blade), but his -S AP2 D2 blade might struggle against T5. (no more rending or fleshbane). So picking the finishing blow gambit might not be the worst idea for him.
Fulgrim got an AP2 D2 weapon. Terminators, beware!
Hereticus is kind of better than it used to be. Stupify removes and prevents statuses (i.e., you aren't attacking at i1) and gives small FnP 6+ (no more FnP from apothecaries, remember?) and +1S. No longer makes you charges disordered. Might be really good against shooters that apply statuses.
EC aren't dead; bet they lost some good stuff like -1 to hit from old shriekers, charging with +1i in a disordered charge, Eidolon's hammer, fluffy 3rd company elite sonic lance blobs, etc. Many other legions lost good stuff as well.

>>96070644yeah, range is gonna be important for most of the meta armies in 3E. RG, AL, IH snipefests. Ultramarines getting to overwatch with 2 different squads against 1 enemy is much more doable with stuff like 10 plasmas than 10 meltas. The better comparison of in-role might be 10 plasmas vs a maxed heavy disintegrator veteran squad. That one also has 24" reach and it has AP2, haven't compared the average damages.
The meltas have their place (as a pure counter to a primarch landraider deathstar) but don't reach far enough for their cost for nearly anything else.

Where the fuck is the synergy in the list building? The legion trait is not a force multiplier in any sense. The aux detachments do NOTHING. I've started looking at veteran assault squads but even then only the Sgt can take a legion sword, and the others are essentially fucking mooks compared to the exact same unit from any other legion. I'm trying to make it work but there's fucking nothing left to work with. We get a bonus for using swords in duels? Great. Once per game my generic praetor with obligatory Terranic Greatsword might make use of that "Rite of War"

>The heaviest and by far the most technologically refined of the various classes of Tactical Dreadnought Armour utilised by the Imperium, Saturnine Siege-Terminator armour entered service in its original form in the closing days of the Unification Wars, before even, so it is said, the union between Terra and Mars. Its origins remain shrouded in mystery, with some claiming it to be the fruit of an ancient Martian sub-sect banished by the Lords of Mars to the ninth moon of Saturn during the Age of Strife. Certainly, this moon remains forbidden to all but the highest ranked of the Imperial Household and has been linked not only to Saturnine armour, but to a range of other technological marvels not normally associated with the forges of the Red Planet.
>Refined and improved versions of Saturnine armour saw service during the earliest days of the Great Crusade, equipping the finest warriors of the nascent Legions. As the Legions expanded in size, however, demand very quickly outstripped demand and it was superseded by other patterns of Terminator armour, first Cataphractii, then Tartaros, patterns that could be manufactured an order of magnitude greater than was possible with Saturnine.
>And so, as the Great Crusade ground ever outwards from Terra, Saturnine armour receded into dim and distant memory. Like the twenty Terra โgrey legionsโ and the Thunder Warrior Legions that preceded them, it became a relic of a former age, not forgotten by any means, but not of the new order the Imperium was building.
>But one individual refused to consign the mark to history. Vulkan, Primarch of the XVIIIแตสฐ Legion, the master artificer and craftsman, sought to unlock the secrets of this most potent of marks so as to be able to produce it in Legion forges, and in such numbers that it would reclaim its rightful place in the armouries of the Imperium.
>>96071364>And so it was that even as the Warmaster's heart was turned to treachery, Vulkan finally attained his goal. ever noble and generous of spirit, the Primarch of the Salamanders gifted his brothers with the fruits of his labour, disseminating to each of them the secrets of manufacturing his masterwork in Legion forges. Even as the Warmaster's treachery was revealed at Isstvan III, ever Legion received Vulkan's gift, and so by the very eve of the Isstvan V massacre, this most powerful of weapons was already in the hands of the Traitors.>It must stand as but one tragedy amongst countless others that the first occasion on which Vulkan's endowment went to war was at Isstvan V, where a small cade of the Primarch's elite was equipped with those few suits that were ready in time to join the Retribution fleet. Though it would take several years to fully disseminate and gain acceptance within the Legions, by the middle of the Age of Darkness every one of the Legiones Astartes, whether loyal to the Emperor or his turncoat son, would field this armour, brother shedding the blood of brother on battlefields as far apart as Terra and Ultramar.
>>96071367>Saturnine armour incorporated the Saturnine Aquila proudly upon its breastplate, linking the Saturnine tech-enclaves to the Imperium.>Teleport synchronisers set into the broad pauldrons of Saturnine pattern plate link to the teleportation transponders carried by senior officers, enabling those wearing this plate to be teleported to the battlefield.>Having witnessed first-hand at Isstvan V the sheer power of Saturnine Siege-Terminator armour Perturabo, Primarch of the IVแตสฐ Legion, was quick to adopt it into his own ranks. By the height of the Siege of Inwit in 012.M31, the Iron Warriors were able to field an entire heavy assault company equipped with the pattern, and many of these warriors participated in some of the most bitter engagements of the Siege of Terra, where they fought at Lion's Gate, Gorgon Bar and, appropriately, the Saturnine Wall.

>>96071444They will be the strongest army
>>96071445It's a service problem. If I think about the bits I've printed over the past few years:
- Some customised legion torsos
- One-handed guns
- alternate lightning claws for terminators (something they do provide, but the bodies I stick 'em on mean I buy the same kit either way)
- sheathed chainswords (a while before the melee weapons kit finally dropped)
- Old-style beakie heads
- some old-style indomitous bits.
Most of that I would much prefer to buy from GW, but they either intentionally stopped selling it or have redesigned it to the point where I have no interest. fucking up the game won't force me to buy nu-slop, it'll just mean they don't get my money for new rulebooks.

Goonhammer just started posting about the new edition and the Libers within.
We've already seen almost all of the legiones rules at this point but if you play other armies you can get some crumbs there. Auxilia apparently have a gambit that let's them shoot their pistol instead of using a melee weapon and the Basilisk is still completely useless.
The mechanicum are playing with a bunch of different subfactions at the same time so the army plays like some abomination made out of allied detachments. Each subfaction has their own buffs you need to independently track.
Also automata are completely immune to statuses and never rout apparently.

>>96071587Its not entirely a matter of willingness. The energy grid of Nottinghamshire cannot supply GWs ambitions for expansion because England is a 3rd world country where the guys who run the power plants and the guys who run the power lines are completely different people.
People who still run the same ancient infrastructure they bought off of Maggy and who haven't needed to manage supplying industry ever.
GW would have to pay out of pocket to upgrade existing infrastructure, build and operate their own powerplant or outsource production somewhere else.
And they refuse to outsource any more of their production.
>>96071572Saturnine Terminators +Praetor + Dreadnought is about 1000. 20 tactical adds about 200-300 depending on how many upgrades you give them. Centurion probably about 100 depending on wargear, Veteran squads probably a couple hundred each (again, depending on wargear).

There are caveats like new kits forthcoming, keeping store special models legal, got lucky, etc. But 98%+ will be 1:1 with an SKU. Journals are another exception as they aren't an army book. Same with PDFs.
>>96072494Depends on the weapons, it's very easy to get a unit rolling on ld5 or Cl5 for night lords, since the heavier status weapons can get -3 modifiers and get fear stacked on top, so even units with cl9 start getting spooked
>>96072479Grav guns are good for applying status effects. Worth considering.
>>96072494Not trivial, theres no telepathy librarian from 2.0 to just point at something and pin it. But eminently doable. You have a very solid chance of getting it off.
Phospex is panic(3) also, you can make a primarch like the lion test against cool(6).

>>96072591You don't have to abuse the obvious nonsense like sticking ward saves onto dragons in Old World to get annoyed by its systems.
Even a complete newbie to mini gaming as a whole would instantly notice:
"huh, my infantry fucking suck... They constantly lose combat to cavalry and monsters..."
When blocks of infantry aren't worth taking in a rank and flank game, the game system is bad on a fundamental level. It's the sort of thing you don't even need to playtest to see, just a cursory look at the average combat results if two units interact would show you the scales are tilted too far away from infantry.
I don't know what happened to the specialist games team. Old world straight into HH 3.0 is two massive misses in a row.
>>96070653>Lucius is still a good duelistHe looks very overpriced for what he does tbqh.
>>96071293It's definitely a kick in the nuts to go from a super fluffy legion trait that you could build around to effectively not having one. I think the rest of the DA rules are quite good and the army is being pushed to be melee focused and heavy on Cenobium and DWC - one squad with Master Sarge and one squad with the Paladin upgrade - plus one of our unique characters.
However, if that's not your cup of tea or if you don't have the models for it, it's definitely rough. Hopefully DA gets well balanced legacy units this time to open up some options as the legion's identify has been tanked so far.
>>96072610The are not in the board normally. They come in on your turn to do one of 4 things. Deploy a unit, pickup a unit, shoot with some weapon or shoot with all weapons. You can only shoot defensive snapshots when leaving or picking up passengers iirc

>>96072653>good*I just woke up forgive me.
>>96072618>"huh, my infantry fucking suck... They constantly lose combat to cavalry and monsters..."Mine never did. But again, Dwarf player. My mine bugbear with ToW was how hard a time Dwarfs had at actually shutting down spellcasters. Which, with a bit of luck, they might actually have fixed now.
There was also a very weird rule interaction where you sometimes just wanted to take the charge as a massive line of infantry and get all your attacks, which also just got FAQ'd.
I feel like... as ideosyncratic as it was, it was still one of the most complex rulesets GW have put out in a while. Like, I wasn't expecting to be perfect because GW just doesn't have capable enough ruleswriters to get something as ambitious as what they were trying to do any more. They've all left and now work across the street from them at Warlord (poor bastards). So, that when what we got was ALMOST as decent as it was, it was a surprise to me.
>>96072537Its a shame xiphons always count as moving so they dont benefit from the heavy on the lascannons. But thats still a lot of Ap2 high S being put out for very cheap.
>>96072672I still find it incredible that Warlord games have a shoestring budget yet manage to have such a better website than GW. It honestly amazes me how GW can have such a shit portal for selling their products.
>>96072591>>96072618Friend of mine found an exploit involving skirmishing ungors, a shaman, a banner of poison, shadowhide talisman, and the Mystic Paths spell. Teleporting skirmishers jump around your flank like modern special forces, pepper you with poison arrows, the shaman viletides you, and might also ruby ring of ruin you. You turn to respond, they jump off again. Shooting is at atleast a -2 to hit them, assuming he actually dropped in front of and in short range of your shooters (he wont), charging is suicide as you eat 20 poisoned arrows. Your only hope is to out magic them, and good luck with that.
He knows the head writer and spoke with him. Apparently its all, raw, legal.

Pic for attention.
>>96072653Honestly desu I'm not convinced, marine flyers have 15-20" move and can only come on from your board edge, the deployment zones are 24x18, 24, or 12" long, so on 2/3 of them you can't even get out of your deployment zone. I think the only one that might be hood is the fire raptor, but even then it's main draw is the AP3 suppressive (2) fire but gravis heavy bolters rapiers are dirt cheap, 4 to a slot, and have suppressive (2) as well with way more shots per point
>>96072699I bring exactly 1 cannon in the game. Everything else is pure Ironbreaker, Longbeards and Slayers baby. I don't even bring Gyrocopters because I hate the new model on account of the fact that I have eyes.

>>96072618>abuse nonsense>ward saves on dragonsAre you retarded? "oh no, the 500pts model has a save"
>"huh, my infantry fucking suck... They constantly lose combat to cavalry and monsters...""my tactical marines lose gunfights to HSS, this edition is fucking shi!
Infantry is priced at somewhere between 6 and 15ppm on average. Heavy cavalry starts at 20ppm on the very low end. A 20 man infantry unit is often worth a FRACTION of what a monster it is fighting will cost.
Infantry is still good, especially now, but it will not and should not invalidate units many times its cost. Infantry is there to hold the line and die in a cost effective manner, to allow you to set up charges with other units or to keep an enemy busy while your forces are occupied somewhere else (and now to hold objectives).
If you want infantry to be 8th ed good, go play 8th ed, the systems fine and you can still find games for it. But infantry not dominating isnt a problem.
>>96072707The corner ones are tricky if the center matters, but the others are fine. 30k cares more about no mans land than your opponents zone. Being able to assault out of the Eagle is balanced by not being able to drop off behind enemy lines. It also has a lot of defensive weapons it can shoot when it does. They aren't 1.0 power levels thankfully, but they're good.
>>96072726Do it yourself you lazy bum
>>96072494Theres a decent number of accessible status effect units. Havoc launchers have stun now for example.
Nemesis bolters, grav weapons, flamers, lots of stuff has some status effect associated (and just dealing 25% losses can also trigger a check).
As for how likely those tests are to succeed? Depends against what. Its still hard to make librarians run away, but stubborn and fearless are gone so theres very few immune units. Just gotta roll those dice, not like most models (even elite ones) have THAT high a cool stat.

He means that monster characters have unified profiles now, so sticking a 5+ ward saves amulet on your dragon rider, gives the whole dragon a 5+ wards save.
A 5+ ward save on a T3 W3 elf shitter isn't worth much, so the item is cheap. But it costs the same when you take it on a T "fuck you" W "enough" dragon.

The actual reason they do it is GW are, despite Kirby's departure from leading the company, still utterly, completely, batshit crazy fucking wonko. They believe themselves a "luxury brand" like Louis Vuitton or Lamborghini, and so cannot be seen to be giving discounts on their own product or else people might start to believe it hasn't been shat in fully-formed solid gold perfection from the arsehole of an angel or whatever. So they order GW stores to destroy collectively hundreds of thousands worth of product every year rather than deal with shipping it back to HQ to warehouse. >>96071503>Building this unit>Visually identical to Tactical MarinesThanks for the tips, James.
>>96073085>still S8with 2 damagevery nice
>punisher cannon on the sicaran has its shots halved unless it sits stillfuck GW, this is just the edition of everything sitting still so its not shit while basic marines do all the objective work
>>96073085What does rapid tracking do?
>>96073099I painted up a squad of rotor cannon dudes with chainaxes strapped to their backs. I thought it'd be cool for zm paired up with a squad of despoilers. Fuck me I guess.
>>96073113Deny shrouded saves would be my guess.
>>96073114Yeah no thats fucking tragic.
>>96073114Don't worry, the Journal Tactica will save us with Veteran Tactical Support Squads
>>96073114Guess those are just the basic close combat weapon now that every unit gets standard.
>>96071538>Apothecaries can no longer have combi-weaponsWelp, saves me a detachment!
>>96071538For 30 points you can bet I'll take that 4+ old school FnP, even if it costs a reaction.
>>96073089>They forgot to close the parenthesis after the axe entryI'm sure this is also a deliverate choice related to a new kit we haven't seen yet
Great, thanks.
How about the Sicarian and Venator?
>>96071658"yes"
Consider it this way: you are spending a unit slot and 30pts to give a unit FNP(4+) as a reaction.
Except its not quite that, FNP, as far as I understand, still entirely negates damage (so you roll once for a lascannon, if you pass it does nothing). Medic would reduce its damage by 1, so it negates damage 1 things (small arms fire, for example), but will not save you when you get hit with a melta or whatever.
It still has its place potentially, it might allow you to protect a key unit or whatever. But its nowhere near as good as before.
any baking, image reached, if not I can
>>96073206With tactical squads now doing the full 60 shots Fury of the Legion at 24" this will definitely have a place.
It can also keep models alive when shot by lascannons that moved, which is hilarious.
>>96073208Make the image OP epic and lolworthy
>>96073206>spending a unit slot and 30pts to give a unit FNP(4+) as a reaction.Maybe you two are. I'm spending a unit slot and 30pts to give my squads access to more power fists. Anything else that coincidentally happens is just a cherry on top of more punching.
>>96073208Pls thread picture Pepe Lorgar Calth
>>96073095That sounds pretty good
>>96073225Potentially. But remember that it takes a full slot to do that, and has diminishing returns (you might have 6 apothecaries from the detachment sprinkled across your army, but youre still capped at like 3 reactions max)
Apothecaries will have their place, but they wont be the borderline no thought choice they were in 2.0, where you just see if you have a slot left, and if yes stick one in every squad you can because its like a 33% reduction in damage from small arms fire for 35pts
>>96073246The shrouded even lasts until the end of the shooting phase from what I've heard. Not just against the shooting attack the reaction is being used against.
Do we have Reconnaissance Squad or Sabres?
>>96072637Fucking hell I just found the paladin entry and I'm furious
>>96073089lets figure it out by together!
Tartaros is 150
these guys are 200
for 50 point we are getting:
>+1 attack on 4 models >one TH for sergeant>power axes with Shred 5+ (instead of power weapons)>free grenade harness>1 less CL but 2 more WP on non-sergeants (Not sure if +1 cool from heavy counted here)>1 more IN on a sergeant>5+ FnP>enemy Volley has a chance to trigger Cool Check from Invul Save and trigger Supressed (which is a status and can reduce enemie's i to 1 and its charge do disordered one)>In return Gorgons are heavy and lack at initiative AP3 weapons and can use ranged weapons. Is it worth 50 points? I guess
>>96073252>3 reactions>6 powerfists>12 attacksI'm cool with this.
>>96073274>can't use ranged weapons*
>>96073285That's Ferrus' neck stump.
Anyone happen to know what Aflame (1) is for BA perdition weapons?
>>96071394damn... I'll paint some RG minis bc it's still my favorite legion, but I think I'll stay on the imperial knights
Is there any leaks or news for the solar auxilia ?
>>96072457They want the libers to be shit you can actually buy which is why the hqโs feel gutted and why people bitching about loadouts on non legion specific units are silly
