>what car are you buying tomorrow after you win tonight's 1.4b powerball?
Not surprisingly, a significant percentage of winners end up dead within five years. Some people want their inheritance early, and a powerball winner has a big enough pile of money to make it worth the effort to try something shady.
Another is that strong arm people will come to you and force you to hand over money. This happened in my state. About two counties north of me, someone won a non-powerball but still substantial 40 million payout. So people came over and invaded the home, forced transfer of a lot of money.
There are services that will help manage your money if you take the lump sum. But the best thing to do if you get a huge lump sum is go to your bank and register for that service (my bank has something similar) that prevents transfer of funds other than those on the list you approve. You pay a fee for the account protection. You are protected because you have to go into the bank to change it, thus you cannot be held prisoner in your home while they wait for transfer to occur.

1. open up an auto museum to the public and hire some people to run it so that you can get cheaper insurance for your collection, make money on it, and have it all serviced/maintained on company dime
2. move within 20 minutes of a mid-tier race track and start with a FWD 4banger and upgrade the car and then replace it with a better car as if you were playing IRL gran turismo

The lottery is getting paid for them just like they would from any other customer, you don't work for a place that sells lottery so there's no conflict of interest or possible insider advantage they could claim

>what car are you buying tomorrow after you win tonight's 1.4b powerball?
A Prius, after I notice people trying to scope out the previous car.
to all the people that say winning the lottery would be awful, it would be pretty easy to make it work.
step 1. find a national law firm and use them to cash the ticket through an LLC
2. figure out a percentage of winnings for family, then set up a trust and divvy out equal amounts for each person and keep a team of attorneys on retainer to help them through their financial and legal hurdles
3. direct all requests for money from anyone to a team that will use a pre-determined metric and a cash pool to figure out how much to give to each person. ie $30 for girl scout cookies $100 to a kid who wants to go to basketball camp $10,000 for cancer research, etc. anyone asks for money, give them a business card with a unique pin so that they can't reuse it for other reasons
4. start a couple businesses and hire on management to run them so there is incoming cash. offer jobs to friends and give them cushy positions such as 'head of quality management for incoming clients' so that they can make some money and things don't get weird
5. write up a contract with a financial team that would give a hard cap on yearly spending so that the well doesn't dry up in 6 months
6. find someone you trust and put them in communication with a team of private investigators to watch your back and your finances.
Then just lay low and don't do anything dumb like drop 20 grand at a strip club or commit crimes with checks and you'll be fine

easiest thing to do when winning the lottery is once you anonymously collect your winnings/paid your taxes, immediately leave the country, change your name, and make it seem as though you've vanished off the face of the earth. then live humbly somewhere else whilst making new friends who have no idea how rich you are. if you don't have children, now is the perfect time to raise them exactly the way you want.
if you love your family, then it might be difficult. for me, there isn't a single person i would miss if i had to just leave and start over.

Why are you investing $100 into the lottery? Are you fucking dumb?
Also a $100 investment in stocks will net you on average $5-10 a year.
Which while more than you'll probably ever make on the lottery, is an insignificant amount for any adult.

Don't buy any more tickets, I already plan to win tomorrow.
My winning ticket has the following numbers:
04 06 11 61 64 13
15 17 35 54 56 04
03 08 25 29 56 26
01 13 41 47 59 09
21 42 48 62 63 20
This should be enough numbers to cover the possible outcomes of how I interact with this reality and its possible divergences.
These normally wouldn't be the winning numbers but because I posted them it affects the people who see this and therefore the outcome of the lottery.

The problem is that winning the jackpot isn't exclusive: If you buy every combination right now you'd still risk some random person also winning and splitting the pot, then you'd be out hundreds of millions.
>>28604425
It's a bit of a prisoner's dilemma. It'd be objectively better for nobody to ever play the lottery, but once it reaches a certain jackpot amount (almost always over 1b) the temptation becomes too great for any mathematically nonzero chance of victory to not play it at all.

Win lottery, immediately pick out a national lawfirm and get a partnered attorney. Doesn't matter how expensive it is, once you mention you've won the lottery. Get a trusts and estates attorney. Pick the lump sum option and always have my attorney with me. Once I have the cash, hide, I'd travel to a bigger city anyways to hire my attorney so I'd go with an nice hotel in the city. work with my attorney to set up a series of trusts for the people I care about (about 12 people in total). Do the legal work to change my name while I'm at it. Use the money to travel around for about a year or so until the name change and change of address (PO box in the city where my attorney is) are in effect and for a majority of the people looking for handouts have fucked off. I'm pretty lucky in this case, I'm a homebody and I don't have too many loose friends, family, acquaintances. I wouldn't be stiffing anyone close to me, my name is pretty common as well so it's not likely that many people will see my name declared a winner and think it's me.
The trusts for my close friends/family will cover anything they'd ever realistically need. They wouldn't -have- to ever work again and could live a very comfortable life. Anything I invite them out for, I'd pay for. Be it just dinner, events, or something like vacation to Paris. If I ever get the inkling that my money changed them, I can just cut them out of my life (they can keep the trust I set up for them) and move on. I've spent a lot of time thinking/dreaming about winning, I have a pretty good idea how to set myself up for life without running the risk of bankruptcy or betrayal death.

If i won the lottery I'm paying off every relative I've seen in the last 15 years, even the ones I don't like/dont fuck with, so that they leave me the fuck alone. For me, thats 25 relatives and friends (I counted households as one person, so say a cousin that is married with two kids count as one person).
I would set up trusts and give every single one of those 25 people/households 500 grand. 12.5 million dollars out of a 400 million dollar payoff is chump change for there to be no drama/resentment my way. Not playing favorites with varying payouts, everyone gets the same check.

My post opens up a door to further discussion. Anon might reply with something about california. Anon might reply with something about the history of lotteries. Anon might reply with the curious historical fact that the california lottery used to be applicable only to californian residents, but has been open to anyone buying from a location within california's borders since 1993.
