How much can one expect to pay for a tune for my full header exhaust replacement? I have seen people talk about vcyclenut but I am in Canada and locally got a price of $700 CAD (500 USD) for a dyno and tune/remap for removing any restrictions on the system and mapping the proper air and fuel for the new exhaust and a hi-flow air filter. Does this seem like a rip off? Never done it before so not sure what to expect to pay.

Finally got my dad a Road King Police at auction. Gonna go pick it up in Columbia MO next week. Probably just ride the bitch back because the station told me it had a service and new tires put on it before it was decommissioned 6 months ago. 80k miles on it so another 450 or so won't matter. It's going to be his retirement/Christmas present. He'll get it around Thanksgiving.
Might need to get a new seat so my mom can ride on the back. Anyone know how to convert those weird springer seats to regular ones? Is it just removing that spring and seat to bolt on a regular one?

I've always wondered, is it really an air screw, or is it a fuel screw?
It has a Mikuni BST33 carburetor (which all the forums seems to hate) but I refuse to just buy a better carb until I conquer tuning the stock carb at least.
>lean the fuck out of the mixture screw so you can at least get it to idle
It idles okay, but it won't idle or even start with choke (no matter how many kicks). It ONLY kickstart with the choke off.
I've got like 10 spark plugs for this thing because it happens to use the same plugs as my GS500 lmao.

The air filter thing might be noteworthy. It's not bad, but it's not clean. Maybe I'll open it up a little and see if it runs different.
It doesn't rev up currently. Or rather, it only revs up a couple thousand RPM, presumably only on the idle/pilot

experience riders will get an r1 (or another brand)

new riders dont want "sissy shit" like an r3 or r6
but they cant actually afford the insurance or upkeep of a bigboy bike
so theyve made some autistic middleground to keep newfags happy, while also placating the insurance companies AND environmental agencies

you'd unironically be better off buying a 636 if you want power
at every powerband and range, its getting mogged by 10 year old KwakTech

I knew they were gonna be shit from the day they announced them
but boy did I NEVER expect it to be THIS bad
r7s are gonna be a coveted for the next few years amongst this autistic niche market demo who demand a yammerhar but are too chickshit(or poor) to get an R1

You have to know what type of offroad, light, steep trails, deep sand, woods, desert? It all matters. If you are any good suspension will really help, but its best if you learn how to do it yourself it can get expensive if you keep paying someone for suspension service. with practice and setup you can rip a big heavy bike to do a lot, let bike do the workhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPLJn3IygAg

>Peak power at WOT at 10,000rpm is the only measure engine metric.
Don't forget this was an engine designed for a street naked. Peak hp is largely dictated by how much air the engine can swallow and exhale in a given unit of time and how hard it compresses air fuel mixture. Being a 12v engine it'll always be at a disadvantage to a 16v unit of the same cc. But at every rpm below peak power and the R9 will be pulling harder. Just compare the cb650 and mt07 here and it's the same story.
Still. I didn't like yam's triple when I rode it for lacking any character.
All things considered I don't think cc to cc comparisons are as good as weight lbs & purchase price. This is where Suzuki's 1000cc gsxs1000 steamrolls the 900cc naked class

KLX suspension is better and it's a more lively feeling bike, which is surprising. The klx300 suspension is currently the exact same as the klx300r, which is a true trail bike, though it's obviously tuned differently. There's a handful of other differences between the 300 and 300r, but the 300 (street legal version) is still superior to the crf300l for offroad use.

I personally got the 300r because I can legally ride OHVs anywhere that isn't a highway in my county, and the cops don't care as long as you aren't speeding. They understand you don't have a speedometer so they just expect you to be respectful and try to come close to speed limits, as well as follow traffic flow.
>>28602886
I know there's a massive difference here, but I actually find the klx300r easier to ride than smaller bikes in harsh offroad terrain now that I've ridden it so much. I used to want a lower sitting bike, but the real dirt bike gearing and grippy offroad tires make it handle much better, for me, than any smaller or easier to handle dual sport where it matters. This is mostly relevant for like "mild" hill climbs and steep ledges where I'm more than happy sending my 300r, but I back off or dump a klx140rl or xt250.

It would be really difficult to nail you under this law. The defense in 3503(c) is pretty easy to argue, and the charges listed in a, b1, and b3 obviously don’t apply. It’s not clear the b2 charges apply, and the knowing requirement is always a difficult burden for a prosecutor. Probably just wanted to scare you into not doing it again.
Although if you DID do it again, now the knowing requirement is pretty easy to prove.

You have to come out of babylon and egypt, the vatican and catholicism are a false christianity; look at every depiction of their dead Jesus inside a church, He is wrongfully pierced through the palms and as dying in every single one
He was pierced through the wrist bones, lest you break one of His bones and violate the prophecy, and He is the God of the Living
You will see the Scars, come the day of
And be of good cheer, He overcame the world; the euphrates river is drying, its happening in our lifetimes

Bike bros, Ive been riding a honda 250 for the past 4 months and Ive already started thinking about my next bike. And from all the reading Ive done and listening to the guys I sometimes ride with, an SV650 from 2003-2008 would probably be my choice. Torque and pick up and go to make hills a breeze at 65mph, and able to haul camping supplies on the back or a girl as well. It just looks good as well.

I know I should wait, and I plan to not even begin looking at listings until january. But I cant stop thinking about it. Is there anything about it that I should be aware of or wary, especially when buying or first learning? Or am I being a neurotic schiziod and should just send it?

Your thoughts, anons?

Unlike the healthy cyclist, a person with the motorcycle syndrome literally needs his machine; without it, he has a sense of “something missing” and an “acute awareness of inadequacy.” As one patient told Nicholi: “If I got rid of the bike, there would be nothing but me, and that’s not enough.”
Occasionally Nicholi’s patients were promiscuous, but without pleasure; often they were impotent; always they worried about discovering that they were homosexuals. All the patients saw their cycles as extensions of their masculine selves. Said one: “The noise is all you hear. It’s masculine and makes me feel strong. I approach a girl on a cycle and I feel confident.”
Without their bikes, the students also lacked confidence socially and academically. Passive, apathetic and inactive, the afflicted students spent their non-cycling hours sleeping, talking aimlessly, drinking beer, or escaping reality in TV and drugs. When anxiety threatened to overwhelm them—often in the middle of the night—they took to their cycles for the illusion of “doing something and getting somewhere.”
All these symptoms are explained, Psychiatrist Nicholi believes, by the patients’ “tenuous masculine identification,” often caused by difficult childhood relationships with demanding, critical and successful fathers

If you don't enjoy your 250, you won't enjoy a 650 either.
Never buy a bike without ABS.
If the chain's fucked (or new) the rest of the bike hasn't been maintained either.
Tyres (and helmets) have a shelf life.
ADVs (eg V-Strom 650) are the endgame.

>The act of lifting the front wheel, called “riding a wheelie”, conveys the paradoxical nature of the cyclist’s relationship with his machine. In one sense the vertically erect motorcycle represents a surrogate erection, displayed to attract female attention and show dominance to other males. Yet the verb, “to ride” a wheelie, also suggests an awareness of the passive nature of the rider - it is the machine that is erect, not the rider.
But seriously, that’s an interesting theory. I believe his patients were Harvard students seeking psychological counseling, so I would guess a lot of it is due to their having self-selected. Being a “college boy” at that time, when many were in the shit in ‘nam, may be a factor as well.
I sometimes worry I spend too much time thinking about bieks, though.

>Abstract
The author presents findings of an in-depth study of nine accident-prone motorcyclists and outlines a previously undescribed syndrome in an attempt to elucidate the psychological causes of the rapidly rising rate of motorcycle accidents and deaths. Examining the reasons why the motorcycle is particularly dangerous to these patients, the author explores the specific ego defect common to them, their adaptive and defensive use of the cycle, the cycle's symbolic meaning, and the unconscious conflicts it reactivates. He also suggests that this syndrome gives clues to understanding accident-prone drivers of other motor vehicles.
>Your thoughts, anons?
Sounds like bullshit. He published in 1970 and it's not in the DSM5 and wasn't in the DSMIV so we can safely say it wasn't accepted as a real thing by his peers. The author only has one other published work that was similarly frivolous. He spent his teaching career lecturing on Freud and CS Lewis and only got into psychiatry after discovering brain surgery was too hard. His speciality was children and youths, but hisprofessional life was working for sports teams and corporations.
To sum up, he was a professiinal grifter hiding behind his Harvard credentials and adding nothing noteworthy to his field.
My opinion? Both you and he can eat shit.

The greens at a golf course are expensive as hell. To just repair the damage would take more than you make in a year and then some. Then you're denying service to a business, and lost revenue for what the club house facilities take in, and lost revenue for what the caddies make. Add on top of that the fact that everyone in the system coming after you golfs there.
There are much more impactful ways to catch a felony and earn an extravagant financial judgment against you if some kind of social change is what you're after.
