I recently had my vehicle totaled and got a $12k payout. Should I use it as a down payment on a new car and then drive it until it dies or does it make more financial sense to just buy a near-replacement in cash?
My vehicle was a little older and I wished it had a couple more modern features but I was well prepared to drive it into the dirt up until it get driven into the dirt for me.

Average American can cheaply get into any SUV/Truck from before 2018 relative to new vehicles. Finding a good used one is still more expensive than it should be. New isn't terrible if you didn't go high and right with options. SUVs/Trucks are just the swiss knives of vehicles here, lots of highway cruising and the interior space is great.
