This is on my bucket list, I was hoping to do it this year but I can't get anyone to go with me and its probably a pretty stupid thing to do alone. I am wondering if I should just go for it and try to find a group who will let me tag along with them. But I am pretty anti social and Idk how Norwegians would react to a random foreigner begging to tag along with them.

I don't really have the space for a fully kitted out winter set-up, and I don't want to freeze my balls off at night

Does Norway have alpine clubs? Ours around here organize tours on glaciers (and they offer courses for beginners as well)

being coddled by guides seems lame, i'd rather go alone and risk being swallowed by an crevasse then getting cucked by a tour guide.

Option 1) Join a climbing club, once people know you're competent you'll get invited to higher commitment trips (including multi-day glacier)
Option 2) Hire a guide (lol)

I have been to Norway and they will react very badly to that. You will probably die as that landscape does not fuck around.

No. Ice climbing your way out of a crevasse fall is a fantasy. You very likely won't have the space to even swing the tools.

this is depressing guys. is it really retarded to go solo? what if you are extremely careful? i'm going to the alps soon but so many things that i want to do require crossing or traversing glaciers and i will be alone, it's shit

You will probably be fine. Especially if you are a following a boot track up a popular route.

However you may also randomly break through a snow bridge and die.

Because glaciers in general but especially in my area are under enough stress, even without people camping on them, thanks to the high energy lifestyle people.
Also I have little to no business there, what is there? Inhospitable conditions. There's a reason why so many peaks have only first been ascended in modern times: It takes a certain degree of affluence for people to become bored enough to do things that are naturally pointless or detrimental even. People that came before had no time for such nonesense and enough to worry about, even in relatively hospitable conditions at the mountains foot.

lmfao

People camping on glaciers do not affect them in anyway. They are giant moving bodies of ice.

It's suicidal. We have 3 deaths a day, every day in the Italian alps. Get gear, learn to climb, join a club, work your way up, never go alone. All routes have difficulty levels assigned to them. They're accurate and they're there for a reason (you not ending up in a coffin).

if you underdress for cold you just end up getting a bad case of cold i doubt getting annoying cold again and again helps you get better
