The only thing I really bought specially for the trip was the tent, I wanted something with a good mesh option because it is so dry out west, most of the other gear was just stuff I had around,
Tent: NatureHike mongar 2
Sleeping pad: walmart eggshell
Sleeping bag: spring bag from milsurp 3 part sleep system OR milsurp extreme cold weather bag(way overkill but i like to be comfy when sleeping near my car why not?)

I wasnt truly cut off, I mean I was going into town every other day or so to refill water jugs, get a shower at the gym and so on

but kansas honestly was my least favorite place ive ever been sorry :(

Free AMC hut you can stay in for a night on a hiking trail in Vermont

There were 3 2 level wooden bunks so it could sleep a total of 6 people

Later that afternoon I was joined by a dad and his teenage son, were decent enough neighbors was kinda weird but pretty cool experience

That's why a smartphone is the best (pocket sized) camera.
GoPros/GoPro style cameras are great for a lot of things, doing video that might take multiple takes to be good is not one of them. It's always a crapshoot if it came out with decent focus or not, etc. and the tiny screen is hopeless.
If I have to grab my phone to review the footage from the camera, I might as well use the phone to film.

wtf is with you phone/camera? its like it has an AI upscale filter on it, and then its blown up bigger that native resolution? everything is noisy as fuck and looks like shit
and the file sizes are massive wtf bro these all suck ass, blurry, focus on the foreground by picture framed is the horizon which is all blurry

I'm doing the same starting in January. Gonna hit every western state and alaska too in June. Gonna live out of my truck camper but its a 2wd prerunner, which might be a retarded move but I love it too much to sell it and get a 4wd. What am I in for? What do you wish you knew before you started?
