Let's start with some technical stuff- this image's exposure was mostly in the highlights- turning them down to zero blacked out the entire image. I never had this happen before.

Yea, I was testing out max iso at night. I love the A.I denoiser but sometimes the results look like shit. In this case I just maxed the texture and clarity sliders, -100 contrast, -100 highlights and an aggressive S curve.

youre right in saying that and i think fix is the wrong word myself. A blurry nose dead center of the image is distracting when the rest of the dog is pretty well sharp imo. Moving a couple of inches back would have brought it in and left parts like the body a little blurred but as a portrait, a blurred body is less important than a blurred facial feature. I like the picture a lot all around. I think one stop would have just given the room to make it even better.

Cheap shit CPLs will make a smeary mess of basically any lens that isn't a wide angle (and even then it won't be the best). Don't buy the $5 amazon CPL for instance. I find the X-series (not the K-series) K&F filters are practically free of any IQ robbing bullshit and they're like $30-40 USD. Colour casts are inevitable, and different brands have stronger or weaker effects, but generally anything within $40-150 should perform rather similarly. There are also versions that claim higher transmittance that'll cost you extra but that's not super necessary.

Buy a semi-decent one in a single size that'll fit your largest diameter lens, then buy cheap step-down rings for any other lenses you'd want to use it on. I chose 67mm and it's painless and inexpensive.
