Have you looked at White Dwarf or anything for inspiration? Might be some good ideas in there to expand your repertoire. The close ups are solid, depth of field is good, keep 'em coming.

Just really ugly photos honestly. The designs of the toys are crude and not very well done, I have seen much nicer models from other companies. The paint job is very poor. The image quality on the digital photos themselves is quite murky. They are overall very ugly. On top of that, the subject matter and process of creating this "work" is extremely sad, pitiful really. At least a painter or illustrator will try to capture their own visions conjured from imagination. This is just ugly, commercialized junk you bought, and shared here, I guess in the hope there were other sad people like you who also supported this brand. Even if the photography in the random photos thread is quite poor, at least these people are outside (most of them), enjoying some light exercise and maybe even socializing with people they meet on their photo walks. Meanwhile you remained in your home, crouched over foul smelling paints, attempting to light the results with a desk lamp it looks like. I really dislike these images and I hope you throw them all away and save yourself.

Thanks for the comments though, the background is a big ruined church diorama I built, but that's absolutely fucking impossible to get an aesthetic photo of, even if it looks great irl.

White dwarf is really repetitive, throw some GW terrain down, squeeze in some fake smoke and chuck on completely even lighting. The ones with plain black backgrounds I've taken some inspiration from gw, but the other ones I leant more towards the stylised photos you see on IG of posed toys (mainly star wars and gundam action figures)

if you actually have money why do you use gold paint, it doesn't cost much to airbrush on metallic copper paint, electroplate copper->nickel->gold
for any color of metal you can just electroplate to nickel and then airbrush with car paint of any color

The last 2 models aren't my paint jobs, and all the gold in other models is NMM, it's great to hear that it fooled you, it was my first time trying nmm. That's probably why the last 100 man tournament I entered I won best painted (in fact the lowest I've ever come for best painted is 3rd, out of around a dozen large tournaments).

And I do use an airbrush where appropriate, which is for the base coats, the yellow dudes armour is airbrushed, starting with magenta and received strong praise from a cult of paint painter. an airbrush can't do specular highlights or edge highlights, or recess shading or fine detail.

I don't think you've ever painted a model that's worth showing anyone other than your mum. Definitely never used an airbrush, lol!
