circular polarizer magic
Just wanted to show the wonders of using a cpl. My first time using it. Pictures arent meant to be astonishing just as an example.

Are all other parameters the same? The sky and trees change is already great but what I'm most impressed by is the car

>yes all the same (Aperture priority mode = ISO 100, Aperture f/5, Shutterspeed variable due to CPL filter being stopping down so without filter 1/500, with filter 1/250)
>no post processing (unless you mean canons internal processing based on the sensor they used blablbal I know people will argue that all cameras process but this is SOOC)
>focus point the same

Darkening the sky allows for more foreground exposure

Thanks! I'll look into getting one of those

Oh yeah makes sense

I need to get one for my new setup. Thanks for reminding me

Uneven polarization is the biggest problem with these filters

You can also do this by bringing down your highlights a bit reducing the luminance of blues.

Yeah but it's not usually an issue unless you're shooting with a wide angle

>unless you're shooting with a wide angle
that's non-trivial as a lot of guys are using these to shoot cars

I have like 10 different CPLs and my Zeiss are pretty close to completely even
They cost $100+ though

The industry standard for car photography is a 24-70, though most people also have some short telephotos too. Generally when you're shooting products you don't want the distance distortion that comes with wide angles. Even at 24mm, the banding in the sky is manageable.

Is there any point in getting the cheapo $10-20 CPLs?
If not, what's the cheapest option that's reliably good?

>Is there any point in getting the cheapo $10-20 CPLs?
Yeah. As long as you're shooting raws you can just apply a preset to fix the uneven polarization issues. If your lens is under like $1500 new it's going to have more aberrations in the lens itself, but most lightroom programs automatically fix that for you. Just buy cheap filters unless you're using a lens so perfect that you need a high quality filter for it

OK, I'll get the biggest one I can find under $20, and 3D print any adapters I need.

Or you could just use a rig and matte box and then use the cheaper polarizing film

very autistic and cumbersome solution

>>4439618
correct
but the filters work on all your lenses
Anonymous No.4439623 [Report]
>>4439619
yeah but if I just get an 82mm filter it will work on all my lenses and be very convenient.
There are plenty of 3D files for step up/down rings available, the only adjustment needed is shrinkage calibration.
