archive dot org, zlibrary or annas archive if you actually know what you're looking for but photo books don't seem to be a easy to find as other books on those

Tell me someone saved that thread posted here a while back of the guy who found all those slides being thrown out and it was 1970's and 1960s England and I think they even tracked the guy down who shot them, was a very good thread with a lot of very good compositions. Almost lost to time.

in italy we have some good publishers like Contrasto but yea, quite frustrating the artificial scarcity - i dont think theres that little interest in photobooks or just regular photography books.. but idk

Yeah I know they're not great for photo books, I've found probably less than half of what I was looking for and usually in poor quality. I don't know how it is where you live but as a last resort I think you can request books from your local library and they can bring them in from other locations if they exist in the archive. I've never done that however, I just heard that you could.

Nothing personal by Nikita Teryoshin. It's recent so you can actually get it and I thought it was very good. If your into street you can also still get Melissa O'Shaughnessy's recent photo book which was spectacular.

On Youtube and vimeo you can find almost every photobook. Just search the google images if you need high res shot and sort them in separate folders.

But yes you're right. Photobook collectors should be shot thrown into mass graves for doing this >>4442614

Yes, why not? Here's what I do:

>checkout the video of a photobook that I am look for
>watch the vid
>if it's cool search the web for photos
>spend few hours searching them on every major and minor platform
>put them in a separate folder
>go back to that video and start arranging those photos according to sequence

That's how we poorfaggots live, by eating the scraps off of the rich's asshole. What other options do you have? Do you have thousands of dollars to give to swine that are ebay collectors?

For some reason I thought of Wang Ningde when I saw that photo. He has a lot of funny staged photos featuring dudes in uniform.

I don't own a single photo book and never been interested in owning one, but is there really this huge market for them? I seem people talk about Leica pricing when referring to some of them. Perhaps I should start looking for them when out thrifting.

The Decline of Mall Civilization by Michael Galinsky was interesting book I picked up a couple weeks ago. Not as interesting as the other 2 but I thought it was fascinating how pretty uninteresting pictures from that time were now interesting. Time will make almost anything interesting I guess. Other than that I've been looking at a lot of Brian Karlsson's work lately.

Not a huge market but there is definitely collectors. It's honestly just mostly scarcity due to their not being much demand. They are expensive to print and don't really appeal to normies. They are really satisfying to make though.

A problem when most of today's photographers expect instant gratification and recognition. I think, granted that civilization continues that pictures of the mundane from our era will stand out. Very few are taking photos of ordinary things.

It's mostly a compression thing. Those archives are really meant for text and simple pictures to supplement the text. With good photo books, text supplements the pictures. It's frustrating, but there's still good stuff to grok.

What are some good tips to get photo books for cheap? On second hand online websites here people try to sell even the common stuff for either retail prices or more expensive, where usually Amazon second hand has better prices. Local yard sales are a miss because those books are not really popular to that kind of demographic

I often find them in thrift stores. The library is also a good place if you don't actually care about owning them.
