More from the IR shoot. I agree a bit psychedelic and eerie but hoping for more warmth/serenity.

Very cool shots. At first I thought it was chromatic aberration and decided to read up on the trichromatic process so it makes sense how much that shadow color shifted with layered shots. Are these stacked digitally or dark room or what?

Here’s another shot and on this one it was cloudy overhead so much softer look.

thanks anon. I've stacked them digitally, in gimp. took me a bit until I got everything right, as there is a slight misalligment between shots no matter how hard I try to avoid any movement.

I really like your shots. the light seems a little diffused and the pictures tend to have a dreamlike feel to them.

one random shot from the last roll. this is agfa apx 100, develped at home. I think I shouldn't have reused the fixer. oh well, we live and we learn.

I find gimp overwhelming and I think if I did that workflow I’d lose some interest in photography but maybe you have it dialed in.

Been adjusting my post process formula a little to mostly control the excessive blues. I’m using darktable for all post processing and find it easier than back when I was on Lightroom.

No its more than that, theres like a ton of noise removal or sharpening or something going on. look at the faces, the details are all extremely soft or jsut blurry, but the girl on the far right has a super crisp outline going around her face. its just an uncanny photo to me sorry. im gonna guess you accidentally missed focus and tried to fix it in post because wrinkle in the guys shirt far left of frame is actually more detailed than the subject.

idk, if you did actually hit focus, id redo the editing.

I kinda explained in another gear thread, but I'll repaste here with more info.

This was just at Medieval Times (They let you bring in as big of a camera as you want so long as you dont use flash which is pretty based for an event venue). Shot on the EFS 18-135mm F3.5-5.6.

This is on Canon 90D (APS-C) at a 5.6 fstop because I was zoomed in at 112mm in low light. Shutter at 1/640. 3200 ISO. I was shooting AF because fuck trying to manual this.

Just sitting at the table, wiping the food grime off my hands with a wet-wipe when this show horse came out. They have good lighting and fog machines, venue did most of the heavy lifting to be honest.

Pic posted is another from this same batch. Completely ungraded (though cropped)

When I take a picture, I get a good shot and go "Fuck yeah, this looks sick" I just gotta crop here, adjust the levels here. All good to go and I'm done

When I take a video, I get a good shot and go "Fuck, I gotta add sound, transitions, music, and make sure this all in service of the story I'm trying to convey"

Video's great and I love it too. But I just find photo way easier.

But then that means ignore “hey that looks cool”. Why does it look cool in my eyes but shit on a photo? Is this some metaphysical thing

>Why does it look cool in my eyes but shit on a photo?
Because cameras are reductive. There are colors, tonal differences, shadows, details, textures, distant foliage, highlights etc that are within the range of your eyes but fall apart when a camera tries to record them.

The copes are:
Buy a nicer camera (ie: Fuji GW690 + competent scanning still mogs $15k digital setups)
photograph less stuff

besides what >>4445214 said, just take more photos to up the chances of good edits. Nothing wrong with thinking something is good at the time of shooting only to get to the computer and realize its not (for any number of reasons). Unless youre being paid to produce some number of good photos maximizing fun at each step is the key. Sure its unfortunate to get to the editor and realized you missed focus, or miss framed, missed composition, or just its not the same feeling you had in the moment, but if you enjoyed snapping the picture it was worth it.

I assume both of these are taken by the same anon? if so these look great. Did you use film for these or just hit the B&W button in Lightroom

Thank you. I wish I had brought my CPL, it would've complimented the simulated red filtering.
